Board accepts suspension of Evansville pain clinic physician

State’s petition alleges Crowley not present for writing of 513 prescriptions

INDIANAPOLIS –The Indiana Medical Licensing Board accepted an agreement to summarily suspend the medical license of an Evansville-area pain clinic physician, following the State’s filing a petition alleging that the doctor has engaged in dangerous prescribing practices and has allowed non-qualified individuals to issue prescriptions under her name.

Dr. Diane Crowley of Holland, Ind., agreed to the summary suspension of her medical license sought by the Indiana Attorney General’s Office. The Medical Licensing Board voted Thursday night to accept the summary suspension agreement which will be in effect for 90 days. At a later hearing, the Attorney General’s Office would have the opportunity to present the State’s evidence against Crowley.

The State’s petition, filed February 26, notes that Dr. Crowley is employed at Med 1st, a pain management facility in Evansville. The investigation determined that Crowley was herself hospitalized and not in the office to write prescriptions on dates where a total 513 prescriptions were issued to patients under her name. The petition alleges that Crowley pre-signed blank prescription forms using her DEA registration number, and then the prescription orders were filled in by other individuals, including chiropractors and other workers not allowed to prescribe controlled substances.

The State’s petition also alleges that Dr. Crowley has administered “facet block injections” to patients at the Med 1st clinic despite not having the appropriate education, training or experience to perform such intricate interventional procedures. The State’s petition alleges Crowley has failed to use the appropriate standard of care.

“This physician would present a clear and immediate danger to public health and safety if allowed to practice, and so it is imperative that the public be protected in the meantime with a suspension order until a disciplinary licensing hearing can be scheduled,” Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller said. The Attorney General’s Health Licensing Division brings licensing petitions to the Medical Licensing Board, which would decide what disciplinary action to impose against the physician’s license, if any.

The disciplinary licensing petition filed by the Attorney General’s Office takes place as the Indiana General Assembly is considering legislation to combat pain clinics that overprescribe addictive narcotic painkillers and put patients at risk. Senate Bill 246, which imposes various new requirements on such clinics, passed unanimously in the Indiana Senate on Monday and advanced to the Indiana House. The legislation was recommended by Attorney General Zoeller, who chairs the state’s Prescription Drug Abuse Task Force.

IS IT TRUE March 1, 2013

The Mole #??
The Mole #??

IS IT TRUE March 1, 2013

IS IT TRUE in spite of the fact that there was no ridiculous event like the Maingate City Council fiasco of 2012, the traffic of the City County Observer in February 2013 continued to grow and exceeded the fiasco fueled record month of February 2012?…as long as we continue to report bold things like the First Lady of Evansville’s claim that “Republicans control the Evansville City Council” our traffic will continue to grow at the expense of other media?…we do wonder just which 4 Democrats are considered under the thumb of the Winnecke Administration by the First Lady?

IS IT TRUE that the month of March has made its entry into 2013 and that the planned spending cuts known as SEQUESTER are now upon us?…the sun came up this morning, none of the upcoming flights have been cancelled, online banking is working great, the stock market is near an all time high, not one teacher has been laid off as the White House has claimed, and life in this United States is pretty much as it has been for the last few weeks?…in truth the Obama Administration created the SEQUESTER for political purposes thinking all along it would never happen yet it has with the only fanfare coming from the carnival barkers at the White House?…SEQUESTER is only a 2.4% cut in spending or a paltry 0.5% of the existing federal debt?…today the Obama Administration and the Congress woke up to the same reality that every American worker woke up to on January 1st and that reality is a 2% cut in discretionary spending?…every American adjusted to that reality within a week and it is not too much to ask of our elected leaders to do the same?…the other reality that may be forced onto the federal government by their debt holders is the reality that hit many private citizens four years ago?…that is an interest rate increase?…if you really want to see a disaster that disrupts the federal government that would be an interest rate increase?…a rise to only 7% or 8% would render our government incapable of spending money on anything but interest?…most all of us remember interest rates like that and higher?…if the federal government does not get control of the debt “America the Beautiful” may just be changed to “Don’t Cry for me Argentina”?

IS IT TRUE that speaking of debt it seems as though the government of the City of Evansville now has about $400 Million of debt on our books?…that amounts to $3,400 per resident or $8,000 per household including the 10,000 uninhabitable houses?…when compared to a bigger and dumber city like Chicago or Detroit, Evansville’s debt does not look so terrible?…when the sewers are all brought into compliance with the EPA mandate Evansville’s debt will be closer to a Billion Dollars bringing it right alongside those bigger and dumber cities that are known for corruption and lose population at rates that in Detroit’s case exceed the losses associated with a military invasion by an outside power?…that what Detroit has done to itself could not have been done by an outside saboteur?…seeing the fate of these decaying cities it defies logic to copy even one page from their playbook?…those pages include borrowing money to build temples to sport, banning guns, and providing incentives to entertainers?…the results speak for themselves?

