IS IT TRUE May 6, 2015

119

IS IT TRUE  this election shall keep the Democrat party deeply divided for a long time?  …political insiders predict that the  present Democratic Party Chairman lacks the desire, leadership skills or direction to bring the Democrats back together?

IS IT TRUE the 4th Ward voters showed up but failed to garner the necessary vote to help Hart and O’Daniel win?

IS IT TRUE that political new comer Jim Brinkmeyer’s hard work paid off in his resounding victory over Al Lindsey?  …we congratulate both gentleman for a hard fought campaign?

IS IT TRUE we would like to congratulate Steve Davis for running a very competitive race against Missy Mosby?  …Missy  Mosby edged out him in a hard fought victory by a 482-467 vote count? …Mrs. Mosby earned a well deserved victory in her biggest political victory of her career?

IS IT TRUE that the absentee voters showed up and were very kind to Weaver, Mosby, Windhorst and Burton?

IS IT TRUE  Councilman Jonathan Weaver ran a heck of a race with a lot of help from his friends? …we congratulate Mr. Weaver for a hard fought victory?

IS IT TRUE that 1st Ward Councilman Dan McGinn’s win yesterday didn’t surprise anyone because he enjoys a good reputation in the community?

IS IT TRUE we expected political new comer Alex Burton to win but not by such a large  margin?

IS IT TRUE Mosby, Weaver, Brinkmeyer and Windhorst campaigned as an unofficial slate.?  …all enjoyed the quiet support of the union leaders, the Mayor, GOP Chairman Wayne Parke and his Republican buddies?  ..this slate conducted a masterful campaign?

IS IT TRUE we weren’t surprised  to see Winnecke’s Chief Of Staff, Steve Schaefer and City Controller Russ Lloyd Jr stopped by the FOP lodge to offer congratulations to local Democratic winners?

IS IT TRUE Democrat Mayoral candidate Gail Riecken must move  quickly in order to heal an extremely divisive Democrat party?  …we have our doubts this will happen because the union bosses and some of yesterday winners won’t allow this to happen?  …we predict Mrs. Riecken is geared up to take on Mayor Winnecke in an issue based campaign regardless of problems in the Democratic party?  …it’s important that Mrs. Riecken keep bringing up the financial woes facing this city because this issue alone will catch the attention of the masses if properly crafted?

IS IT TRUE we hope that the  attorney for the Vanderburgh County Election Board will look at all the provisional ballots before certifying the election results?  …they should also wait and see if they receive any military ballots in the next couple of days?

IS IT TRUE it looks like Mayor Winnecke may be on his way to build a political coalition that shall give him control of City Council?

IS IT TRUE we hear that some politically motivated Republicans are pushing to find an independent candidate to run  against Connie Robinson in the General election?  …Connie Robinson garnered many more votes than any other Ward candidates?

IS IT TRUE we hear talk of people urging O’Daniel and Davis to ask for a vote recount?  …we don’t expect that to happen?

IS IT TRUE much credit for yesterday election results should go to the Republicans who voted in the Democratic primary?

Pence: “Our administration will continue to work tirelessly to confront the crisis in Scott County in a compassionate and focused way until public health and public safety are restored”

Indianapolis – Today, Governor Mike Pence signed Senate Enrolled Act 461, regarding the use of syringe or needle exchange programs in the case of public health emergencies like the recent HIV outbreak in Scott County. The law takes effect immediately.

“Having been informed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Indiana State Department of Health of the presence of an HIV epidemic in Scott County, our administration took decisive action on March 26 declaring a public health emergency and responded with a broad range of resources including a limited syringe exchange program to confront this crisis.

“Since that time, our public health community has worked tirelessly to confront this outbreak, and our administration worked with members of the Indiana General Assembly to construct a legal framework under which Scott County and other counties could respond to public health emergencies in the future, and I am pleased to sign SEA 461 into law today.

“I am grateful for the efforts of legislators in both political parties for moving this important public health measure forward in a timely way. This measure will save lives and give public health officials the broadest range of options to confront this and other public health emergencies in the future.

“Hoosiers may be assured that our administration will continue to work tirelessly to confront the crisis in Scott County in a compassionate and focused way until public health and public safety are restored.”
