Gallup-Rasmussen Averages Show Romney maintaining lead on President Obama Updated: 10/29/2012

16

The Rasmussen Tracking poll today shows President Obama trailing Mitt Romney by 49% – 47% while Gallup’s Tracking poll that just shifted to likely voters from registered voters shows Mitt Romney leading the Obama campaign by 51% -46%.

The average of these two polls is now showing the Romney/Ryan campaign with 50.0% and the Obama/Biden at 46.5%. The Romney campaign has maintained a lead that is both above 50% and larger than the margin of error of the polls for 12 days now.

Real Clear Politics today has 10 polls, 4 of which are comprised completely of data taken after the last debate which indicate an overall lead for Romney of 0.8%. When the 4 post debates polls are averaged Governor Romney leads by a full 1.8%

Polls now indicate that only between 3% and 5% of those polled have not expressed an opinion putting the undecideds in a position to choose the next President but less so than before. Polls consistently give 2% of the vote to other candidates lead by Gary Johnson, the Libertarian candidate for President.

Nearly 60% of the those polled think the country is on the wrong track while under 40% think we are on the right track.

President Obama still enjoys an approval rating of just under 50% matching the disapproval rating showing the country as evenly polarized as possible.

The once wide likability margin that the President once had over Mitt Romney has been erased in post debate polling with both candidates being seen as equally favorable at just over 50%.

In electoral news the “no toss up” score at 281 – 257 in favor of President Obama. The obvious meaning here is that Ohio which electionprojection.com has favoring President Obama by a thin 1.1% after holding a near double digit lead before the debates holds the most defined key to the White House. Given the state of the race today whoever wins Ohio wins the Presidency. Today Rasmussen gives Romney a 2% lead in Ohio and a statewide newspaper consortium calls the race even at 49% each.

News Release

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – I-69 is one of the few new-terrain interstates being constructed in the United States. As access to an interstate is key to economic development, University of Southern Indiana has initiated discussions – including an initial meeting on November 12 in Huntingburg, Ind. — to ensure thoughtful consideration and collaborative planning is in place for this important opportunity in the region.

“By bringing together industry leaders, community leaders, and other key stakeholders to discuss the potential that the I-69 development brings, we can maximize the economic development opportunities, especially around high-tech and innovation businesses,” said Mark Bernhard, associate provost for USI’s Division of Outreach and Engagement. “We want to fully engage others to capitalize on the opportunity in front of us.”

“Significantly increased accessibility and connectivity through strengthened infrastructure have a measurable impact on economic growth,” said R.J. Reynolds, president and CEO of Radius Indiana, a regional partnership representing eight counties in South Central Indiana.

“Indiana is one of the top five states in which to do business and is now forging ahead by strengthening its infrastructure with I-69. As we all work together to build and support the I-69 Innovation Corridor, the impact on economic growth for the region will be greater than we’ve yet conceived.”

Participants have been invited to attend a planning meeting November 12 to share their insights, opinions, and suggestions regarding the potential for the EVV-Crane I-69 Innovation Corridor Development. Topics for discussion include understanding the economic potential for the region, including technology transfer from Crane, and how those opportunities can be realized along the interstate corridor.

“Innovation needs to become a core competency as we work to solve complex problems now and in the future,” Don Schulte, director of engagement for Crane, said. “I believe this initiative provides great opportunities to develop systematic and disciplined regional approaches to innovation that can be leveraged to develop a culture that promotes technology-based economic development.”

As the planning continues, information regarding outcomes and progress will be shared with the public.

British group watching as USI High Altitude Balloon Flight attempts to break world record

0

The engineering design and analysis class at the University of Southern Indiana will be conducting its ninth high altitude balloon flight from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, October 27, during which the class will attempt to set a world record for the highest altitude release of a paper airplane.

The previous record is held by The Register’s Special Projects Bureau in the United Kingdom. The record was set in October 2010 with the launch of their PARIS Vulture 1 spaceplane. The Register recently learned about USI’s attempt to the break the record and will be following and reporting on the project from the UK. You can see the full story in the The Register at http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/10/26/paper_aircraft_attempt/.

The USI class plans to launch the balloon from a site near Rend Lake in Southern Illinois. The landing and retrieval is expected to take place somewhere in Southern Gibson County in Indiana.

Mission Control for the event will be located in USI’s Business and Engineering Center Room 1005. Interested parties will be able to view the launch and the flight trajectory of both the balloon and the paper airplane.

The trajectory of the balloon can be viewed online at http://aprs.fi using the call sign W9MOK.

The trajectory of the paper airplane can also be followed using the call sign W9MOK-2.

IS IT TRUE October 29, 2012

IS IT TRUE October 29, 2012

IS IT TRUE in Friday’s October 26 Courier & Press on page 10A, Rick Davis was quoted as saying the following: “Government was not meant to be efficient. Government was meant to be fair,” Davis said?…the City County Observer has to question the accuracy of this quote and it really does not sound like something that Mr. Davis would say and flies in the face of how he conducts business as an elected official?…such a statement also is inconsistent with the manner in which Rick Davis ran for Mayor and lives his personal life?…we offer our pages as a forum for any candidate for local, state, or national office to let us know what they think about efficiency and fairness in government?…as a practical manner it seems to be impossible for a government that is mired up in gross inefficiency to have any possibility of claiming to be FAIR?…a government can indeed be inefficient and equitable but when it comes to fairness there is really no way to be fair and inefficient as fairness requires a high level of efficiency?…we shall explain this in the following paragraph?

