John Roberts of Hilliard Lyons to present 2017 economic outlook

John M. Roberts, senior vice president, director of Research and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), and senior analyst at Hilliard Lyons, will present his 2016 economic outlook at the University of Southern Indiana. This event will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, February 13, in BE0035 in the Business and Engineering Center. The presentation is free and open to students, faculty, administrators and the public. Early Registration ends Monday, February 13

USI offers SANE Training for second year in a row

To meet the need for more specially-trained nurses to collect forensic evidence in cases of sexual assault, the University of Southern Indiana and Southwest Indiana Area Health Education Center (SWI-AHEC) are offering Adult/Adolescent Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Training March 6-10 on the USI campus. A SANE is a registered nurse who has received advanced education and training regarding sexual assault and forensic nursing. SANE-trained nurses must follow specific protocols in the care and examination of sexual assault victims to provide specialized health and forensic care to adult and adolescent patients. USI Theatre continues 2016-2017 Season with “Crumbs from the Table of Joy”

University of Southern Indiana Theatre will kick off the spring 2017 season with Crumbs from the Table of Joy by Lynne Nottage, with special guest director Ron Himes. Himes is the founder and producing director of The Black Rep and the Henry E. Hampton Jr. artist-in-residence at Washington University in St. Louis. Tickets are $7 for USI students, $12 for adults, $10 for USI employees, seniors (60+) and non-USI students. Shows start at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. for the Sunday matinee. Read More

International Food Expo offers a variety of cuisine and entertainment

The International Club at the University of Southern Indiana will host the annual International Food Expo from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, February 17 in Carter Hall, University Center West. Cuisine from 23 countries can be sampled, including new fare from Tunisia, Mozambique, Morocco, Bahrain and Bolivia. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10 from the Center for International Programs Office in the University Center East, Room 1235, or at the door on the day of the Expo for $15. Read More

The University of Southern Indiana World Languages and Cultures Department will host a screening of Spanish film Wrinkles at 7 p.m. Friday, February 17 in Forum I located in the Wright Administration Building. Sixth-annual Startup Weekend Evansville to bring together people, ideas, resources

Anyone with an idea they’d like to develop into reality, and anyone looking to connect with people to work on a common mission of entrepreneurship is encouraged to take part in Startup Weekend Evansville 6.0, which will be held Friday through Sunday, February 17-19, in the University of Southern Indiana’s Business and Engineering Center. Startup Weekend is a 54-hour event where developers, designers, marketers, product managers and startup enthusiasts come together to share ideas, form teams, build products and launch startups. Tickets for the event are $30 through February 5 and $45 from February 5-17. Educator and student discounts also are available. Members of the public who just want to watch final pitches, judging and awards can register for Sunday Demo Day tickets for $25, which includes a catered dinner. The keynote speakers for Startup Weekend Evansville 6.0 are Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and Andy Niemeier, director of human resources and finance for Azzip Pizza. Read More

 

Physical Activities Center Renovation Groundbreaking Ceremony Postponed

The groundbreaking ceremony for USI’s Physical Activities Center renovations scheduled for Friday, February 24 has been postponed until later this spring. A new date will be announced in the near future.
