INDIANAPOLIS – State Rep. Gail Riecken (D-Evansville) today issued the following statement after Indiana Senate Republicans revealed a state budget proposal that offered substantially less funding for the proposed regional medical campus for downtown Evansville:
“The medical school is one of the most exciting projects that we have had for our area in a number of years, especially for the promise it holds for the future. While the Indiana Senate proposal does provide some funding for the project, it doesn’t offer as much as the proposal that passed the Indiana House earlier this session. It goes without saying that this will be one of my priorities for the remaining weeks of the 2015 session. I look forward to working with my House Republican colleagues from Southwest Indiana to make sure that full funding is part of the final budget. Their leadership will be crucial in keeping this project going.â€
Can We afford it?—piling more bonded debt on the Taxpayer’s back,– for the sake of “Old Downtown” rather than supporting an alternative site just across the county line that would cost State Taxpayers less (that’s us) and not cost Evansville’s tax base (that’s you folks)– a dime,— yet still provide a economic boost to the Evansville Metro area, Indicates that the Frankenstein Mentality–spending borrowed money to revive the “Dead Zone”, still rules the Elitist Politicos (R&D) of Evansville. —-Damn the ever mounting Debt–full speed ahead!
Hard to believe the EPA will allow the construction,- resulting in more crap pouring into the Ohio River via the Antiquated sewer system of “Old Downtown”.
Yep, and the mainstream medias reporting the Warrick Epwortth road site is getting new sewer lines and a new lift station to be completed by January. Looks like they/re building the better cleaner safer infrastructure. That’s another good reason with cost affect to site the school extension there instead of downtown Evansville. That is said to be a 5 million dollar project in newer more advanced sewer accesses. Makes the Warrick site a no brainer for the campus construction now.
Also the Ohio’s really high today however that could be a good thing due to the massive 100 million gallons of raw sewage a system failure in Louisville this week.
….the idea the IU Medical School would be built in Warrick County is a joke.
Notwithstanding, the financing issues in downtown remain to be wrapped up, and the sooner, the better. Pence will come through..as will the State GOP. They have egg all over their face from wasting time and damaging State reputations on this RFRA thing, and the new medical school is an opportunity to be a champion for this area.

Resite it, there is a vibrant medical community growing out by Gateway. Stick ‘er there.
All progressives must be grateful to Ubergripe’infuhrer Riecken for her brave stance on this issue. Victory is within our grasp. She has nearly readied the 4th Pandergruppen Assault Force at the base of resistance operations in Champaign, Illinois. Our Panders will sweep east, dividing into two columns at Terre Haute, and then engulfing Indianapolis. Crack teams of crackheads and anti-religious bigots will seize the state capital and governor’s mansion, staging noisy sit-ins that will annoy the reactionary Republicans into leaving. The 2-1/4 Amphibious Strike Force has already seized a beachhead at the Evansville Marina, sinking several ships in a daring night raid.
We shall prevail!
