The Indiana Black Legislative Caucus (IBLC) is hosting town hall meetings throughout the state to inform the public about political issues and address concerns constituents have for Indiana.
With two already in the books, upcoming meetings include Michigan City July 12, Fort Wayne Aug. 9, Terre Haute August 23, South Bend Sept. 13 and East Chicago Sept. 20.
The IBLC has been hosting these town halls for several years, a tradition meant to help lawmakers engage with citizens directly after each legislative session. Topics that will be discussed include legislation that was previously enacted, providing resources to residents, property taxes, the state budget, health care, education, etc.
“It’s really getting out there and getting feedback on what has happened and discuss with people things that are going on in their lives because we as their legislator do things that impact their lives,” said Earl Harris Jr., D-East Chicago, chair of the IBLC.
