Gov. Holcomb Concludes Trade Mission To Brazil And Mexico
INDIANAPOLIS (April 22, 2024) – Governor Eric J. Holcomb and First Lady Janet Holcomb returned Friday night from a trade mission with leaders from the agbiosciences and agriculture sectors as well as representatives of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC).
The delegation included: Alex Cochran, Chief Technology Officer, of DPH Biologicals; Mitch Frazier, CEO, of AgriNovus Indiana; Courtney Kingery, CEO, of Indiana Corn Marketing Council & Indiana Soybean Alliance; Don Lamb, Director of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture; Jerry Shively, Associate Dean for International Programs, College of Agriculture, Purdue University; Leonardo Chapula, Human Sector Marketing Specialist, Americas, U.S. Soybean Export Council; Doug Newcom, vice president of genetics and technology at the National Swine Registry; and Paul Siems, export sales manager at Weaver Popcorn.
Brazil and Mexico, like Indiana, both share robust agbiosciences and agricultural industries, advancing global services, products and solutions across agriculture, food production and animal health. Indiana trade between Brazil and Mexico topped $1.7 billion and $13.4 billion in 2023, respectively, and the state is already home to 14 Brazil-based and 13 Mexico-based business establishments. The Governor’s trip allowed some of Indiana’s leading agtech thinkers and innovators to share expertise and highlighted Indiana’s $58 billion-dollar ag economy in two key markets. More broadly, the trip to Mexico also highlighted new opportunities in emerging industries such as microelectronics and e-mobility.

USI to present 40th annual Historic New Harmony Heritage Artisans Day
USI is excited to present Historic New Harmony’s 40th annual Heritage Artisans Days, happening Wednesday through Friday, April 24-26. Artisans will demonstrate their professions and roles as they were in the 19th century. Students from the Tri-state area will hear and see how these artisans lived and worked in the early days of New Harmony.

USI Rethinking Autism Conference to aim to shift lens on autism
The University will present the 2024 Rethinking Autism Conference from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 25 in Carter Hall, located in University Center West. The Conference is intended for physicians, nurses, therapists, mental health professionals, community providers, students and parents. Registration is required.

USI to celebrate graduates, honorees during 2024 Spring Commencement Ceremonies
USI will hold five Commencement Ceremonies over two days, Friday and Saturday, May 3-4, in the Screaming Eagles Arena to recognize students from the Class of 2024 and six Honorary degree recipients.

USI to partner with Evansville African American Museum to present Black Art Workshop Weekend and Exhibition
The USI Art and Design Department will partner with the Evansville African American Museum to present the Black Art Workshop and Exhibition in the McCutchan Art Center/Pace Galleries, located in the lower level of the Liberal Arts Center. The workshop event is set for Friday, June 28 through Sunday, June 30, and the exhibition will run Monday, June 24 to Friday, August 30.
Parker highlights day two for men’s golf
Aces move up to 8th spot
SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. – Posting a 2-over 74 on Monday, Carson Parker led the University of Evansville men’s golf team in the second round of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship at The Golf Club at Porta Cima.
Parker’s round led the Purple Aces as the team jumped to 8th place in the team standings. Combined with his opening-round 75, Parker is tied for 22nd with a 149 entering Tuesday’s final round. Daniil Romashkin continues to led the way for UE. After carding a 1-under 71 to open play, Romashkin wrapped up Monday’s round with a 77. His 148 is tied for 18th. Caleb Wassmer is third for Evansville with a 152. He lowered his score by two strokes to a 75 on Monday and is tied for 30th with a 152.
Nicholas Gushrowski sits fourth for the Aces. Totals of 77 and 82 have him tied for 44th with a 159. Isaac Rohleder made the largest jump of the day for UE. Following an opening-round 84, Rohleder posted a 78 in the second round and has a 162.
As a team, UE has a 604, putting them 8th in the current standings. The Aces are three in front of Illinois State and just one behind Bradley. Southern Illinois goes into the final 18 holes with a 14-stroke lead over Missouri State. SIU as a 565 with the Bears checking in with a 579. Edouard Cereto of SIU is the individual leader with a 136. He posted a 5-under 67 in round two and leads the field by four.
