SCOTT DANKS SELECTED AS NEXT CITY ATTORNEY FOR EVANSVILLE CITY COUNCIL

68

In a unexpected move at last nights Evansville City Council meeting saw the selection of highly regarded Evansville attorney Scott Danks as the next city attorney. Mr. Danks shall replace outgoing city attorney, John Hamilton, Esq. Although eight attorneys submitted resumes for this position, only six responded to the city council qualifications survey. City councilmen and search committee chairmen, Conor O’Daniel submitted the name of Scott Danks to be voted on by city council as next city attorney. Without fanfare or discussion council voted 9-0 in a voice vote to hire Mr. Danks as the next city attorny.

Our sources tell us that this move by Evansville City Council members is considered to be not only an outstanding political, but also a brilliant legal decision. They also tell us that Missy Mosby, Jonathon Weaver and Al Lindsey played a major role in the selection of Mr. Danks. They also tell us that the process has begun for the three city council members to finally work together for the betterment of this community. Coner O’Daniel and president of city council, Connie Robinson were extremely effective in bringing city council members together in the selection of the new city attorney. Councilmen Dr.Dan Adams and John Friend, CPA worked very hard in insuring that city council would vote 9-0 on this issue. Of course, social media also played a major role in this process.

Finally, our sources tell us that the selection of Mr. Danks as the next city attorney should be considered one of the Evansville City Council finest hours.

  1. What a spectacular choice! Hard working and someone who knows the ins and outs of local politics! When you want the best, you go to Danks…the City Council must realize that!!

  2. Couldn’t have made a better choice, excellent attorney and just what this council needs with the battles to come in 2013. Weinzapfel and company should be getting nervous with Garrett on their trail and Danks as the council attorney, it is just a matter of time before their trail of lies and thievery are revealed. All that you have to do is catch one and like the rats that they are they will spill the beans on the rest. What size orange jumpsuit do you think Weinzapfel wears?

  3. Wow, what a major political turn of events by City Council.

Winezapfel and Jones political strong hold on Evansville City Council has finally received its final blow this evening. On behalf of the citizens of this community, I would like to say “thanks” to city council for doing the right thing and shutting down the political machine of the past!

Scott Danks will do an outdstanding job as the next City Council attorney!

        • I like how you talk about me working at a grocery store as if I give a crap what you think or say yet your precious councilwoman threw a fit when people called her out for working at Main Gate. Talk about fair and balanced. When I’m drawing government unemployment is when you can complain.

          • No one was talking about or to you Jordan. Put your ego in check. Personaly I wouldn’t demean someone drawing unemployment considering that it is a program designed to protect people in times of need. Sorry you dont have sympathy for people struggling in a tough economy. I have no precious councilperson either. I generally like and respect all of them. I am glad you are gainfully employed, the more hours you work, the less you can spend on quixotic campaigns to save oversized pole barns that have long outlived their usefulness.

          • Yea it’s not like you haven’t been on here running your mouth under 50 different sns on here. I’m glad Owen hiring you finally caught up with him last year. You make David Mosby look like a law abiding citizen.

        • Mr. Jarvis, trying to defame Scott Danks does not make smart or clever. It does dishonor to Mr. White and your prior employers. Please grow up.

          • Learn the definition of defame. Learn the maturity of posting under your own name then you may speak to me.

  4. Congrats to Evansville City Council for making a bold move in selecting a kick a– attorney (Scott Danks) to replace John Hamilton.

Looks like Johnny W and his side kick, Dave Jones have officially been kicked to the curb.

Three cheers to City Councilmen, Coner O’Daniel for broking this deal!

  5. Wow–what a great move by Evansville City Council in selecting Scott Danks as its next city attorney.

What was so impressive is that Mr. Danks received a 9-0 vote to hire him for this post.

Looks like the Demos has finally got it figured out–“out with the old and in with the new”!

      • He has never been the city council attorney. He was an assistant city attorney in the past.

