IN THE HUNT

After a grueling four games in five days, the IceMen managed four points and are very much alive in the playoff race. Evansville is five points out of the eighth spot in the Western Conference with 41 games left.

ROAD WARRIORS

Evansville is 7-6-0 on the road this season and has won five of its last seven games away from the Ford Center. With only two home games left in the month of January, the IceMen travel nine times including a stretch of six road games in nine days from January 22-30.

“BIG SAVE” BENGTSBERG

Rookie goaltender Christoffer Bengtsberg returned from a 45-day stint on Injured Reserve, and the Stockholm, Sweden native played three out of four games last week. His 34 saves in Evansville’s 3-2 win December 30 at Quad City was a career best, and he made several highlight-reel saves in each of his three starts.

FULL MOON RISING

Alternate Captain Nathan Moon had arguably his best week since returning to the IceMen in a trade with Colorado November 4. Moon notched three goals and two assists in the team’s four games, and scored twice against Wichita Sunday.

GET TO KNOW INDY

The IceMen face the Indy Fuel twice this weekend in Indianapolis, after playing the first five meetings of the season at the Ford Center. Indy won three of the first five meetings and will host the IceMen four times in January and once in March, before the teams wrap up their season series March 12 in Evansville.

CARRUTH BE TOLD

Indy has won three of the first five meetings this season with Evansville, much in part due to the goaltending of Mac Carruth. The Chicago Blackhawks prospect held the IceMen to one goal in Indy’s 3-1 wins October 17 and December 19, and shutout Evansville 3-0 November 4. The IceMen did get to Carruth once, however, a 4-2 Evansville win November 6.
