The University of Evansville was ranked among the best colleges for intramural sports by www.BestColleges.com. Criteria for the ranking included variety, leadership, and facilities.
Seth Woodason, assistant Director of the Fitness Center, says the ranking is a reflection of what is important to UE students. “We’re a very active, health-focused university,†Woodason says. “Year after year, we consistently have around 75 percent of the student body active in at least one intramural sport.â€
UE has men’s, women’s, and co-recreational teams in a variety of sports and activities at every ability level. The most popular sports are soccer and basketball, but there are a wide range of individual and team sports to choose from.
“One unique sport we offer is inner tube basketball,†says Woodason. “Players sit in an inner tube in the shallow end of the pool and try to get the ball in the basket. It’s entertaining to watch and the students love it!â€
Other sports include flag football, volleyball, tennis, floor hockey, softball, and bike races. For more information, visit www.evansville.edu/fitnesscenter/intramurals.cfm or contact University Relations at 812-488-2236 or by e-mail at uerelations@evansville.edu.
