IS IT TRUE that a long time supporter of EPD has continued to encouraged us to post links concerning the Milan verses EPD Chief Billy Bolin Federal lawsuit for the 3 months?  …we finally gave into his requests?  …we encourage you to review the attached questions and links provided to us by him?

IS IT TRUE that on June 21, 2012, a SWAT team from the Evansville Police Department executed a raid of Louise Milan’s home? …the raid occurred as police were investigating threats made on an Internet posting website? …questions have been raised as to why the department felt it necessary to use a military style raid, multiple flash bangs, and a ram to enter the home?

IS IT TRUE the only connection to the address was the IP address of the unsecured router? …EPD detectives drove by the home prior to the raid and determined that the router was unsecured and accessible from the street? …surveillance of the home observed only one young, teenage female leave and return to the residence?

IS IT TRUE prior to the raid, a detective was asked to associate Louise Milan’s address with suspects? …in response, the detective determined that Marc Milan had been known to associate with Derrick Murray, who was suspected of making the threats? …the only association of Marc Milan to the address of Louise Milan was that he shared the same last name as Anthony Milan Jr. who was listed as once living at the address? …Marc Milan has never been identified as living at Louise Milan’s address? …the only known association of Derrick Murray to the address was that he was identified on the porch of the house down the street from Ms. Milan’s address?

IS IT TRUE after the Swat Team raid was executed, an effort was made to associate Anthony Milan  Jr. as living at Louise Milan’s home? …an entry was made to EPD’s RMS system showing Anthony living at Ms. Milan’s address? …that RMS entry was made by Chief Bolin?

IS IT TRUE here’s a  LINK  of a copy of Evansville Police Chief  apology letter of July 2, 2012 to Edna Milan regarding the flash bang grenade incident at Ms. Milan’s home on June 21, 2012.   ,,,the apology letter from Police Chief Billy Bolin sent to Edna Milan  makes reference to the address of Anthony Milan Jr.?

IS IT TRUE that the other link provided to us by is the U S Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit-Planintiff-Appellee, Louise Milan’s  36 page “Response Brief” for the Milan EPD Swat Team raid case that we find  extremely interesting.   …that the footnote located on bottom of page 5 states that EPD Chief Billy Bolin on June 28, 2012 (1 week after the raid on Milan’s home) changed the address of Anthony Milan Jr from the EPD system.

Eagles’ season ends with 2-0 loss

University of Southern Indiana Women’s Soccer concluded the 2015 campaign with a 2-0 loss to 18th-ranked Bellarmine University Wednesday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky. USI puts the 2015 season in the books with a 5-10-2 overall mark, 4-10-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while Bellarmine heads into the post-season with a 15-1-2 overall mark, 12-1-2 GLVC.

The Screaming Eagles battled the nationally-ranked Knights to a scoreless tie through most of the first half until Bellarmine posted its first tally with 24 seconds left before halftime. The Knights took the 1-0 lead in to the intermission after outshooting the Eagles, 7-1.

In the second half, Bellarmine increased the margin to 2-0 with a goal at 70-38.The 2-0 margin would be the eventual final score and end USI’s fall.

Individually for USI in 2015, freshman forward Ryley Hancock was the Eagles’ season-leader in scoring with nine points on two goals and a team-high five assists. Hancock was followed by the eight-point season-performances of senior forward Madi Vellky, who had three goals and two assists, and junior defender Kelsey Smith, who had a team four goals.

Dr. Bucshon Opposes Budget Agreement

 On Wednesday, Eighth District Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. voted against the Budget Agreement negotiated by Congressional leaders and President Obama. Following his vote, Bucshon released the following statement explaining the agreement failed to follow regular order and was presented to members with little notice:

 

“I was hopeful we could come to an agreement that would tackle the challenges we face with our nation’s debt,” said Bucshon.“Unfortunately, this deal was negotiated by Congressional leadership and the White House with little input from members, was not adequately vetted through the regular legislative process, and was presented to the House with little notice. That’s not regular order and that’s not the way the process should work.  

 

“In addition, discretionary spending was increased without substantial enough mandatory spending reforms to not only offset the increase, but put us on a budget trajectory to pay off our $18 trillion national debt. This deal also failed to provide certainty for Indiana’s agriculture industry. The farm bill was reopened and the crop insurance program was changed. Even though the promise of fixing this provision at a later date was made, I could not trust that it would happen. The risk to Indiana’s farmers is too high.

 

“Finally, I am pleased additional resources are being invested in our military; however, this goal could have been accomplished through the regular legislative order. Hoosiers want more from Washington. This agreement simply does not reflect the priorities of the people I represent.”

 

H.R. 1314, the Bipartisan Budget Act, is a two-year budget deal that suspends the federal debt limit until March 2017 and breaks the budget caps for defense and non-defense programs passed in 2011. It adds $1.5 trillion to the current $18.1 trillion national debt and increases discretionary spending by $80 billion over two years. 

 

H.R. 1314 passed the House by a vote of 266 to 167 with 79 Republicans voted in favor and 167 Republicans voting against.

Indiana State Police Arrest Two Men in Connection to Asphalt Scam

 Indiana State Police arrested two men this morning in connection with the alleged asphalt scam that occurred earlier this year in Posey County.

