Yes, the Zoning Board’s decision, to deny the variance to the proposed restaurant, seems like it was in the best interests of the public. Franklin St. is getting “loved to death”, no room in the Inn.
K.C. is quoted in the paper as suggesting that there is a hidden agenda beyond the stated ‘ not enough parking’.
I think he should just go find a new location, and make his place a destination, not just a + 1 along the very crowded Franklin St. scene.
+1
This whole episode is rather comical. As one who grew up in Evansville when the main shopping area was the downtown, which afforded customers with a small amount of on street parking and a few pay-lots, I can imagine what would have happened had a government board kept a new business enterprise from opening its doors because they thought people could not find a place to park. Never would have happened then! So what has changed?
Something smells very rotten with this zoning denial.
European Union Orders British Press NOT to Report when Terrorists are Muslims

K.C. went headlong into the Westside mentality. Remember the effort of the prior City Council which attempted to eliminate the downtown parking requirements in the name of economic development and then came Weaver and Riley amendments to include Franklin & North Main ..it was at that time, the owner of Paul’s Men’s Wear on Franklin stirred up those Franklin Street westsiders and the rest is history. We should all be surprised that Franklin Street has developed into it’s current state ..remember old Jason English’s challenges at Piston’s ..those clobber-headed Westside Germans apparently do not like change ..it’s their territory, let the locals decide their fate!!!
I’m one of the west side Krauts that has lived 2 blocks north of Franklin for 61 yrs. I sometimes think you reach a tipping point on how much one area can absorb similar businesses. As I stated yesterday it seems to me that some research on the chances of getting all those variances should have been checked out before buying the property. Lamasco should have not let the city annex them many years ago. Sarcasm.
Btw ..I’m one of those Clobber-headed Dutchmen ..as I pointed out ..it’s is YOUR territory and your decisional right to choose..

Im thinking he could get a place on main street.
I will never set foot in Pistons. Can anyone tell me what businesses the Commissioners are associated with so I can boycott them too?
Knowing some near the location who have been there for ears, they are beginning to be pushed. Maybe Franklin needs a back 40 parking lot.
