Secretary Clinton was talking about the fellow who made the supposedly Islamophobic video that supposedly set off the sacking of the Benghazi consulate. And, indeed, she did “have that person arrested.” By happy coincidence, his bail hearing has been set for three days after the election, by which time he will have served his purpose.”

“The only remaining question was whether the administration had knowingly lied or was merely innocently stupid. The innocent-stupidity line became harder to maintain this week after Fox News obtained State Department e-mails revealing that shortly after 4 p.m. Eastern, less than a half hour after the assault in Benghazi began, the White House situation room knew the exact nature of it.

“After seven hours fighting numerically superior forces, my son’s life was sacrificed because of the White House’s decision. Why would Obama and Biden do such a thing? Because to launch a military operation against an al-Qaeda affiliate on the anniversary of 9/11 would have exposed the hollowness of their boast through convention week and the days thereafter — that Osama was dead and al-Qaeda was finished. And so Ty Woods, Glen Doherty, Sean Smith, and Chris Stevens were left to die, and a decision taken to blame an entirely irrelevant video and, as Secretary Clinton threatened, “have that person arrested.” And, in the weeks that followed, the government of the United States lied to its own citizens as thoroughly and energetically as any totalitarian state, complete with the midnight knock on the door from not-so-secret policemen sent to haul the designated fall-guy into custody.”

“The Obama administration created a wholly fictional story line, and devoted its full resources to maintaining it…Nevertheless, when the president and other prominent officials stand by as four Americans die and then abuse their sacrifice as contemptuously as this administration did, decency requires that they be voted out of office as an act of urgent political hygiene.”

“Charles Woods says that at the ceremony Joe Biden strolled over to him and by way of condolence said in a “loud and boisterous” voice, “Did your son always have balls the size of cue balls?”

“Yet oddly enough, the more furiously Obama and Biden have waved their binders and talked up Sandra Fluke, the more his supposed lead among women has withered away.”

“Both videos — the one faking Obamagasm and the one faking a Benghazi pretext — exemplify the wretched shrinkage that befalls those unable to conceive of anything except in the most self-servingly political terms. Both, in different ways, exemplify why Obama and Biden are unfit for office. One video testifies to a horrible murderous lie at the heart of a head of state’s most solemn responsibility, the other to the glib shallow narcissism of a pop-culture presidency, right down to the numbing relentless peer pressure: C’mon, all the cool kids are doing it; why be the last hold-out?

If voting for Obama is like the first time you have sex, it’s very difficult to lose your virginity twice. A flailing, pitiful campaign has now adopted Queen Victoria’s supposed wedding advice to her daughter: “Lie back and think of England.” Lie back and think of America. And then get up and get dressed. Who wants to sleep with a $16 trillion broke loser twice?

Karl J.R. Arndt’s A Documentary History of the Indiana Decade of the Harmony Society 1814 – 1824 opens a window on the doubts and certitude of George and Frederick Rapp. George wrote his adopted son, Frederick, a letter from New Harmony, Indiana dated March 10, 1815 (see pp. 106 – 109) and said:

“Your letter (from Frederick to George) convinced me that your presence at home (Pennsylvania) was very necessary, that difficulties had developed. It is with our people as with Israel when Moses was on the Mount of Sinai for forty days. They began to make idols. When will our people learn to be prudent? It is very good that you cleansed the community again (emphasis added). Further, it is astonishing how the enemy (the Devil?) lays out snares and nets where he found occasion in the lusts of marriage. You have done well in putting off a disgrace to me and the congregation for this time.”

The letter provides no other details, but one surmises George saw himself as the modern Moses and, perhaps, saw Frederick’s actions much as those of Jesus in cleansing the temple of the money changers with carnal knowledge being the culprit that needed to be expelled.
In his letter, George further vents his frustrations to Frederick concerning George’s inability to purchase the property that now is Mt. Vernon from the McFaddens:

“Concerning the land sale (in Harmonie, Pennsylvania), you may do as you think best and as fate extends a hand to you. I cannot do anything about McFerle’s (McFadden’s) land (in Posey County, Indiana). They are really stubborn. They believe that the county seat will come there and one party will make a petition for this purpose.”

