MILL SPRINGS, NC. – University of Southern Indiana Women’s Golf opened the season at the Bright Creek Intercollegiate, hosted by Gardner-Webb University. The event featured four NCAA Division I schools that included three rounds of play on Saturday and Sunday. The Screaming Eagles finished the three rounds in fourth place.

The final standings of Intercollegiate was host Gardner-Webb, Presbyterian College, North Carolina A&T, and USI. The Eagles put themselves in a hole after a day one score of 360 as a team. USI made a massive improvement in round two with a team score of 339. Finally, they finished on Sunday with a score of 341.

USI was represented by senior Halle Gutwein (DeMotte, Indiana), senior Katelyn Sayyalinh (Rockford, Illinois), junior Baileigh Schneider (Huntingburg, Indiana), and freshman Alexis Wymer (Bridgeport, Illinois).

Gutwein led the Eagles with a 17th place finish at +40 on the weekend. Schneider was right behind her with a 19th place finish at +41.

USI College of Liberal Arts to hold 16th annual Interdisciplinary Colloquium in conjunction with Solarpalooza
The University of Southern Indiana College of Liberal Arts will present Eclipse: The 16th annual Interdisciplinary Colloquium from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, April 8 as part of Solarpalooza and before the total solar eclipse beginning at 2:02 p.m.
Solarpalooza at USI will offer unobstructed sky views and learning opportunities to educators, students and the community that uniquely position the University as the prime location for viewing the eclipse.
Students and faculty are being asked to propose papers, panels, artwork, posters, performances or workshops for the Colloquium that will allow the community to explore the many facets of eclipses, from their scientific underpinnings to their cultural and historical significance. “There will be a mixture of faculty and student presentations exploring the concept of eclipses, both literal and metaphorical for this special colloquium,†said Dr. Alexandra Natoli, Assistant Professor of French and event organizer.

Indiana State Police Seeks Police Officers for the Capitol Police Section Selection Process
The Indiana State Police Capitol Police Section is accepting applications for traditional and lateral applicants. Individuals interested in beginning a rewarding career as a Capitol Police Officer may apply online at https://www.in.gov/isp/career-opportunities/capitol-police/. This website provides a detailed synopsis of the application process and information on additional career opportunities with the Indiana State Police. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 pm (EST) on Sunday, March 31, 2024.Â
The starting salary for a Capitol Police Probationary Officer is $62,327 a year. Â After the first year of employment, the salary will increase to $64,472.Â
The starting salary for Retired or Police Officers in good standing with their agency having twenty (20) or more years of experience as a Tier I or Tier II Officer is $75,431.
Basic Eligibility Requirements for Traditional Applicants:
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Must be at least 21 years of age when appointed as a police employee.
- Traditional Recruit Graduation/Appointment Date: September 21, 2024
- Must meet a minimum vision standard (corrected or uncorrected) of 20/50 acuity in each eye and 20/50 distant binocular acuity in both eyes.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license to operate an automobile.

Lateral Applicants:
Must be a merit law enforcement officer with an Indiana Law Enforcement Tier I or Tier II Certification. A finishing school will begin on June 24, 2024.
