Children’s Center for Dance Education Hosts Open Auditions for The Children’s Nutcracker

  Dance nonprofit, Children’s Center for Dance Education will host free open auditions for the 2015 touring ballet of The Children’s Nutcracker. Auditions will be this weekend, Saturday, September 12th from 10:30am to 3:00pm at the studio, located at 5900 Vogel Rd. Ste. A, Evansville, IN 47715. There is absolutely no cost to audition for a role. Auditions are broken up by age and skill level (see below).

12:30-1:00pm 4&5 Beginners
1:00-1:30pm 6,7,&8 Beginners
1:30-2:15pm 8,9,&10 Intermediate
2:15-3:00pm 10+ Advanced

 

The newly selected 2015-2016 Touring Company will have their auditions from 10:30am-12:00pm. To see the list of Company and Pre-Company Dancers, visit childdance.org.

The below images are of subjects who are suspected of committing multiple thefts from night deposit boxes from local apartment communities during the last few weeks. The suspects are using a “fishing” device on a string to steal items from the night deposit boxes.

If anyone has knowledge about these crimes or the individuals’ identities, please call the Evansville Police Department at 436-7959, Crime Free Multi-housing Unit at 435-6116 or the WeTip line at 1-800-78-CRIME.

 Bryant P. Burkett, DDS, recently joined Patrick A. Tromley, DDS, at Evansville Main Street Family Dental.

Dr. Burkett is a recent graduate of Indiana University School of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in General Health Sciences from Purdue University.

School Board Approves 2015-17 Collective Bargaining Agreement

The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation Board of School Trustees tonight (9-8-15) approved the 2015-16 and 2016-17 Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Evansville Teachers Association. This follows the ratification by ETA members last week.

The two-year agreement includes performance-based increases that are the equivalent to at least a 2% increase in each of the next two years. Teachers receive an increase in compensation based upon being rated effective or highly effective in their evaluations, which includes student outcomes on ISTEP.

“We are so pleased to have reached this agreement by collaboratively working with the ETA leadership in less than five hours of negotiations,” said Supt. David Smith. “While other school corporations are only providing raises as stipends, the EVSC has determined a way for the increase to be added to the base pay, which benefits teachers’ overall earnings.”

Beginning in 2016-17 school year, the new base salary for an entry-level teacher will be $36,000 and the salary cap will be raised to $70,000, which should be obtainable over the next several contracts, provided state funding continues to increase.

ETA President Michael Rust said he is pleased that an agreement has been reached and ratified.  Rust thanked the members of ETA’s bargaining team for their diligent work and dedication.

IS IT TRUE that we wonder, if any current member of our City Council went to a new car Dealership  and signed a legal contract to purchase a MERCEDES-BENZ  and they told our City Council member that they had to accept a Volkswagen for the same price,  would they agree to the transaction?  … their answer should be “HELL NO”?

IS IT TRUE City Councilwoman Connie Robinson, 4th Ward Democrat’s comments about the new Downtown Hotel were spot on when she commented that  “We’re Getting Less For More”?   …the Mayor deleted  from the HOTEL,  plans for an indoor swimming pool, a rooftop restaurant, and reduced the proposed 10 story Hotel and Apartment Complex to a 5 story Hotel, while the construction price remained the same?

IS IT TRUE  City Council unanimously approved $20 millions of the taxpayers dollars for a First Class 10 Story Hotel, which also included a shared parking garage with the IU Medical School, pedestrian bridges, an expensive apartment complex, indoor swimming pool and first class Convention and Banquet rooms?

IS IT TRUE we totally agree with Mayoral Candidate Gail Riecken’s comments that the redesigned project is a “Lower Quality Motel”?  …we don’t agree with  Gail Riecken statement that the redesigned Hotel will cause “BLIGHT” to that area?  …we have to believe that Mayoral candidate Gail Riecken made a non-thinking remark when she said; “that the new Hotel will cause blight to the area”?  …we also feel its might be wise for Mrs. Riecken to clarify her comments about the soon to be built Downtown Hotel causing blight to the downtown area?  …a sign of a good leader is when they admit that they made a mistake?

IS IT TRUE every taxpayer of this community should be personally offended that Mayor Winnecke pulled a “BAIT AND SWITCH” deal that has given them a “Lower Quality Hotel” for their $20 million dollars? …we are also offended that every present member of City Council sat silently and approved this unacceptable “BAIT AND SWITCH” Hotel deal without vigorously challenging what was a “BAD PUBLIC POLICY” decision for the taxpayers of this community?

IS IT TRUE it is shameful that our elected officials didn’t use the same criteria for the new Downtown Hotel Deal, that they would have used when purchasing a car from a local Auto Dealership?
