  3. I have always said that one change in health insurance should be that your employer owns your health insurance. But that’s not what we have and the public sector has better insurance than the private sector.

    Obama care ate the Penguins.

    • As we are seeing high deductibles and more out of pocket is trickling up to public employees. This could be a good thing.

    • Do you also believe that the owner should own the slaves too? Just curious as to how far you are willing to go or just how greedy the GOP supporters really are? I remember when the coal company exeutives owned people, towns and all the other facilities that the workers needed to live. The Coal Miners formed Unions and fought for better treatment. People died but they progressed out of slavery. I think that was worth the effort. They made life better for the other miners and other union people and their future. That is only one reason why I don’t like guy’s like Donald J Trump or Mitt Romney. I’m sick and tired of rich guys acting like they own all of America and that they are the big wigs who rule everyone’s nest. I call BS on that.

    • Oh how we remember Obama’s promise that our premiums would go down by $2,500, but in fact have risen by 300%. When in the hell are we going to STOP believing these bustards. One thing Trump said the other evening was on point ..every four years those bustards come out to the inter-cities and promise the African-Americans mana from heaven they get their vote and nothing happens.

  5. Does anyone have an idea how much money the City is wasting on the idiotic N. Main Street project?

      • I usually don’t get involved in Evansville politics Joe but watching “from afar” as V used to say, it’s become such a joke that if it weren’t so sad, it’d be funny.

        So my 2 cents;

        If you are going to spend $16.7 million on a bike path on North Main, at least release a dump truck load of penguins in Garvin Park lake to make the project worthwhile.

        The lake infrastructure is already there and the late night business patrons who frequent North Main will have live targets to practice with so they quit wounding each other so much.

        Just a Quality of Life suggestion Joe. Now I’ll butt out….

        • During the summer we’ll have a bunch of dead, smelly penguins unless we constantly haul ice to cool the little guys off. That will get expensive.

          • If we don’t haul ice the penguins will haul ass. They don’t have to take that crap.

            If intrepid Great White Hunter Steve Chancellor launches a punitive safari on Mesker it will obviate the need for carcass removal. He has people for that. He is very brave.

          • Pulling a penguin out of a hat with a cool million hidden under it to purchase the ice should be a walk in the park for Coures from what I’ve observed since reading the CCO.

            But I knew I should have stayed out of Evansville politics because no matter how good of an idea someone comes up with, it always leads to more money being spent.

            But I’ve got one more idea my ole super conservative buddy JoeBiden would go along with. Dump a load of penguins in Mesker Amphitheater and air-condition it.

            If Russ Jr. can’t shuffle the books around to afford that simple little project he doesn’t have a hair in his ass.

    • Yes it is $18,000,000 of which IN-BED Ed (Haffer’s org.) is receiving $1.8 million for design and engineering ..yes old Ed who took the hotel project from 8 million to 32 million. Hopefully, somebody establishes a facebook page called WAKE UP EVANSVILLE .. Btw, like the hotel we witness old Ed’s bait and switch. Originally started at 13 mil and then Shazam the project is 18 mil and the IN-BED goes from 1.2 mil to 1.8 mil ..all that can be said is, WAKE UP EVANSVILLE

    • As president, she will make Dick Nixon look like my Sunday School teacher!!!

    • She looks to have picked up a couple of points in the overall probability, but exactly zero states have flipped in either direction. The map still shows a 272-266 Hillary victory. Her concerns should be the declining margins in CO & PA. If Trump flips those two the election becomes his to lose.

      Did you read the article about the bar in PA where the entire bar was persuaded to Trump by the debate? As a person who knows debate, I can’t understand how that debate flipped anyone but it apparently did. As in 2008, there seems to be a trend toward change.

  10. For those of you who are interested in Donald Trump’s wealth, Forbes just published the latest installment of their 34 years of keeping up with Trump.

    Their conclusion is that today he is worth $3.7B down $800M from last year’s $4.5B. Why the losses? The softening market for high end real estate has shaved Trump’s wealth by 18% this year.

    They also discuss what we may learn from his tax returns. The short answer is not very much. People who want wealth accumulation are careful to stay invested and pay themselves only to pay for day to day life. Charity also happens in the partnerships and LLCs so Forbes agrees with The Donald that the demand for his personal returns in an exercise in futility if truth is being sought.

    Any comment on political yard signs on right of ways. Many more popping up every day. It was a major concern in the primary.

    • I’d say that good citizens should take it upon themselves to get those political signs that are illegally placed in the public right of ways if people can confirm that they are there illegally. We have always had good people and well meaning organization cleaning up the city’s trash in the past. Maybe BFI would volunteer to give the volunteer worker a garbage truck to put the signs into and haul them to the land fill or recycling center?
