On 5/24/2025 officers were requested to Marina Pointe at 850 LST Dr in reference to a stolen vehicle report. While the report was being completed, the suspect returned to the scene. The suspect fled toward a tree line as officers approached. The suspect then fell down an embankment into the water. The suspect was observed struggling to swim before going under the water.
An EPD officer entered the water to try to locate and rescue the suspect. Due to poor lighting and water conditions, the suspect was not able to be located. Evansville Fire Department (EFD) was contacted for a water rescue. EFD water rescue located the suspect after searching for multiple hours. It was determined the suspect was deceased. EPD commends the EFD for the measures taken on this difficult and heartbreaking recovery.
Based on the location of the recovery, the death investigation will be handled by Henderson, Kentucky.
The suspect’s identity will not be released at this time.