  6. Wasn’t Danks the guy who represented Al Lindsey when the city tried to fire him? That stinks of conflict.

  7. Seems like Mr. Jarvis is upset that his past boss, Attorney White didn’t get the city council attorney job.

Maybe he should spend his time and effort in trashing City Council and not Mr. Danks.

    • Im not upset that Mr. White didnt get the job. I think he would have been a good choice as well as Mr Jones and several of the others. All would have been a wiser and more appropriate choice than Mr. Danks.

      • It is amusing how things play out in certain situations.
First, I never whine. I am posting this under one of my previous comments because frankly any breath or energy expended on Jordan Baer, like Roberts Stadium, is pointless. His continued obsession with Roberts Stadium and the Mosby family is troubling and a little frightening.
I spoke with a dear friend late last night concerning this selection, someone I respect greatly. After talking to my friend I decided I may have jumped the gun and not given Scott Danks reasonable opportunity before criticizing him. As someone who believes in fairness I called Scott Danks morning and said something similar to him and apologized for not giving him a chance to make the most of his appointment. Scott was gracious and genial and it was a pleasant conversation. Everyone deserves the chance to succeed or fail on the merits. I fell victim to the “CCO Syndrome” of rushing to attack and complain before seeing the end results (Ford Center haters you understand the errors of this) and I regret that.

        • This is the lamest and most insincere “apology” of all time. Justin Jarvis claims he “fell victim” and “may have jumped the gun”? Really, that somehow justified his repeated uncivil and jealous posts against Mr. Danks? No Sir. No way.

          • Considering you are neither Scott Danks nor myself your opinon is moot on what is or isn’t valid. Hiding behind a screen name (from what is most likely a Civic Center computer) gives you little ground to stand on as far as what is or isnt insincere.

        • Jarvis can’t even make an apology without whining through the whole thing. You’re just mad at Yesonhsr because he is getting things done while you sit on here and whine, whine, whine and then complain.

Oh and one more thing, Danks called you. That’s why you’re on here trying to walk back what you’ve been saying. It’s looking like everyone in town owns you Justin.

          • Actually Scott suggested we meet, have lunch and get to know one another. Unlike certain other people who cant have a civil discussion I have no problems sitting down and talking to anyone. No one owns me, unlike some of our politicians here, you cant buy me.

        • I like how Alex apologizes for attacking one person as he’s attacking another one in the same blog. Alex, why are you so jealous of those who are getting things done here? Will you ever grow up and start becoming a productive member of society around here like the two people you are trashing on this site?

  8. Scott Danks is an American badass and I’m glad he got this job. The fact that Jarvis is on here crying like a Mosby should be all anyone needs to know about how great of a hire this is. Evansville now has tanks and Danks!

  9. Wow. 11 of the 30 posts are from Alex Jarvis. It’s hilarious to see the draining of power from the likes of Jarvis, Jones and Weinzapfel. It’s like watching a cat get a bath. There’s a lot of pointless screaming and clawing before the inevitable occurs.

  10. What I find odd is that the Courier & Press releases felony arrest warrants online all the time. They practically beg you to go through the list and find a name of someone you know wanted by the law and turn them in. And then when it actually happens they say oh golly gee how dare you. I hate hypocrites as much as I hate rats. Whenever I see the felony list I don’t even open it. With all the police officers we have I figure if they quit driving around town talking on their cell phones and speeding through stop signs and stop lights they ought to have enough time to go through the arrest warrant list every day and take care of business. They don’t have to ask me to become a rat fink to do their own job for them.

    • Oh. I got off track. Congratulations to Scott Danks. He’s a great fit for representing the City Council.

  11. I rather enjoyed watching Jordan Baer and Alex Jarvis’s girly fight in the comments on this one. I say next time we introduce a mud pit, bikinis, and a couple handbags into the mix and charge admission.

  12. I sure wish I had Brad Linzy’s or Justin Jarvis’ job. Both seem to be on here every hour on the hour thinking every post is about them. I’d like to tell them to get a life but that’d just provoke another race by the two to hijack the thread. Come on guys, find something productive to do.

