EFD to Host Public Safety Fair

EFD to Host Public Safety Fair

Many times the community only gets to see members of Public Safety when they are responding to an emergency. The Evansville Fire Department and other Public Safety agencies want to showcase their equipment and services without the dangers and the situation of an actual emergency.

On Sunday October 21st, from noon to 4PM, many of Evansville’s Public Safety providers will have demonstrations and displays so the community can see how well these agencies are prepared when the need arises.

The Evansville Fire Department will include displays on Firefighting, Fire Prevention, Investigation, Disaster Preparedness, Vehicle Extrication, Hazmat, Dive Rescue, Rope Rescue and Confined Space Rescue.

Other agencies also participating in the Fair; Evansville Police Department, Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, EMA, AMR, Deaconess Hospital, Red Cross, Safe Kids of Vanderburgh/Warrick Counties, the Mayor’s No Meth Task Force and Ohio Valley Search and Rescue.

There will be a Kids Combat Challenge Course set up to inspire our next generation of Firefighters. Car Seat Safety and Don’t Talk/Text & Drive information will be available. Come watch Mayor Winnecke and Police Chief Bolin wash a Fire Truck to “payoff” on the 2012 Guns & Hoses wager.

Food and beverages will be served by Firefighter’s Local 357.

The Fair will be hosted at EFD’s Administration Building, 550 SE 8th Street.

The Federal Budget Reduced to Personal Terms: from a friend in Florida

Where we are as a country:

* U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
* Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000

* National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
* Recent budget cuts: $ 38,500,000,000

Let’s now remove 8 zeros and pretend it’s a household budget:

If the Government was a family here’s the family budget:

* Annual family income: $21,700
* Money the family spent: $38,200
* New debt on the credit card: $16,500
* Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
* Total budget cuts: $385

Got It ?????

So what do our readers recommend for this family to do next?

IS IT TRUE October 15, 2012

The Mole #??

IS IT TRUE October 15, 2012

IS IT TRUE that both the immediate and long term actions with respect to Roberts Stadium are sitting in limbo for the most part because no real consensus was agreed to by the people of Evansville?… in spite of Mayor Weinzapfel’s Dave Rector led assault on Roberts followed by Mayor Winnecke’s window dressing committee formed to make it look as though a rational collaborative process was being followed that the proponents of both sides are still at each other’s throats?…the Evansville City Council has effectively made the state of limbo permanent by choosing not to appropriate any money to do the demolition by a 6 – 3 vote?…this is just the vote to take Roberts down and has nothing at all to do with what to do with the site after the stadium is turned into a pile of rubble that will resemble Mayor Weinzapfel’s Rock Pile that lingered downtown for longer than it should have?…this latest about face would not be happening if a rational plan with funding had been adopted before the assault on the stadium began?

IS IT TRUE we are hearing that many of the fixtures in the stadium like toilets, lights, and windows were sold at the auction and that the removal process did not take care in their removal?…that we furthermore are hearing from Mole #28 and others that Councilwoman Missy Mosby has now decided that rapid demolition is the right thing to do?…that it seems as though old Rector must have given Ms. Mosby a guided tour of the wreckage and shown her the catastrophic damages in order to secure her vote to set money aside to pay Wreck It Ralph to raze Roberts Stadium to the ground?…all of the things that supposedly convinced Ms. Mosby to join Team Wreck It Ralph are things that would have been done to refurbish Roberts anyway?…the Wrecking crew led by Dave Rector on behalf of two mayors finally seems to have done enough destruction to eliminate selling Roberts to some private investor in turn key condition from consideration?…the best course of action is still to hold one more auction and sell Roberts Stadium as is to the highest bidder?…the second best course of action is to proceed with the demolition and then auction the site to the highest bidder?…that Councilwomen Mosby and Robinson were spot on in their analysis of whether Mayor Winnecke should be going forward with a dog and skateboard park at a price tag of nearly $10 Million when all is said and done?…their analysis was “we are all parked out and don’t maintain what we have?”…these are two smart women when it comes to spending money we don’t have on something we don’t have the resources to take care of?

IS IT TRUE that the Common Council of the City of Evansville will be meeting tonight at 5:30 on the 3rd floor of the Civic Center to discuss the 2013 Budget?…it will be interesting to see if the reset button has really been hit yet with respect to reconciliation of the account of the City of Evansville?…the City Council may have gotten tricked into passing a 2012 budget by the Weinzapfel Administration but that has left much egg on their faces and they should not pass another budget until reconciliation is complete and the MIPS software is confirmed to be working as Big Dan from Umbaugh said it was last week?…that in addition to the MIPS failures and the cost of taxpayer dollars associated with said failures, the City Council would be wise to quiz the Utility Department that proceeded against the advice of engineering, and implemented the “Canopy” software which was supposed monitor the sewage overflows into the Ohio River and Pigeon Creek?…there are approximately 21-22 entry points on both of these tributaries?…unfortunately only about 5 of those points functioned under the software?… the Utility has abandoned the software for cell phone technology which appears to be operational but once again wasted taxpayer money on a boondoggle that changed nothing for the better?…we wonder if “Canopy” was dumbed down like the MIPS was to appease some people that seem to like the dark ages?…maybe the Water and Sewer Utility of the City of Evansville should revert to smoke signals to communicate and cave paintings to add?

