Aces finish in 12th place
ONEONTA, Ala. – Day three of the Graeme McDowell Invitational saw Danill Romashkin and Omar Khalid finish at one over par as the University of Evansville men’s golf team came home in 12th place at Limestone Springs.
Romashkin’s score of 73 gave him a 3-round total of 219. He tied for 44th in the final standings. His low round of the weekend was a 71 on Monday. Completing the event one behind him was Andres Rodriguez. He carded a 2-over 74 on Tuesday and wrapped up the tournament with a 220. He tied for 47th with his low score being a 71 in round two.
Omar Khalid matched Romashkin’s final-round tally of 73. Shooting a 9-over 225, he tied for 62nd. Next up was Julian Kiessling. The freshman improved in all three rounds, culminating in a 237 for his three rounds. Kiessling posted a 75 on Tuesday for his low round of the tournament. Eli Rohleder shot an 82 in the final round, resulting in a final score of 240.
UL Monroe and North Alabama were co-champions of the event. Both finished at 30-under for the weekend. Lipscomb took third, two strokes behind.
Xing Luo of UNA was the medalist. Finishing the last round with a 6-under 66, Luo tallied a 200 in his three rounds, defeating a second-place tie by two strokes.
Next week, the Purple Aces return to the course at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate in Jonesboro, Ark.