Posey County’s first county seat was at Blackford, but the McFaddens were campaigning for it to be moved to McFadden’s Bluff (Mt. Vernon). This may explain the largesse of Frederick Rapp’s donation of land to the county in return for the county seat being moved from Blackford to Springfield in 1817. However, it appears the Harmonists were out maneuvered by the “south of Big Creek” faction as Mt. Vernon became the county seat only eight years later.
It is fortunate we have these marvelous letters preserving the details of the Utopian community that has been so significant in our county’s history. As one reads of the purchase of land or the making of whiskey or the hopes for the second coming, it brings to mind what our posterity will have to refer to.
Somehow it just does not seem likely that an email message or a Facebook post will give our descendants of the year 2215 much faith in the value of what we have left them. Let’s see, “R u ok?; Y, u?” coupled with an image of someone T. Bowing, leaves one somewhat less than satisfied.

INDIANAPOLIS – Attorney General Greg Zoeller’s office today filed an emergency petition asking the Indiana Board of Pharmacy to suspend the license of the Massachusetts pharmacy linked to the meningitis outbreak.

On Thursday, the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) confirmed 43 cases of fungal meningitis and three deaths stemming from a tainted steroid injection produced by the New England Compounding Center (NECC) based in Framingham, Mass. As a licensed non-resident pharmacy whose products are distributed and sold in Indiana, NECC is legally responsible for the “proper and safe storage and distribution of drugs and devices.”

“It is tragically clear that this out-of-state pharmacy presents an immediate danger to public health and safety,” Zoeller said. “Our office will use all available resources to ensure Indiana patients are protected from any more harm and to pursue a formal administrative action against the company’s ability to operate in our state.”

The Indiana Board of Pharmacy will consider the petition for summary suspension at its next meeting which begins at 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 5. The meeting will be held in Room W064 of the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency, Indiana Government Center South, 402 W. Washington St., in Indianapolis.

If the suspension is granted, the NECC could not operate in Indiana for 90 days which would give the Attorney General’s Office time to file a formal licensing complaint before the pharmacy board. Once an administrative complaint is filed, the board could then determine the appropriate disciplinary action.

According to ISDH, there are now 1,502 people in Indiana who have been exposed to the contaminated medication through an epidural or joint injection. Patients exposed in Indiana have been contacted by their healthcare provider.

“These are uncharted waters, but we are learning more about these infections every day,” said Joan Duwve, M.D., Chief Medical Officer at ISDH. “The State Health Department has been working diligently with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to assist Indiana medical providers with the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of infections related to use of these contaminated products. We will continue to do so until this outbreak is resolved.”

In September, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in coordination with the Food and Drug Administration identified the NECC as the compounding pharmacy that produced the epidural steroid injections that caused the onset of meningitis in certain patients. Shortly after, NECC ceased production and initiated a recall of the drugs.

As of Oct. 25, the CDC had indentified 328 cases of fungal meningitis across 18 states stemming from NECC’s tainted steroid injections. The cause of contamination of the steroid injections is still under investigation.

In-state pharmacies, including those engaging in sterile compounding, are subject to inspection by the Board of Pharmacy’s Compliance Officers. The board’s administrative rules and inspections of sterile compounding facilities address, among other things: policies and procedures; engineering controls/physical requirements; personnel training; labeling and documentation/records and reports; and quality assurance measures.

Non-resident pharmacies registered in Indiana are required by Indiana Code to comply with the laws and rules of the state in which they are domiciled. In order to be registered as an Indiana non-resident pharmacy, an applicant must submit numerous documents and fulfill various duties, including verification of the pharmacy’s licensure in its home state. The Indiana Board of Pharmacy relies on other state boards of pharmacy to regulate licensees in their jurisdiction.