IS IT TRUE there should be some investigation regarding the work that Steve Titzer’s firm Harding Shymanski did for the Water and Sewer Utility trying to fix the MIPS software package before anyone found out the books could not be reconciled?…that Mr. Titzer was a signer on the Johnson Controls contract shoved through in the last hour by the Weinzapfel Administration?…he signed as an appointed member of the board?…that such arrangements where board members firms do compensated work for the entities that they serve on the board of are frowned upon in most local government entities?…the true status between the Evansville Water and Sewer Utility and Mr. Titzer should be investigated for approval by the Winnecke Administration?…the reason is that this certainly has the appearance of conflict of interest and the people of Evansville should be given the courtesy of assuring them it is not by the Office of the Mayor that appoints board members to the Water and Sewer Utility?

Meth Suppression Presentation

0

EVANSVILLE, IN – Mayor Winnecke’s No Meth Task Force will host a special presentation by the Indiana State Police and Evansville/Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force Meth Suppression Unit to raise awareness about the continuing problem of methamphetamine and to solicit support for proposed legislation making pseudoephedrine a prescription-only drug.

The presentation will be at the C.K. Newsome Community Center, 100 E. Walnut St., on Monday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m.

The presentation will be conducted by ISP Meth Suppression Section Commander Niki Crawford, ISP Sgt. Paul Andry, and Evansville Police Department Det. Brock Hensley. The session will cover the types and cost of supplies, equipment and personal protective gear necessary to safely and properly process a clandestine lab, how a meth lab crime scene is processed, and updates on meth cook processes and pseudoephedrine and chemical reagent smurfing trends. Updates will be provided for states that have legislatively instituted PSE blocking and tracking systems and those that have returned PSE to a prescription-only drug.

Commander Crawford has been with the Indiana State Police for 19 years. She has been assigned to the Meth Suppression Section since 2005 when it was developed and implemented as a full time section of drug investigators within the Criminal Investigation Division. Media interested in a live interview with Commander Crawford during the evening newscasts should contact Ella Johnson-Watson to make arrangements.

Scapegoating Hillary Clinton, OBAMA BITES THE HAND THAT FEEDS HIM, BY PAUL MIRENGOFF

6

OBAMA BITES THE HAND THAT FEEDS HIM

Former President Clinton has been working overtime to drag Barack Obama across the finish line in this year’s election. Clinton has been hands-down President Obama’s most effective advocate. His personal credibility may not be substantial, but unlike Obama, Clinton produced a non-disastrous presidency. Thus, his overall credibility vastly exceeds that of the current president.

So how is Obama awarding Clinton for his heavy lifting? By throwing Clinton’s wife under the Benghazi bus, it appears. On Friday, White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters that responsibility for the consulate in Libya fell on the State Department, not the White House. This followed Joe Biden’s claim during the Thursday debate that “we” (apparently meaning Biden and Obama) knew nothing about the Libya mission’s request to the State Department for extra security.

To save his political career, Obama would throw his own grandmother under the bus she supposedly rode to her job at the bank everyday because his grandfather thought it would be racist to give her a ride. And Biden’s 2016 presidential ambitions (no, I’m not joking) provide him with an extra incentive to see Hillary Clinton become the fall-gal for Benghazi.

How is Bill Clinton taking this? According to author Ed Klein, he is not taking it lying down. Klein says that sources close to the Clinton are telling him that Bill Clinton has assembled an informal legal team to discuss how the Secretary of State should deal with the issue of being blamed for not preventing the Benghazi terrorist attack last month.

I’m sure Bill Clinton is furious. But what he hopes to accomplish through a legal team (assuming the accuracy of Klein’s report) isn’t clear. I don’t believe there’s a defamation suit in anyone’s future over this.

Klein says that the Clintons are contemplating the option of Hillary resigning in the event Obama continues to make her the scapegoat. But this would be a very risky play. If she resigned before the election, Democrats would never forgive her for undermining Obama’s reelection chances in a fit of pique. If she resigned after the election, assuming an Obama victory, the president probably would happily accept it, and she would be out in the cold. That might not be a terrible place to be considering what a second Obama term likely would hold in store. However, Hillary would be leaving under a cloud.

Hillary’s leverage is at its peak now, when Bill is leading the Obama reelection charge and when a sudden resignation would represent a huge setback for Obama. The Clintons can try to use this leverage to halt White House efforts to scapegoat Hillary. Then, they can hope the issue blows over.

However, the Benghazi story isn’t likely to blow over. And after November 6, the Clintons can do nothing to avoid the scapegoating of Hillary by the Obama administration.
