  1. I wish I knew more about if there was a trust fund for Mesker Amphitheater. I suspect the plan to demolish it is because it is sitting on money someone wants to spend more freely.

  2. Does anybody else remember when Billy Bolin posted on this very Web site offering to do an interview on the Louise Milan fiasco after a settlement was reached? Is anyone going to follow up on that?

    • …did anyone go to Bobby Plump’s place in Indy yet? If you call, they’ll let you know which days when he is greeting and seating customers. Classic, all-time great Indiana history, seating you himself.

    • ‘Last year, nine organizations shared $33,370 in Mesker Music Fund distributions. They include the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra Youth Concerts, Tales & Scales musical storytelling programs, Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library music events, and the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp.’ ~~ Evansville Living Magazine

George Mesker spins. The amphitheater rots, now the subject of a dog & pony show complete with TV cameras, Crayola crayons for brainstorming and well meaning people who remember good times there. It was just too good, couldn’t compete with the big ticket entertainment venue projects that simply cannot be allowed to fail. It’s slide through neglect has been swift. The walk throughs with input ‘sincerely’ solicited is reminiscent of the televised strolls through Roberts once it’s fate had already been decided.

  3. Once again the progressive thinking administration of the City of Evansville has managed to disrupt a major traffic thoroughfare into, through, and out of downtown Evansville. Yep Riverside Drive is closed again with traffic diverted through side streets and eventually ending up on Second Street with more congestion and traffic lights. The reason for the shutdown is the Shriners Fest this week. A great event and the monies raised support a great cause. But when is the DPW going to use Riverside Drive like it was designed to be used? The Espanade (that’s the wide pedestrian area adjacent to the flood protection wall – think real wide sidewalk) was designed to accomodate food booths and crowds, without disrupting traffic patterns. The Lower Dress Plaza area was designed to accomodate food booths and huge crowds and even music events and bierstubes. The Levee area from the Four Freedoms Momument past the Pagoda and past the Museum to the tennis courts at Waterworks Road was designed to accomodate food booths and crowds. Main Street from Riverside Drive to in front of the Ford Center was designed to accomodate food booths and crowds (look at the Wine & Jazz Festival that takes place on Main Street every year!). What part of “Stop disrupting traffic flow through Evansville” doesn’t the DPW understand?
Kudos to the Hadi Shrine and the Shriners for producing this event but stop shutting down Riverside Drive when other accomodations exist. This goes for all of the other Tom, Divk, and Harry events that shut down Riverside Drive also: the Firefighters Challange, the SWAT Team Challenge, the bicycle races, the running events. At least the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure got smart and moved back to the Eastland Mall parking lot.
These events are all great events but locate them where they are not a disruption to major roads (Main Street has ceased to be a major road since the Civic Center cut it in two.)
If the City Administration and the DPW needs to see how major events can be staged on the riverfront, all they needed to have done was to visit Henderson last week during the W.C. Handy Blues & BBQ Fest or Owensboro with their multitude of events on their riverfront.
What the City of Evansville and the DPW are currently doing is a failure. A failure to plan. A failure to think. And a failure to respond properly.

    • Ha! Fantastic! Great ideas.
      Put this guy in charge.
PoseyCountyDutchman….This is a great man. A man of vision. A man of substance. A man of guts.

  4. So $250,000 through the magic of compounded interest has tripled to $770,000? Even considering the 5% grant, it seems that George’s investment has not kept up with inflation more less a reasonable expectation of the future value of money. Never the less, it seems that there was funds for the $100.000 repair. As Old Ben Fraklin said at Meske’s opening, “A hundred thousand in time could save nine.”

    • Seems ole George had a vision and the money to maintain it pretty much in perpetuity. Predictably the fund came under the control of venal politicians to buy their girlfriends strong whiskey and overpriced underwear therefrom.

Franklin would look down over those glasses at the situation in Evansville and head back to France.

    • It is a procedural thing Laura. When he is confirmed as the Republican candidate at the convention in Cleveland, then the funds will be made available to him. I am sure the Clinton’s are taking advantage of this time period to use their illgotten, mostly foreign, money to ramp up their attack ads between now and the convention.

      ALL IN FOR TRUMP!

      NEVER hillary!

      • …..Isn’t it ironic too. (I mean, Pressanykey has no shame. This much…it is perfectly clear.)
So….isn’t it ironic, that the very man, Trump, who stood up there and lied to his ignorant, minion supporters making claims like, “I am self-funding my own campaign! The Donors, they don’t control me. They control Jeb Bush. But not me, I’m self-funding.”

But…..as Pressanykey is HAPPY to point out today……no, Trump is not self-funding. He has no money. Instead….Trump is gonna use the US government taxpayer campaign funds released to the GOP Nominee after the RNC Convention!!

Thanks good ole Pressanykey for pointing that out today. Your taxpayer funded political campaign begins after the RNC Convention.

          • We all just need to let you keep up this Trump thing. Seriously.
You’ve turned abandoning values into an art from Pressanykey.

        • I do not “need” your approval for anything. You are definitely possessed of a giant ego. Too bad a giant intellect didn’t come with it.

      • Really? I guess there are a lot of people in the “Dump Trump” movement hoping to get a different candidate, but if they don’t, I expect they’ll not be giving your guy any money.

        • ….Oh no. You want Trump as the Nominee. No one else.
Pressanykey…he needs to continue to think he’s investing his dignity in Trump, and it will pay off.

          • Not only me, but 13,300,472 want Donald Trump as their Republican Party candidate. You see, the REAL republicans far outnumber you, establishment , do nothing types.

Oh, you may have a poop load of money to try to buy the results you want, but never fool yourself that you establishment guys are the majority. You are far from that.

  5. News Reports in every news source in America, EVEN Rush Limbaugh, reporting this:
    *****************
GOP leaders alarmed by Trump’s ‘devastating’ fundraising start

New reports showing the presumptive nominee had less than $1.3 million in the bank heading into June ignited fears that the party may not be able to afford the kind of national field effort that the entire Republican ticket depends on.
    *****************

Why is that? Is it that Trump is not serious about running to win?
That Trump doesn’t want to win the White House?
That Trump isn’t interested in being President?

What about all of those Trump Fans, like Pressanykey, out there? Are they being exploited so Trump can help promote Trump products? Is that all this was ever about? I mean, PAK…..he BELIEVES in Trump. Believes.

    • Trump Air is an expensive airline to run.
But then we’ve got presumptive candidate Hillary running around wearing $12,000+ designer gunny sacks…
