Last week only saw action from the No. 16 IU women’s basketball team. The Hoosiers went 1-1 in their home games during the last week of January.
IU fell 78-70 to No. 14 Ohio State on Thursday after blowing an 11-0 lead. This marked the Hoosiers’ 15th straight loss to the Buckeyes. Despite double-doubles from sophomore forward Mackenzie Holmes and junior guard Grace Berger, IU wasn’t able to pull off the win.
But three days later, IU defeated Michigan State 79-67 on Sunday. The bench provided a spark for the Hoosiers, with freshman forward Kiandra Browne and senior guard Nicole Cardaño-Hillary each playing 11 minutes off the bench.
IU came back from an 8-point deficit in the first half and outscored Michigan State 21-11 in the last quarter of its bounce back win. That win improved the Hoosiers’ conference record to 8-2.
The women’s team will play its rescheduled game against Rutgers at home Thursday and then travel to Iowa City, Iowa, to play the Hawkeyes on Sunday.
After nine days off, the men’s team will get back on the court Tuesday night at Assembly Hall in its game against Illinois. Then, IU will play Iowa at home Sunday.
