Hoosiers are being encouraged to prevent summer learning loss and to sharpen their job skills as part of Learn More Indiana’s KnowHow2GO campaign. From children starting kindergarten to returning adult learners, the state’s annual summer campaign offers practical tips and resources to help students of all ages get ahead in school and prepare for college and careers.
“Whether going to school or going to work, we want to equip Hoosiers with the practical advice and specific steps they need to get ahead this summer,†said Indiana Commissioner for Higher Education Teresa Lubbers. “Our KnowHow2GO campaign has something for everyone, from summer camps and internships to college visits and career fairs.
To get more Hoosiers involved, Learn More Indiana is working with the Indiana Afterschool Network to connect families with summer learning programs in their area and partnering with Indiana INTERNnet, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce’s free internship-matching program for students and employers.
“Summer programs provide a unique opportunity for children and youth of all ages to have exciting college-going experiences, campus visits, and real-world learning opportunities,†said Indiana Afterschool Network Executive Director Debbie Zipes. “Summer and afterschool programs can an addition 64,800 minutes of learning to a young person’s year – equivalent to the number of hours in 144 school days!â€
