It was a naughty night out on Wednesday night for more than 1,000 area women (and a number of men who were talked into escorting them) who came to see SPANK! The Fifty Shades Parody at the Victory Theatre. While the show primarily pokes over-the-top fun at the popular Fifty Shades of Grey book trilogy, a number of other pop culture hallmarks were hilariously spoofed during the laugh-a-second production. The three person cast, consisting of Amanda Barker as bawdy writer “E.B. Janet,†Alice Moran as ingenue “Tasha Woode†and Gabe Bowling as the sexy, autocratic billionaire “Hugh Hanson†played well off each other in semi-improv
performances that included a lot of interaction with the delighted audience.
“It was delightful to see a production of this size do so well at drawing the audience into the performance,†said General Manager Ben Bolander. “This style of off-Broadway entertainment can do very well in Evansville, and the Victory Theatre hopes to fill that niche for years to come.â€
The Victory Theatre has an active summer schedule with upcoming shows that include B.B. King June 5, Jagged Edge June 15, The 2013 Jägermeister Country Tour featuring Aaron Lewis June 23, Gregg Allman June 25, “Weird Al†Yankovic – The Alpocalypse Tour July 27, and Don Williams October 17.
Francesca is a 2-year-old tabbycat who has been at the VHS since February, so she is ready to kick off summer with her new forever family! She came to the shelter with several other cats whose owner decided they had too many animals. She is litterbox-trained, and she lives in the cageless cat lounge at the shelter. This just means that she is comfortable sharing her food and space with other kitties. She is very friendly to cat lounge visitors, and soaks up all the attention she can get! Francesca’s adoption fee is $30, which includes her spay, vaccinations, microchip, and a bag of food.

Two Evansville men were arrested after an active meth lab was found in an east side home Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators from the Meth Suppression Unit went to 11 S. Welworth after receiving a tip that 20 year old Christopher Thomas was manufacturing meth at the house. As officers pulled up to the house, they saw several people arguing in the front yard.
When the investigators tried to intervene, Thomas fled from them. Several other people were detained, including the homeowner, 37 year old Jasen Yoder. While officers were searching for Thomas, a resident in the 200 block of S. Thomas called 911 about a man in their garage. Officers arrived and found Thomas hiding in a trash can in the garage. He was arrested after a brief struggle.
During the investigation at the house on Welworth, officers found an active one-pot meth lab and other items commonly used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine. Yoder told officers his two children lived with him in the home, but were with a grandparent at the time. CPS was notified and the Grandparent kept the children.
Thomas was arrested for Manufacturing Meth and Resisting Law Enforcement. Yoder was arrested for Manufacturing Meth and Neglect of Dependent.

