Former Evansville Otter pitcher Ryan Etsell celebrated his 26th birthday Monday by signing a minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies.
Etsell, a Philadelphia native, compiled a 2-2 record with a 2.42 ERA in five starts for Evansville in 2018 after joining the Otters in August.
Etsell pitched collegiately at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa. He was a 16th round choice of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 2013 major league draft.
