Evansville Police are investigating two gas station robberies that happened early Wednesday morning. Both happened at gas stations on 1st Ave and were about 2 hours apart.
At 3:00am, a white male entered the store wearing a ski mask. He told the clerk he had a gun, but did not show one. He demanded money and left with an unknown amount of cash from the register.
At 5:00am, a white male entered the Circle S at 5230 N 1st Ave. He was also wearing a ski mask. He handed the clerk a note demanding money, but left without getting any after the clerk told him they could not open the register.
The suspect description in both cases and the close proximity of the two incidents leads investigators to believe that the cases are connected. At this time, there is no video available to police.
Anyone with information about these robberies is asked to call EPD at 812-436-7979 or WeTip at 1-800-78-CRIME.

Tyrus Sciarra named to MVC Scholar-Athlete Team

0

Sixteen student-athletes have earned a spot on the 2015 Missouri Valley Conference men’s soccer scholar-athlete first team and honorable mention team, announced by the league office today. The 12-member first team is highlighted by three-time first team honoree Jacob Wieser of SIUE, as well as an additional two student-athlete’s with a GPA of 3.90 or higher, including Bradley’s Clark Emerson and Andrew Kovacevic.

Earning a nod as an Honorable Mention from the University of Evansville was Tyrus Sciarra.  The marketing major at UE boasts a GPA of 3.91.  He played in all 16 games this season and accumulated three points on a goal and an assist.  He took 10 shots with four being on goal.

Of the 16 players named to this year’s team, nine recently earned CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District honors (Bartlett, Emerson, James Grunert, Kovacevic, Ben LeMay, Rob Oslica, Wieser, Phil Woods and James Wypych). The Valley’s scholar-athlete team is voted on by the league’s soccer sports information directors.

The criteria for the all-MVC honor parallels the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) standards for Academic All-America voting. Nominees must be starters or important reserves with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.00 scale). Also, students must have participated in at least 75 percent of the regular-season matches or played in the league tournament. Student-athletes must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution (true freshmen and redshirt freshmen are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at their institution.

IS IT TRUE November 26, 2015

6

IS IT TRUE that County Council member Tom Shelter Jr at yesterday Council meeting claimed that County Recorder Z Tuley had mismanaged public funds by not bidding out contract work and spending money on office furniture? …he charge that this practice caused Z Tuley a cash flow issue?  …we wonder if Ms. Tuley is the only City or County Department head that bought office furniture or awarded a contract without a competitive bid?

IS IT TRUE that we wonder if County Council member Tom Shelter Jr moving business has done any work for the City or County without submitting a competitive bid?

IS IT TRUE Its time that County Council member Tom Shelter Jr stop being disrespectful and a political bully towards the highly respected County Recorder Z Tuley?

IS IT TRUE we are amazed that County Council President Angela Koehler-Lindsey made Z Tuley give her a copy of her speech so she and fellow County Council members could vet it during a quick break?  …Ms. Koehler-Lindsey demand that they be allowed to vet Z Tuley speech is not only a direct violation of Z Tuley First Amendment Constitutional Rights and censorship at its worst?  …that Koehler-Lindsey should be ashamed of herself?

IS IT TRUE its obvious that the City County Observer should spend more time in monitoring the activities of the Vanderburgh County Council?

IS IT TRUE do you have any IIT questions you would like to ask today?

IS IT TRUE please take time and vote in our new “Readers Poll”?  …todays question is; “Do you feel that County Councilman Tom Shelter, Jr should stop being disrespectful towards County Recorder Z Tuley”?

IS IT TRUE we wish you and yours a “HAPPY THANKSGIVING”?
