PLAY FOR KATE MEMORIAL SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT RETURNS TO DEACONESS SPORTS PARK
Evansville, Indiana – September 27, 2023 – The Play for Kate Foundation, USSSA and Deaconess Sports Park will host the Play for Kate Memorial Softball Tournament, an annual event held as a tribute to a young girl from Warrick County, Indiana whose life made a significant impact. This year’s tournament will be held Friday, September 29 – Sunday, October 1 at Deaconess Sports Park.
Kate Bruggenschmidt was a bright, energetic and kind-hearted 11-year-old who had a passion for softball. Tragically, her life was cut short in an ATV accident in 2015, but Kate’s positivity and hard-working spirit continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know her.
This year’s tournament will boast nearly 50 teams from around the region gathering not just to compete but to honor Kate’s life and legacy. In addition to softball games, the event schedule includes a variety of activities including a silent auction and raffle.
All proceeds from the 2023 Play for Kate Tournament will be donated to the Love Like Ashton Pryor Foundation (LLAP). LLAP honors Ashton Pryor, Kate’s teammate and best friend whose life was also tragically cut short in a car accident in February of 2023. Profits will support the LLAP, aiding Ashton’s family and continuing the legacy of dedication, kindness and community both girls championed.
