Indiana State Police Lafayette Post Will Conduct D.U.I. Checkpoint

1

ISPOn the late evening of November 15th, the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post will conduct an enforcement check point targeting impaired drivers in Clinton County. A saturation patrol will be occurring before and after the checkpoint.

Motorists are asked to have their driver’s license and vehicle registrations available when entering the checkpoint. This will help minimize the amount of time spent at the checkpoint. Motorists can expect short delays of only two to three minutes.

“The goal of the checkpoint is to decrease the number of alcohol related crashes in the area.” Sergeant Dave Murray explains. “This will help in decreasing the number of crashes in a high crash zone area.”

Reminders so motorists do not find themselves “Over the Limit and Under Arrest”:

• Plan ahead and always designate a sober driver before consuming alcohol.
• Don’t drive your vehicle if you’ve been drinking alcohol. Call a taxi or a sober friend. A cab ride is cheaper than a D.U.I. arrest.
• Take care of your friends. Never let a friend drive while impaired. Take their keys.
• If you are hosting a party, always offer non-alcoholic beverages. Make sure all of your guests leave with a sober driver.
• Never provide alcohol to anyone under the legal drinking age of 21.

Motorists are encouraged to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911. Give a vehicle description and direction of travel. Never follow an impaired driver.

For Barack Obama, here’s a website that works a little too well: MyCancellation.com is posting cancellation letters from people who may have liked their health insurance but can’t keep it.

In little more than a week, the site has collected more than 400 letters – and attracted more than 10,000 Twitter followers.

The conservative group Independent Women’s Voice is behind the project. Its president and CEO, Heather Higgins, says it’s an effort to give voice to people on the losing end of Obamacare.

“This is just the first wave, and we wanted to give them a face and a place to tell their story,” Higgins said.

You can read the growing list of letters on the following website:

IS IT TRUE November 12, 2013

IS IT TRUE November 12, 2013

IS IT TRUE that the Evansville Museum of Arts and Sciences is proud to be recognized as one of the few Museums in the United States to tout the ownership of one of Picasso’s original works of art, an original, that experts say is extraordinarily unique in character and nature of Picasso’s techniques?…the Museum wishes to offer the work of art to any of Picasso’s admirers?… Experts indicate that the prize piece may command astounding offers of as high as $50 Million?…that the community should be excited and thrilled that in the fine art world Evansville is now on the radar?…that before this extraordinary piece of fine art departs the confines of the halls of the Evansville Museum, the citizens of Evansville should have the opportunity to view the Picasso masterpiece considering that the City has been such a major financial supporter of the new addition to the Museum?…the Mayor wants the city to donate $25,000 to the Museum so the Evansville Police Department personnel can provide security in order to allow such viewing?…that considering the large amount of money the city has already donated to the Evansville Museum for its past and most recent expansions, the cost of the security should be the responsibility of the Museum and not the taxpayers of this city?

IS IT TRUE five former employees of Bernie Madoff are on trial in New York City for assisting their jailed boss in a ponzi scheme that allegedly stole $68 Billion from investors including Kevin Bacon and a rogue’s gallery of congressmen?…while lying to get money to do the things one wants ends in prosecution for a well dressed con man like Madoff and all of his accomplices, in the halls of government from cities, to the state, right up to the White House lying carries no penalty whatsoever?…whether a local politician and his cronies lie (or pay a consultant to lie for them) to get some temple to sport built, or a state level political appointee hands out a massive incentive package to a company that never creates the jobs contractually committed to, or if a President of the United States lies to further an agenda creating waste and harm in the process, IN GOVERNMENT THERE IS NO ACCOUNTABILITY?…it makes one wonder how a population can be responsible and honest when the elected leaders are not?

IS IT TRUE for President Bill Clinton said yesterday that President Obama should change the healthcare law so that people can keep their existing health insurance plans?…Clinton said Obama should honor his promise that people could keep their plans under ObamaCare if they liked them?… Clinton said in an interview at OZY.com, “I personally believe, even if it takes a change in the law, that the president should honor the commitment the federal government made to those people and let them keep what they’ve got?” …President Clinton is the latest powerful Democrat to recognize the error in President Obama’s ways and the danger that digging one’s heels in to protect a lie poses to the Democrat Party going forward?

