University of Southern Indiana Women’s Cross Country senior Jessica Reeves (Midland, Michigan) was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Runner of the Week after a third place finish at the Spartan Invite last Friday in East Lansing, Michigan.
Reeve’s time of 21 minutes, 36 seconds helped secure a second place finish for the Screaming Eagles to defeat Hillsdale University, currently ranked number-seven in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national poll. The team finish allowed USI to jump past the Chargers to number-six in the USTFCCCA poll.
It is the first GLVC weekly award of Reeves’ career at USI.
The last USI Women’s Cross Country runner to win the award was junior Emily Roberts (Fredericktown, Ohio) who won the first GLVC weekly award of 2016.
After two weeks off, USI will return to action October 1 at the Greater Louisville Classic. The women’s 5k and men’s 8k races will begin at 8 a.m. at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
