VANDERBURGH SHERIFF’S OFFICE CURRENT Â BOOKINGS
As you are aware, the Public Health Emergency officially ended on May 11, 2023, with the Appendix K PHE flexibilities phasing out Nov. 11, 2023. During these flexibilities, individuals who were receiving Structured Family Care (SFC) could also receive Attendant Care (ATTC), Home and Community Assistance (HCA), and Transportation Assisted/Unassisted services. Many care managers have been working over the past several months to coordinate Service Plan updates, but there are still existing Service Plans where these services are overlapping.
CaMSS will be implementing a stop in the system to prevent any overlap in these services effective Jan. 1, 2024. To prevent any issues with updating Service Plans in the future, care managers must update existing Service Plans where Structured Family Care appears in the same months as Attendant Care, Home and Community Assistance, or Transportation. These updates should be coordinated immediately.
The CaMSS team will be monitoring these updates and will be sending a list of Service Plans that have not been updated to each area. Any issues resulting from timely updates not being done will require a help desk ticket to resolve. To avoid any issues, please don’t delay making the appropriate updates.

Attorney General Todd Rokita continues to call on the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to stop plans to impose stringent new emissions standards on power plants in Indiana and elsewhere without fulfilling its legal duty of first weighing costs and energy impacts.
“These ill-considered rules would force the closure of coal- and natural gas-fired power plants,â€Â Attorney General Rokita said. “They would put Hoosiers out of work, raise Hoosiers’ energy prices and erode the reliability of our energy grid. We will not stand idly by while federal overreach strangles the Indiana economy.â€
Along with attorneys general from 15 other states, Attorney General Rokita called this week for retraction of the proposed new rules in a letter to EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan.
The EPA has admitted to the validity of concerns expressed in a letter earlier this year from Attorney General Rokita and others. Instead of fixing problems with the new proposed rules or withdrawing them, however, the EPA simply tasked other stakeholders with coming up with solutions.
Attorney General Rokita noted that the new rule-making exceeds the EPA’s statutory authority and would reshape the nation’s electricity grid in an unlawful and destructive manner. The Clean Air Act requires that the EPA consider the cost and energy impacts of emission reduction measures.
“Hoosiers expect and deserve federal policies that protect both America’s environment and its energy infrastructure now and into the future,†Attorney General Rokita said. “These rules completely fail on that count. That’s why we are taking action to scuttle the flawed new rules and produce a better blueprint to serve businesses, communities and individual households.â€

“Rushed and secret negotiations with Democrats who want an open border and who caused the current crisis will not secure the border,†the senators wrote.
WASHINGTON – Senator Mike Braun joined a letter with 14 of his Senate GOP colleagues requesting a meeting of the Conference the week of January 8, 2024 to discuss the negotiations with President Biden and Senate Democrats regarding border security.
The letter also notes that the process should be open and transparent, because “[r]ushed and secret negotiations with Democrats who want an open border and who caused the current crisis will not secure the border.â€
The American people are broadly in support of taking action to fix the southern border crisis. A Wall Street Journal poll last week found 64% of Americans regardless of party affiliation disapprove of President Biden’s handling of the southern border. In another Wall Street Journal poll, Americans noted the southern border and illegal immigration as the second most important issue in the country behind the economy.
Senator Braun was joined on this letter by Senators Ron Johnson (R-Wis), Mike Lee (R-Utah), Rick Scott (R-Fla.), J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Ted Budd (R-N.C.), Jim Risch (R-Idaho.), Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kan.), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).

The Honorable John Barrasso
Chairman
Senate Republican Conference
Dear Senator Barrasso:
We write to request that you call a meeting of the Conference to discuss Senate negotiations on securing the border. Rushed and secret negotiations with Democrats who want an open border and who caused the current crisis will not secure the border. The American public deserves an open and transparent process which cannot occur until the House returns the week of January 8, 2024. Accordingly, we request this Conference be held the week of January 8th, but not before.
Peoria, Ill.:  In an extremely back-and-forth game that saw Evansville take the lead four separate times with Peoria neutralizing each lead, the Thunderbolts battled their way to a 5-4 shootout win over the Rivermen on Friday night at Peoria Civic Center. The Thunderbolts’ next home game will be on Sunday, December 31st against the Macon Mayhem, puck drop at 7:00pm CT.
After a scoreless first period, Bair Gendunov opened the scoring at 1:43 of the second period off a Rivermen turnover, assisted by Myles Abbate and Tommy Stang. The goal extended Gendunov’s point streak to eight consecutive games and counting. The Rivermen tied the game at 2:55 off a deflection goal by Andrew Durham. At 6:06, Mike Ferraro scored on a breakaway from Scott Kirton to put Evansville ahead 2-1, before a power play goal from Zach Wilkie at 10:13 tied the game at 2-2. Late in the second period, Ferraro scored once again off a net-front scramble from Lincoln Hatten and Nick Prestia at 18:34 to again put Evansville ahead, 3-2 after two periods.
1:30 into the third period, Joseph Widmar scored to tie the game once again for Peoria at 3-3. A few minutes later, a low-angle shot by Brendan Harrogate put Evansville ahead 4-3 at 5:21, assisted by Hayden Ford. Once again, Peoria managed to tie the game as Alec Baer scored on a late 5-on-3 at 17:04. After a scoreless overtime highlighted by a key save from Cole Ceci on an Alec Hagaman breakaway in the final minute, the game went to a shootout. Gendunov and Kirton scored for Evansville while Ceci stopped 4 of 5 Rivermen attempts, and the Thunderbolts came up victorious and won their 4th straight game, now only a single point under the playoff line with 6 wins in their past 8 games.
Ferraro finished with a pair of goals, while Gendunov and Harrogate scored one goal each, along with Kirton scoring the shootout-winning goal.  Cole Ceci picked up his 6th win of the season by stopping 23 of 27 shots in regulation and overtime.  The Thunderbolts and Rivermen meet again on Saturday, December 23rd at Peoria Civic Center.
CARBONDALE, Ill. – University of Southern Indiana Men’s Basketball could not overcome a series of first half runs and lost to Southern Illinois University, 81-50, Friday evening at the Banterra Center in Carbondale, Illinois. The Screaming Eagles fall to 3-10 after tonight’s action, while the Salukis are 8-4 overall in 2023-24.
It was a hard 20 minutes to start the game for the Eagles as they found themselves in a hole, 39-14, at the intermission. The Salukis took command of the game in the first half with a series of small runs, including an 11-0 sprint that gave them a 34-9 margin with 3:52 before halftime.
USI’s offense also could not get out of neutral as it was held to 18.8 percent from the field (6-32).
In the second half, USI tried to pick up the pace but was only able to generate most of it offense from the free throw line. The Eagles got to the stripe 24 times, connecting on 17.
Â
Despite getting to the line and shooting better in the final 20 minutes (34.8 percent; 8-23), USI was unable to cutting the SIU margin. The Salukis outscored the Eagles in the final 20 minutes, 42-36.
USI sophomore AJ Smith (Edwardsville, Illinois) was the only Eagle to reach double-digits with 14 points. Smith also recorded his fifth double-double of the season with a game-high 10 rebounds.
Â
Â
Next Up For USI:
USI is off until next Friday when it continues its three-game road swing with the start of Ohio Valley Conference action with visits to Southeast Missouri State University December 29 and Lindenwood University December 31.
