USI Romain College of Business Accounting Program receives five-year AACSB accreditation renewal

The University of Southern Indiana Romain College of Business has received a five-year extension on its accreditation for its Accounting Program from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International, the world’s largest and longest-serving accrediting body for business schools.

AACSB accreditation is considered the “gold standard” for business accreditation. The Romain College of Business is among only 2% of business schools, globally, to have earned AACSB accreditation for its Business and Accounting Programs. USI recently received a five-year extension on its accreditation for its Business Programs in April of 2023.

“To be counted among a select 2% of business schools, globally, is a matter of great pride for us,” said Dr. Sudesh Mujumdar, Dean of the Romain College of Business. “The award of extension of Accounting accreditation is a testament to the fine work of our world-class faculty, contributions of our outstanding graduates, highly supportive USI leadership and community partners.”

Achieving accreditation is a multi-year process of rigorous internal focus, engagement with an AACSB-assigned mentor and peer-reviewed evaluation. Institutions must develop and implement a plan to align with accreditation standards. These standards require excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation; student, faculty, and staff as active participants; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement.

“USI has a long history of excellence in accounting education. The extension of AACSB Accounting accreditation is a testament of that excellence and is due to the hard work of our faculty and staff,” added Dr. Thomas Noland, Chair of Accounting and Finance and Professor of Accounting. “I would also like to thank members of the Accounting Circle and Young Professionals for their contributions to our Accounting Program and the accreditation process.”

The Romain College of Business offers undergraduate programs in accounting, business administration, computer information systems, computer science, economics, finance, management and marketing as well as both a traditional and an online Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program, with the online MBA program having earned additional accolades of being ranked among the best online MBA programs by U.S. News and World Report for 2023 and 2022. The Romain College of Business also boasts a portfolio of four state-of-the-art laboratories which form the anchor of its value proposition—leveraging technology in unique ways to build market-leading competencies in a personalized, co-created learning environment.

Evansville, IN (August 1, 2023) – The Vanderburgh Humane Society (VHS) will once again be providing free vaccinations for pets in Vanderburgh County at their next monthly community outreach event on August 21, 2023. The free vaccines are made possible through Petco Love’s new national vaccination initiative, which is providing one million more free pet vaccines to existing animal welfare partners, including the VHS, for family pets in need. Families will also be able to receive free pet food while supplies last thanks to Chewy and Humane Society of the United States, and free microchips thanks to Best Friends. The event as a whole is made possible by the Best Friends Prince & Paws Shelter Collaborative, and will be the sixth such event hosted by the VHS and Evansville Animal Care & Control in 2023.

Parvovirus and distemper in dogs and panleukopenia in cats — the most prevalent deadly diseases affecting pets — are preventable with a simple vaccine. An estimated 30% of pet parents do not take their pet to a veterinarian annually for preventative care. To ensure the health and wellness of our beloved pets and to address this critical need, the VHS and Petco Love have partnered to make pet vaccines free and accessible.

Through this national effort, the VHS aims to vaccinate 500 pets overall. 240 pets received vaccines at the July event, with the remaining 260 expected to be vaccinated in August and October. The next event is Monday, August 21st, 2023 at the Vanderburgh Humane Society from 12:00-4:00. It is first-come first-served with no pre-registration required, and is available to Vanderburgh County residents only. Vaccine records will be provided. Puppies & kittens must be at least 6 weeks of age. Adult dogs must be leashed, cats & kittens must be in individual carriers, and puppies who have not received their full series of vaccines yet should be carried ONLY, not placed on the ground, for their safety.

The free vaccines distributed at events through the Petco Love initiative will be the DAPPv Canine and HCP Feline vaccines. There will not be rabies vaccines available.

“Thanks to Petco Love, we can offer these important vaccine events at no cost to pet owners,” said Amanda Coburn, Director of Advancement. “We urge community members to take advantage of this no-cost resource to ensure the health and wellness of our community’s pets.”

“It is heartbreaking when any pet suffers or dies from a disease that could have been prevented. It is further exacerbated when unvaccinated pets come into busy shelter kennels, where these deadly diseases can spread quickly, resulting in multiple deaths, skyrocketing expenses, and hindering saving pet lives,” said Susanne Kogut, Petco Love President. “By creating greater awareness and making this crucial preventative care more accessible to pets not currently receiving these lifesaving vaccines, we can prevent the dangerous spread of disease.”

Oliver’s Heroes K-9 Charity

0

A newly formed charity created by a local restaurateur and members of the Sheriff’s Office will hold their inaugural golf scramble next Friday, August 25, 2023.

Oliver’s Heroes was formed by Mr. Joe Sells, owner of Rounder’s Too in Daylight, Indiana. The charity directly benefits retired K-9s, paying for their veterinarian care and nutritional needs.

The Sheriff’s Office has no funding to support K-9s once they retire and separate from the agency. Oliver’s Heroes ensures these animals that have given so much to our community are properly supported during their remaining years.

Washington, PA. – The Evansville Otters recorded 12 hits but fell into an early hole and dropped a series opener 10-4 to the Washington Wild Things on Friday night at Wild Things Stadium.

Phillips hit his solo blast in the second inning before the Wild Things responded in the third inning, benefiting from four walks to score two runs and take a 5-1 lead.

Washington extended the lead with a walk followed by a double and a two-out single scoring two more in the fifth inning.

A three-run homer in the sixth inning capped the scoring for the Wild Things.

The Wild Things’ lefty starter Kobe Foster twirled seven innings, allowing one run on five hits and earned the win.

The Otters plated three runs in the eighth off the Wild Things’ bullpen. George Callil started the inning with a single as part of a two-hit day.
