Indiana University sophomore Noelle Peplowski was named co-Big Ten Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The honor is the first of the season for Peplowski and the fourth collected by a Hoosier this season. Senior Mohamed Samy (Big Ten Swimmer of the Week) and freshman Brendan Burns (Big Ten Freshman of the Week) each collected conference laurels on Nov. 27, 2019, while Mory Gould was named Big Ten Diver of the week earlier this afternoon.
She is the first women’s swimmer or diver to earn weekly honors since diver Jessica Parratto was named Diver of the Week on Jan. 30, 2019.
Against the No. 5 Michigan Wolverines, Peplowski dominated the field in the two breaststroke events. She earned and NCAA B cut time in a victory in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.32. She also collected a B cut time with a winning mark of 2:13.32 in the 200 breaststroke.
The Indiana Hoosiers will be back in the pool for a dual meet on Jan. 25 against archrival Purdue.
