“We are very excited to have Lexi as part of our team and family here at USI,” USI Women’s Basketball Head Coach Rick Stein said. “She fits perfectly into our style of play and our team culture here at USI.”

Sepulveda comes to USI out of Plainfield East High School, where she averaged 22.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.1 steals, and 2.3 assists in 2022-23 as a junior. Her squad won 22 games last year. Additionally, Sepulveda surpassed 1,000 high school career points last season as a junior.

Sepulveda’s other accolades from last season included two All-Tournament team selections, Player of the Year and All-Conference First Team selection in the SPC East, and First-Team Herald News All-Area selection.

“Lexi can make plays in many ways on both ends of the court,” Stein added. “She can score it off the bounce and from three, and she is a solid playmaker for her teammates. Her ability to guard on and off the ball really makes her a tough defender as well.”

Sepulveda also played club basketball for Mac Irvin Lady Fire S40 – Godfather.

Governor orders immediate action on state’s water studies

Indiana Finance Authority to lead state water study efforts

INDIANAPOLIS – Today, Governor Eric J. Holcomb announced major actions to provide the necessary and reliable data needed for future short- and- long-term water policy and planning in Indiana:

  1. Governor Holcomb has directed the Indiana Finance Authority (IFA) to begin exclusive oversight of the completion and validation of the INTERA water supply study currently underway along the Wabash River in Tippecanoe County expected to be completed and peer reviewed in January 2024. This study was originally commissioned and overseen by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) to operate at the speed of business and market demands positioning Indiana for further capital investment.
  2. Holcomb has also instructed IFA to accelerate the start of a planned comprehensive regional water study for north-central Indiana that will examine watersheds covering Tippecanoe County and at least 12 other area counties including Benton, Cass, Carroll, Clinton, Fountain, Howard, Montgomery, Parke, Tipton, Vermillion, Warren, White with potentially more being invited to be participate.
    • This comprehensive study, which will take into account future population and economic growth for the region, will be completed in Fall 2024.
    • Its results will incorporate the INTERA findings on overall water supply in the area to provide a complete picture of in-depth data needed to properly determine the amount of water that can responsibly be used to support all projected growth needs in the region and throughout the state.
    • This study will be the fourth such comprehensive regional water study that IFA has conducted since 2017.
  3. Finally, Governor Holcomb has asked IFA to add new water monitoring devices in the area to support this regional study while providing the public assurance that water use and availability will continue to be tracked accurately and in real-time.

“I am confident that these new efforts led by IFA will provide the necessary data to gain a greater understanding of the amount of excess water that is truly available to support all the surrounding region’s growth prior to any action being taken that could inadvertently jeopardize this needed resource.  No entity is better suited to lead this overall pursuit than the IFA which will approach this study in the same methodical, collaborative, and transparent manner the organization has conducted in the past.” Gov. Holcomb said.

“This is the natural next step to the data collection and will allow us the time to fully understand the region’s resource in order to continue our state’s unprecedented momentum in attracting employers that create high-wage careers.”

For more information on past studies and key updates on the announced actions please follow IFA’s website here.

EPA Proposes Updates to Strengthen the Safer Choice Standard

0
WASHINGTON (Nov. 13, 2023) – Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced proposed updates to the Safer Choice Standard, which identifies the requirements that products and their ingredients must meet to earn EPA’s Safer Choice label or Design for the Environment (DfE) logo. The Agency is requesting public comments on the proposed updates by Jan. 16, 2024, and will hold a webinar on Dec. 19, 2023, to provide information on proposed updates to the Standard.
The Safer Choice program helps consumers and purchasers for facilities, such as schools and office buildings, find cleaners, detergents, and other products made with chemical ingredients that are safer for human health and the environment. Similarly, the DfE program helps people find disinfectants that meet high standards for human health and the environment.
“The Safer Choice program continues to encourage safer and greener chemistry in the marketplace to safeguard human health and protect the environment,” said EPA Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention Deputy Assistant Administrator for Pollution Prevention Jennie Romer. “These proposed updates to the Safer Choice Standard will increase transparency, safety, and sustainability in consumer and commercial products.”
EPA’s proposed updates to the Standard include:
•  New certification for cleaning service providers that use Safer Choice- and DfE-certified products to help protect workers that use cleaning products all day as well as the people who live or work in the spaces they clean.
•  Strengthening sustainable packaging requirements in response to consumer demand and innovations in packaging materials and technologies.
•  Expanded criteria specific to pet care products to ensure such products use only the safest possible ingredients for both humans and pets.
•  Clarifying language on EPA’s process for entering product classes and exiting those that pose unexpected risks despite safer chemistry.
•  Clarifying language regarding the use of data from New Approach Methodologies during Safer Choice chemical review.
•  New, optional energy efficiency or use reduction criteria to encourage companies to reduce water use and carbon-based energy consumption.
•  Updated criteria for wipe products to help reduce damage to wastewater treatment systems.
•  Potential creation of a new alternate logo, similar to the Fragrance-Free logo, to distinguish products used outdoors that meet additional EPA criteria for environmental safety.
EPA periodically updates the Standard to keep current with the state of scientific and technological innovation; increase transparency and reduce redundancy; and expand the scope of the program as appropriate. This will be EPA’s fourth update of the Standard since its inception in 2009, and the first since 2015.
On Dec. 19, 2023, 2-3 p.m. ET, EPA will hold a webinar to provide further information on the proposed updates to the Standard. The webinar may be of interest to stakeholders interested in commenting on the updates, including manufacturers and distributors, retailers, community groups and representatives from states, Tribal Nations, non-profit organizations, trade associations, and others. Register here for the webinar.
Upon publication of the Federal Register notice, comments should be submitted to docket EPA-HQ-OPPT-2023-0520 on Regulations.gov by Jan. 16, 2024.
EPA will use the written comments to guide updates to the Standard.
