The Battle Rages On by, Jerome Stewart

There is so much power in the word of God. For those willing to trust in Him, we have all the needed assurances necessary to fight each battle against sin. The apostle Paul said to the brethren in 1st. Corinthians 10 vs. 13; “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”

We already know that because of the sacrifice of Jesus when He died, was buried and arose again on the third day that the victory, as related to the penalty for sinful behavior has already been won, although the battle against sin rages on.

Great words of comfort can be found in the meaning of the words in Psalm 18 vs. 2. David says; “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of My salvation, my stronghold.”

Some Scriptures need to be memorized, so that they are readily available to call upon, in the ongoing daily battle against sin.

Vs. 30 says; “As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.” So the question that must be asked, is who are you placing your trust in? Think: About the goodness and mercy of God.

Think: About the magnitude of the meaning of the words in Psalm 103 vss. 12 thru 14 which says; “As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father pities his children, So the LORD pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.”

Memorize for immediate assistance the words of the apostle Paul to the brethren in Romans 9 vs. 15 which says; “For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.”

The beauty of God’s word is in knowing the God mentioned throughout the Old and New Testament, is the exact same God today. He sent Jesus to save mankind from sin. Yet the battle against sin has to be fought everyday because the devil is busy, but Jesus is busier!

The Apostle Paul said to the brethren in Ephesians chapter 6 vs. 11; “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” When we think about the anger on display today which is at a fever pitch, it is a sure indication that the devil is on his job.

Yet those who know Jesus as Lord and Savior can find comfort in the meaning of the words of Jesus in John 16 vs. 33 which says; “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer I have overcome the world.”  January 11, 2026
