Hoosiers with disabilities can easily save for the future without affecting their eligibility for Social Security, Medicaid or other public benefits by opening up an ABLE account
The ABLE program, which stands for “Achieving a Better Life Experience,†provides a pathway to a better economic future for those with disabilities with tax-free savings accounts. The funds can be used to help cover qualified expenses like education, housing and transportation.
The Indiana General Assembly established the ABLE Act in 2016, which I sponsored, to help promote personal independence and choice.

Before this law, those living with disabilities were only allowed to have a maximum of $2,000 within a checking or savings account in order to keep their benefits.

Now, Hoosiers can save up to $14,000 each year. Friends and family can also make contributions.