  13. I do not know how good of a job attorney Danks will do for the city council, but from what has taken place in the last 9 years I will make a personal observation that the bar is not set very high.

I noted that while searching Martindale.com for local “municipal law” attorneys Scott Danks name did not come up. I then searched his name and found this listed as his areas of practice: Plaintiff’s Personal Injury; Criminal Defense; Family Law.

In any event, attorneys advise on the law as it exists and not necessarily on what might be the right thing to do morally or ethically. Each individual member of city council must decide on the latter when confronted. That is why we need the very best people as council members.

  14. I would sure like to know what Jarvis problem is…. I have never seen a kid who is so troubled by others in my life… I definitely agree with other posters that this stems from his jealousy towards others… Jarvis has no right to trash the party and city that was built by hard work from those who came before him… It is an insult to all of Evansville for my party not to publicly distance themselves from these type of behaviors… I really wonder if Jarvis is ever going to grow up!

    • I have no problem, I am not a kid and I am not jealous. I have never trashed my party or my city and I call on you to prove otherwise. You will fail. As for any repudiation of me by the party, I highly doubt you have done as much for the party, either as a paid staffer or a simple volunteer, as I have. Since you are clearly a coward hiding behind a screen name I doubt we will ever know.

      • Democrat Scott Danks supported Democrat Rick Davis when he ran for Mayor. Did you?

        • As an employ of the party I supported all candidates and helped them when asked.

          • Nor must you support all candidates to be a Democrat. That’s the benefits of living in a democracy. Anyone who votes a straight ticket casts a vote for ignorance

          • This is the problem right here with our politcos. They want the glory of being Republican or Democrat when the time comes for the party to support and finance their elections, but when the time comes for them to return the favor they switch to whoever they feel they can get the most out of whether its one side or the other.

We’ve seen Friend, Robinson, and Phil Hoy all do this. If you want to be independent to pick your own people, then register independent and don’t use party funds for your own campaign. If you’re going to be a democrat or republican, then support your party.

  15. Didn’t Danks support Heather Zoss, Maggie Lloyd and Barry Blackard (all republicans)?

  16. As I sit here and read the comments there is something that keeps bugging me. IIRC, posters on here were talking about Main Gate’s health inspection last year and immediately Missy came on her herself claiming to be representing those in the food and beverage industry and demanded that all posters cease to complain about her and Main Gate. So why isn’t she on here now representing all of those who are being trashed by Jarvis? Is it ok for him to do the same thing? Just doesn’t make sense to me and it appears that I’m not the only one who is takes issue with Jarvis’ conduct.

    • You raise some good points. I too am curious how Missy could justify such blatant hypocrisy. Politicians: Never there for us when we need them, always there for us when we don’t. It’s about time Missy did the right thing and stood up to Jarvis just like she did to the rest of the posters on here last year. Otherwise, she shall be regarded forever as a hypocritical who never holds her own side accountable to her own demands.

      • Arguing with someone who hides behing a blind screen name is like arguing with your kitchen table: A waste of effort. I have deigned to put my name on my posts and incur the sniping wrath of the armchair activists and do-nothings on this fledglin little blog. I will no long respond to cowards who hide behind a computer screen. When you have the balls to come at me under your real name then you can talk.

        • How many names do you have on here Jarvis? Only Jeffers has more than you. I can’t believe you don’t even see your own hypocrisy. It looks like you and Missy are going to choose to remain hypocrites, how surprising! She no longer has any room to complain about anything that is being said on here until she holds you accountable as well.

          • I would say Jeffers, Davis and Hart have the most. I, unlike you, have chosen to stand by my posts unlike yourself who hides behind a childish nickname.

          • I guess hiding behind sns BenjaminBossesGhost, lalaland, and vandymom is ok to do isn’t it Alex?

          • Wow. The level of paranoia you must live under must be horrible. I know Chuck and think highly of him. He was a great volunteer for the last campaign I was associated with.

    • Good luck getting Miss Mosby to do the right thing. Having watched her actions over the past few years, I couldn’t be any more let down than I am. Please Miss Mosby, change your ways!