IS IT TRUE President Barack Obama’s healthcare reform has reached only about 3 percent of its enrollment target for 2014 in 12 U.S. states where new online health insurance marketplaces are mostly working smoothly, a report released on Monday said?…states with functioning exchanges have signed up 49,100 people compared with the 1.4 million people expected to be enrolled for 2014, according to the report by healthcare research and consultancy firm Avalere Health?…it is expected that the enrollment data for the other 38 states will be released by the Obama Administration later this week?…the technology guru brought in by the White House to add a touch of private sector competence badly needed by the healthcare.gov website that’s failures have made the Department of Health and Human Services look dumber than a 5th Grader has said in every way possible without calling the President a liar that the website will not be substantially functional by November 30th as the Obama Administration promised on October 25th?…the punch list of problems is longer now than when the smart guys came in?…that is a positive start because the President’s people were as clueless as a bunch of 100 year olds when it came to assessing the problems with the website?

Winter Driving Preparedness

0

ISPGovernor Pence has proclaimed November 17-23, 2013 as Winter Weather Preparedness Week in Indiana.

To help Hoosiers prepare for this the Indiana State Police offers the following tips.

Be prepared:
 Before traveling, check the forecast and let someone know your travel route
 Keep your gas tank at least half-full
 Carry a winter driving kit that should include blankets, flashlight, extra batteries, a brightly colored cloth, sand (or kitty litter), shovel, candle, matches, non-perishable high calorie food, first aid kit, and jumper cables
 Have a cell phone and charger cord
 Slow down on snow/ice covered roads
 Allow extra time to arrive at your destination
 Clear all vehicle windows of ice and snow. Remove snow from hood, roof and lights.
 Use extra caution when driving across bridges, underpasses, shaded areas and intersections where ice is slow to melt
 Avoid abrupt stops and starts. Slow down gradually.

Should you become stranded:
 Don’t leave your car. It’s the best protection you have.
 Tie a brightly colored cloth to your antenna
 Roll down your window a small amount to allow fresh air in your vehicle
 Keep exhaust pipe free of blockage to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning
 Don’t panic. An idling car uses approximately one gallon of gas per hour

Pinnacle only deals in products that they know and use themselves. This ensures a high level of subject matter expertise that Pinnacle can bring to bear for their clients. Brian’s goal is to help people and organizations solve their problems and save money while adapting to rapid advancements in technology. Pinnacle offers many different solutions for their clients and provides phased implementation plans that allow clients to evolve their systems and stay competitive in a budget conscious fashion while also providing a longer term technology roadmap.

Greening the Statehouse forum set for Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS – The Hoosier Environmental Council’s sixth annual Greening the Statehouse Forum is set for 9 a.m. Saturday at IUPUI.

John Tuma, known for his fight for more sustainable agriculture in the Midwest, will be guest speaker at the event. Tuma, an attorney, also served as a legislator in his home state of Minnesota where he made a large impact on the environmental state of Minnesota.

“Agriculture is an integral part of Indiana – instrumental to our economy, employment, and quality of life. It’s critical, however, that Indiana’s local and state elected officials continue to have the ability to balance the need to sustain agriculture with the need to safeguard Indiana’s environment and quality of life,” said Jesse Kharbanda, executive director of the Hoosier Environmental Council.  “Our forum will focus on ensuring this balance is preserved — and the health and well-being of Hoosiers remains protected.”

During the 2013 legislative session, the Hoosier Environmental Council and its partners successfully protected Indiana’s natural resource and rural quality by helping defeat several proposed policy measures that – had they been implemented – would have given special privileges to the corporate livestock industry.

This year’s Greening the Statehouse forum will address topics such as how proposed public policies would significantly weaken protections from polluting industrial livestock operations, as well as clean energy and mass transit. A partnership with IndyTalks will offer participants an opportunity to learn how to safeguard a cleaner and healthier environment for future generations, and a partnership with the Student Sustainability Coalition will allow college students to convene and decide the priorities and goals that are important for the upcoming legislation session.

Registration for Greening the Statehouse is $20 for general admission and $10 for students. To register, visit www.hecweb.org/annualforum.
