The Heritage Tour is a project that is intended to celebrate and educate residents and visitors to Evansville about the rich cultural history of the African American community and culture in the city. The trailhead is located at the Evansville African American Museum and the brochures for the walking tour will be available there as well. The dedication will take place on the lawn of the museum located at 579 S. Garvin Street, Evansville, IN 47713.
Speakers will include Sondra Matthews, Founder of the museum, Lu Porter, retired Museum Director, Mayor Lloyd Winnecke, and DMD Executive Director Kelley Courses. Guests are invited to visit the museum and tour the area to see the 7 interpretive signs now in place.