IS IT TRUE CCO Mole #29 tells us that there has been some rumor mongering going on in downtown Evansville about the whereabouts of Joe Wallace, Editor of the CCO and Managing Director of the Coachella Valley Innovation Hub?…our Mole tells us that the rumor mongers are saying that Joe is no longer living in California and is basically unable to be found?…nothing could be further from the truth as the CViHub just opened its new accelerator campus at the Palm Springs International Airport at full capacity and has attracted three companies from out of state in 2013?…at this grand opening Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet declared that the CViHub program has “such momentum that it cannot be stoppedâ€?…the most recent business to come into the CViHub program is Silicon Springs Ventures, a start-up venture capital firm formed by former Silicon Valley VC’s who see the momentum and join two angel networks that already operate out of the CViHub?…life is good in Palm Springs for Mr. Wallace who starts most days by putting together IS IT TRUE for the CCO before going off to do his duties at the CViHub?
IS IT TRUE that Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke ran on a platform that included expanding the utilization of the Partnership Intermediary Agreement (PIA) signed between GAGE and the Crane NAVSEA Division on September 3, 2008 AND on establishing an investment fund to support entrepreneurs?…while the news is full of stories about dog parks, platinum plated water meters, skateboard half-pipes, and subsidizing a downtown hotel complex with $37.5 Million taxpayer dollars, we have not heard a single solitary piece of propaganda about technology transfer or the formation of a functional investment fund?…as has been pointed out to the powers that be time and time again, without a viable investment community in start-up businesses the best local entrepreneurs will either give up and take a job or pack up and leave?…youthful talent, educated professionals, venture investors, and entrepreneurs have the potential to add more value to a local economy than all of the hotels, arenas, parks, amphitheatres, zoos, and ball parks that any mayor could ever afford to subsidize with taxpayer dollars?…perhaps the City Council can redirect the funds that are dreamed of for more fun and games into a more promising area like a private matched angel investment fund?…the alternative is to fuel the brain drain and keep driving the talent and ambition out of town?
IS IT TRUE the day after being attributed with making the impossible statement that a 253 room hotel would increase room night sales by 40%, CVB Executive Director Bob Warren has had his contract extended by three years?…the CCO being a supporter of the kind of analytical thought that Mr. Warren sees this as a positive move if Mr. Warren is indeed allowed to keep thinking as opposed to wearing the puppet strings that so often come with these kinds of jobs in Evansville?…as we opined yesterday, we really wonder who wrote the talking points for Mr. Warren when it came to the details of the projected economic impact of a downtown convention hotel?…the timing of the contract extension even take on the appearance of a reward for following orders?…we certainly wish Mr. Warren success in bringing conventions to town but wish the projections published looked more like realism and less like the tales of Baron von Munchausen?
IS IT TRUE that some of the testimony before Congress yesterday by top Internal Revenue Service (IRS) executives was stunning in the sense that these people do not even think it is wrong to single out groups for IRS scrutiny because of political views that dissent from the views of President Obama?…we have scandals in the federal departments of state, justice, and revenue that should make the country blush and change course?…when senior government officials do not even know right from wrong we have a very serious problem?…it is time for another intervention at the federal level like the one in 2008 that swept President Obama into the White House?…it is time this country learned that details and execution matter as much or more than hopes and dreams?…what this country, and many of the local governments in it need now are doers as opposed to dreamers?
One of the great things about living in America is the American Spirit and the willingness of people to come to the aid of others during tragic events. The recent tornadoes in Oklahoma have already brought volunteers to the area and others will certainly follow. Still others unable to travel to Oklahoma will be very generous by donating money, clothing, and other needs to assist with the relief efforts. While such tragedies oftentimes will bring out the best in most people, still there are those few who will take advantage of the misfortune of others for personal gain. Hoosiers should be aware of people taking the opportunity in light of the recent catastrophic events in Oklahoma to play on the generosity of those willing to help out monetarily. Citizens are cautioned to be skeptical of those going from door-to-door or making individual phone calls to residents claiming to be collecting for tornado relief. If you are contacted by someone asking for donations, ask questions to determine whether or not your contribution will actually go to the tornado relief efforts. Ask the person collecting for credentials, what organization they represent, if there is an address donations can be sent, etc. Ask the person if they have a business card with a website or other information that can be verified through other reliable sources such as the Better Business Bureau or the Attorney General’s Office. If you are approached and feel someone is trying to scam you try to get as much information as possible such as a name, description of the person, description of the vehicle including color, make, and license number if possible then contact local police, sheriff, or your nearest Indiana State Police Post.
The best way to contribute to the relief efforts is to donate money and other needed articles through known legitimate organizations such as the American Red Cross or through local churches collecting for tornado relief. Be aware, be vigilant, and don’t get scammed.

An Evansville Police Officer was injured while trying to arrest a fleeing drug dealer on Tuesday afternoon.
Police stopped an SUV after the driver committed several traffic violations. Officers pulled the SUV over on the north side of Bayard Park. As officers walked up to the vehicle, the front passenger, 19 year old JAMARCUS JONES, got out of the vehicle and ran. Officers chased JONES through the park. One of the officers caught JONES and took him to the ground. As they fell to the ground, the officer dislocated his shoulder. JONES got back up and continued to run. He was caught by assisting officers and taken into custody. During the chase, JONES tried to discard over $800 and a cell phone. The cash and the cell phone were recovered by officers. Officers also recovered 4 grams of cocaine from the SUV that Jones dropped as he got out to run.
The officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment and later released.
During the investigation, the driver was identified as 26 year old LUCIEN HARRIS. HARRIS was in possession of 10 Oxycodone pills and marijuana. He was also in possession of a .40cal handgun. HARRIS did not a have a prescription for the pills. He did have a permit for the weapon.
The rear passenger was identified as 19 year old DEARIEL SIMMONS. SIMMONS gave officers a fake name in an attempt to avoid being arrested on a Felony probation violation warrant.
All three were arrested and are in the Vanderburgh County Jail.

Vanderburgh County – Wednesday morning, May 22, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Indiana State Police and detectives from the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force executed a search warrant at 5015 East Sycamore Street in Evansville after receiving information the tenant of the apartment, Johnathan Henderson, 46, was allegedly involved in sharing child pornography.
In November 2012, a detective with the Indiana State Police Crimes Against Children Unit initiated an investigation into an unknown person sharing child pornographic images via a peer-to-peer file sharing network. During the investigation, the detective was able to download multiple images depicting child pornography and trace the online activity to Henderson’s residence in Evansville.
