**Red Flag Alert: Evansville Rescue Mission Provides Life-Saving Relief During Extreme Heat**
**[Evansville, IN – 8/26/24]** – With temperatures soaring above 90 degrees this week, the Evansville Rescue Mission has entered Red Flag mode, offering critical support to those in need. As part of our commitment to the well-being of our community, we are opening our doors as a cooling shelter and providing water to anyone who needs it.
During this extreme heat, we invite all members of the community, especially those without access to air conditioning, to utilize our space as a safe and cool refuge. We understand the dangers that come with high temperatures and are dedicated to ensuring that everyone has a place to escape the heat.
In addition to offering a cooling shelter, we are distributing bottled water to help keep people hydrated. However, with the demand expected to exceed 5,000 water bottles this week alone, we are reaching out to the community for support.
We urgently need donations of bottled water to meet this critical need. Your generosity will help us provide essential hydration and safety to those most vulnerable during this heat wave.
**How You Can Help:**
– **Donate Bottled Water:** Drop off donations at any Evansville Rescue Mission property – Mens Residence Center (500 E. Walnut Street),The Thrift Store (1107 Washington Square) or Youth Care Center (727 Chestnut Street).
– **Monetary Donations:** Visit EvansvilleRescueMission.org to make a financial contribution that will go directly toward purchasing water and other cooling supplies.
“The extreme heat is not just uncomfortable; it’s dangerous. We want to ensure that everyone in our community has access to a cool environment and clean water during this critical time,” said Kyle Gorman, Executive Director of Advancement at the Evansville Rescue Mission. “We’re grateful for any help the community can provide to ensure we can meet the needs of those who rely on us.”