IS IT TRUE that a government that is so inefficient and mired up in regulation and paperwork that it spends $700 on a hammer that can be bought a Lowe’s or the Home Depot for $30 is not fair to any taxpayer at any level of taxation?…such a system of ineptness and inefficiency is no more fair than a government that enters into a contract to buy gasoline for its fleet of vehicles at $90.00 per gallon when gas is abundantly available in the free market for $4 per gallon?…forcing people’s taxes to pay for such gross inefficiencies by governments that overpay for everyday items by thousands of percents is the very definition of unfairness?…that to be quite frank about it, any government that is not efficient cannot claim to be FAIR to even one of its citizens?

IS IT TRUE that some of the polls released regarding the Presidential Election are publishing micro-results that are mathematically impossible to be consistent with the top line numbers of who is ahead and by how much in the election?…a perfect example is a poll released that stated that Romney is leading President Obama by a margin of 47% to 45% that the details contained their estimate that 52% of voters will be female and 48% male?…this poll stated that Mitt Romney was finally leading among women by 2% but leads the President among men by double digits?…that whatever may be true right now for the top line numbers it is absolutely impossible for the above referenced poll to be correct in all that it said?…this really is ARITHMETIC and it doesn’t work?

IS IT TRUE that MOLE #13 tells us that the annual IT budget for the Ford Center is $165,000 but that other similar venues in comparable markets are paying closer to $50,000 for that line item?…VenuWorks had the contract for the IT services at the Ford Center thrust upon them by the City of Evansville through the Evansville Redevelopment Commission?…with mandated contracts that cost over 200% more for the same service than it would in another location sort of ties VenuWorks hands when it comes to being efficient in operating their business and our Arena?…this is just one more example of extreme waste and ineptness in local government during recent history?…this IT revelation on the heels of the City of Evansville issuing a check for over $1.6 Million and not even knowing it at a time that bank statements could not be reconciled really should be a cause for mass overhaul of local government?…speaking of inefficiency the government of the City of Evansville has it bad in both day to day management and future lack of vision?…wanting to spend $20 Million on 8 ball fields or nearly $10 Million of a dog park is not the dreams of a visionary, these are the status quo actions of a runaway bureaucratic nonsense?

The Incredible Shrinking President: by Mark Steyn

Excerpts:

“We’re going to have that person arrested and prosecuted that did the video,” said Hillary Clinton. Secretary Clinton was talking about the fellow who made the supposedly Islamophobic video that supposedly set off the sacking of the Benghazi consulate. And, indeed, she did “have that person arrested.” By happy coincidence, his bail hearing has been set for three days after the election, by which time he will have served his purpose.”

“The only remaining question was whether the administration had knowingly lied or was merely innocently stupid. The innocent-stupidity line became harder to maintain this week after Fox News obtained State Department e-mails revealing that shortly after 4 p.m. Eastern, less than a half hour after the assault in Benghazi began, the White House situation room knew the exact nature of it.

“After seven hours fighting numerically superior forces, my son’s life was sacrificed because of the White House’s decision. Why would Obama and Biden do such a thing? Because to launch a military operation against an al-Qaeda affiliate on the anniversary of 9/11 would have exposed the hollowness of their boast through convention week and the days thereafter — that Osama was dead and al-Qaeda was finished. And so Ty Woods, Glen Doherty, Sean Smith, and Chris Stevens were left to die, and a decision taken to blame an entirely irrelevant video and, as Secretary Clinton threatened, “have that person arrested.” And, in the weeks that followed, the government of the United States lied to its own citizens as thoroughly and energetically as any totalitarian state, complete with the midnight knock on the door from not-so-secret policemen sent to haul the designated fall-guy into custody.”

“The Obama administration created a wholly fictional story line, and devoted its full resources to maintaining it…Nevertheless, when the president and other prominent officials stand by as four Americans die and then abuse their sacrifice as contemptuously as this administration did, decency requires that they be voted out of office as an act of urgent political hygiene.”

“Charles Woods says that at the ceremony Joe Biden strolled over to him and by way of condolence said in a “loud and boisterous” voice, “Did your son always have balls the size of cue balls?”

“Yet oddly enough, the more furiously Obama and Biden have waved their binders and talked up Sandra Fluke, the more his supposed lead among women has withered away.”

“Both videos — the one faking Obamagasm and the one faking a Benghazi pretext — exemplify the wretched shrinkage that befalls those unable to conceive of anything except in the most self-servingly political terms. Both, in different ways, exemplify why Obama and Biden are unfit for office. One video testifies to a horrible murderous lie at the heart of a head of state’s most solemn responsibility, the other to the glib shallow narcissism of a pop-culture presidency, right down to the numbing relentless peer pressure: C’mon, all the cool kids are doing it; why be the last hold-out?

If voting for Obama is like the first time you have sex, it’s very difficult to lose your virginity twice. A flailing, pitiful campaign has now adopted Queen Victoria’s supposed wedding advice to her daughter: “Lie back and think of England.” Lie back and think of America. And then get up and get dressed. Who wants to sleep with a $16 trillion broke loser twice?