IS IT TRUE the Indiana Venture Club in Indianapolis has no businesses scheduled to pitch any investment opportunities to them for their March meeting?…that perhaps their conservative nature and their irrational valuation demands (greed) have rendered them irrelevant?…when a group that hangs out a shingle advertising investment dollars for equity can’t even get an entrepreneur to make a presentation there is something very wrong?…the Indiana Venture Club is not alone in suffering from an entrepreneur shortage?…such Venture Clubs all over the country reacted to the new economic realities of the last four years and changed their evaluation criteria and the chickens have come home to roost?…the shortage of investments in emerging businesses can be traced right to the White House and Congress who are borrowing so much money that little is left for private business while raising taxes to the point that the returns on investment are no longer attractive?…American entrepreneurs will hopefully adapt and bring for new businesses for all of our benefit because according to the Kauffman Foundation 100% of net new jobs come from companies less than 5 years old?…we should not have to imagine a country without employment?

“2013 Start of Indiana Disability Awareness Month in Evansville”

0

( March 1, 2013 – Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Advisory Board on Disability Services will be celebrating the start of “Indiana Disability Awareness Month” at the Board’s regular meeting on March 1, 2013 in the Kevin Winternheimer Chambers, Civic Center room 301. The event will begin at 11:00 A.M. with Mayor Winnecke reading a proclamation declaring March as “Disability Awareness Month” in Evansville. This will be the 23rd year since March was selected by The Governor’s Council on People with Disabilities (GCPD). This is month to give special awareness in Indiana about discriminations and inequalities faced by nearly 20% of all Hoosiers.

Evansville Police Chief, Billy Bolin; Sherriff Eric Williams and Evansville Fire Department Representative, Ken Huber: will be making remarks about the 911 Registry. This form is to be filled out by people with disabilities and recorded by the Evansville/Vanderburgh County Dispatch to notify emergency personnel about people with disabilities at addresses where an emergency has occurred. Sherriff Williams and Michelle Kirk, Director of Sycamore Services and Recording Secretary of the Advisory Board, will talk about the “Deaf Driver: cards. The Advisory Board will, also, summarize the Icemen event and have copies of their “Resource Guide” available. The guide has information for people with disabilities and their friends and families to find help for specialized and general needs.

The Advisory Board on Disability Services was created to improve services and relations with City-County government and the disability community. The Advisory Board meets the first Friday of the month at 11:00 a.m. in the Kevin Winternheimer Chambers, Room 301 in the Civic Center Complex. For more information regarding the Advisory Board on Disability Services, contact Don Counts.

The following was taken from the “Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities” web site and refers to “Indiana Disability Awareness Month”:

“Each March, Disability Awareness Month is celebrated throughout Indiana.

And given that adults and children with disabilities represent slightly more than 19 percent of Indiana’s population, disability awareness is important for all of us. Led by the Indiana Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities, the goal of Disability Awareness Month is to increase awareness and promote independence, integration and inclusion of all people with disabilities. The Council develops a unique theme for this annual event and produces campaign materials that are available free of charge to Hoosiers who want to help make a difference.

The 2013 campaign theme is “Community Connections.” The poster artwork features a fully connected, livable community with appropriate housing, supportive and accessible community services, and physical and environmental features that allow everyone to live independently. The text, “Access, engagement and relationships.” reminds us of the vital links that make a connected, livable community. If our communities are to grow and prosper, we must develop “Community Connections” through access, civic engagement and by encouraging neighbors to support one another. This year’s Disability Awareness Month campaign materials are sponsored by Duke Energy.

This is the 23rd year for Disability Awareness Month. Won’t you join thousands of advocates and people with disabilities across the state by conducting community-based activities? Activities include events such as mayoral proclamations; art contests; and awareness campaigns in schools, businesses and government agencies. Please visit our Materials Library to view and/or download materials that can help you plan and conduct an event in your area.

Congressman Larry Bucshon received the “American Conservative Union Conservative” award this morning.

0

bucshon.png 1

Congressman Bucshon released the following statement:

“I am honored that the American Conservative Union recognized my strong conservative record today,” said Congressman Larry Bucshon. “During my time in Congress, I have consistently fought to cut spending, keep taxes low, bring good paying jobs to Hoosiers, and reform healthcare. I was elected to bring Hoosier common sense to Washington, DC and I will continue to do so.”

Al Cardenas, Chairman of the American Conservative Union, also stated:

“Congressman Larry Bucshon’s ACU rating of ‘88’ in 2012 and ‘86’ over two years of service shows a consistent commitment to conservative principles on a wide range of issues and we are delighted to present him with the ACU Conservative award for the second consecutive year.”

About ACU ratings – Throughout the history of the conservative ratings program, ACU has become the go-to source for determining whether an elected official’s philosophical rhetoric matches his or her record. The guides provide a comprehensive analysis of the legislative landscape over the preceding year. This differentiates ACU from other useful guides which may emphasize single areas, like taxes, defense, or social policy. The ACU tracks a wide range of issues before Congress to determine which issues and votes serve as a clear litmus test separating those representatives who defend liberty and liberal members who have turned their backs on our founding principles – constitutionally limited government, individual liberty, free markets, a strong national defense and traditional American values.

The “ACU Conservative” award is given to those members who scored 80 percent or higher.