On August 14, Indiana State Police initiated a criminal investigation after Leslie Oaks, 39, an employee of Oaks Construction, approached an 87-year-old woman at her New Harmony residence and told her that the crew had an extra load of asphalt from a recent job in Mt. Vernon and they could offer her a good price for her driveway. She was allegedly quoted a price between $1,000 and $2,000. She agreed and the crew started immediately. Near the completion of the job, Odie Herrin, 36, another Oaks Construction employee, entered her residence and demanded $6,000 for the job. She wrote the check and contacted her son after the crew left. Her son immediately contacted Indiana State Police and the crew was stopped on I-64 near the state police post. One of the employees was identified as Michael Coope, 34, of Clinton. He was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Crawford County, IL, for Failure to Appear for Home Improvement Fraud. The rest of the crew were released, but detectives continued their investigation.  The 87-year-old woman was able to cancel her check before it was cashed.

After reviewing the criminal investigation the Posey County Prosecutor’s Office issued arrest warrants for Leslie Joseph Oaks, 39, of Clinton, IN, and Odie Curtis Herrin, 36, of West Terre Haute, IN. Oaks was arrested at approximately 11:30 at the KOA Campground in Gibson County and Herrin was arrested at a hotel across from the Indiana State Police Post. Both men are currently being held on bond in the Posey County Jail.

UE Women’s Soccer Playing for #2 Seed on Thursday vs. Missouri State

Major postseason scenarios are on the line as the University of Evansville women’s soccer team (4-10-2, 2-2-1 MVC) hosts Missouri State (9-5-1, 3-2 MVC) on Thursday, Oct. 29. The match will be held at Arad McCutchan Stadium and begin at 6:00 p.m.

 

PLAYOFF SEEDING SCENARIOS

With a win on Thursday, Evansville would earn the #2 seed and a bye entering the MVC Tournament (Nov. 6-8). There are also scenarios with a tie or a defeat that UE could become either the third, fourth or fifth seed depending on the Illinois State – Indiana State and UNI-Loyola outcomes (Thursday at 6 pm).

USI Foundation holding 24-hour “Day of Giving” social media blitz today

On Wednesday, October 28, the University of Southern Indiana Foundation is holding its second annual USI Day of Giving, a 24-hour online fundraising event where USI students, alumni, faculty/staff, retirees and friends see just what can be accomplished for the University in one day.

Last year USI was able to provide 21 scholarships to USI students from the donations received on the one-day event. USI, which was Indiana State University Evansville (ISUE) at the time, opened in Centennial School in 1965 with an enrollment of 412 students. This year’s Day of Giving goal is to reach at least 412 participants.

Gifts to the Day of Giving can be designated to any of the University’s four colleges as well as Athletics and Student Life. The event is driven through social media, however, students, faculty and staff on campus will be given the opportunity to compete in a fishbowl challenge between the six designations. Participants can find the fishbowls located outside the University Center between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

Eagles earn sixth-straight win with sweep of Trojans

Five different players had at least five kills for the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team as the Screaming Eagles recorded their sixth straight victory with a 25-22, 26-24, 25-12 Midwest Region win over Trevecca Nazarene University Tuesday evening at the Physical Activities Center.

 

USI (17-7) used a 6-1 run to build a commanding 22-16 lead late in the opening frame; then held off a late Trevecca Nazarene rally to earn the three-point win and one-set lead in the match. Sophomore middle hitter Te’Ayla Whitfield(Fort Wayne, Indiana) had three kills and a .429 attacking percentage in the opening stanza, while senior middle blockerAbbey Winter (Germantown, Illinois) and sophomore outside hitter Shelbi Morris (Brazil, Indiana) each had four kills in the first frame.

 

Despite jumping out to a 10-6 lead early in the second set, the Eagles had to play catch-up late as they found themselves facing a 21-19 deficit. Freshman outside hitter Mary Kate Byrnes (Chicago, Illinois), however, came off the bench to record a kill; then Morris found an opening for another kill as the Eagles tied the set at 21-21.

 

A kill from senior right side hitter Erica Oberbroeckling (Westfield, Indiana) moments later put the Eagles up, 25-24; while Byrnes ended the set with her second kill in as many attacks, giving USI the two-point win and two-set advantage heading into intermission.

 

Oberbroeckling had six of her match-high tying 12 kills in the second set, while freshman setter Erika Peoples(Bloomington, Illinois) had 15 of her match-high 34 assists.

 

The Eagles led 10-7 in the third set before going on an 11-0 run that featured six attacking errors by the Trojans. Oberbroeckling and Byrnes each had a pair of kills and a block in the run that ended with USI holding a comfortable 21-7 cushion. USI held the Trojans (12-10) to a negative .158 attacking clip in the final frame and a .098 clip for the match.

 

In addition to Oberbroeckling, the Eagles got nine kills and 13 digs from Morris as well as eight kills and two blocks from Winter. Whitfield finished with five kills, a .500 attacking percentage, and three blocks, while Byrnes tallied five kills and a .444 attacking percentage in a little more than a set of work.

 

Sophomore libero Shannon Farrell (Munster, Indiana) had a match-high 20 digs to lead the Eagles’ back row; while Peoples had a double-double as she added 10 digs to her 34 assists.

 

USI returns to action Friday at 7 p.m. when it travels to Springfield, Missouri, to take on Drury University in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match. The Eagles conclude their 2015 regular-season road slate with a trip to Rolla, Missouri, to take on Missouri University of Science & Technology the following day at 3 p.m.

 

Following this weekend’s road trip, the Eagles play their final five matches of the regular season at the PAC.

 

 

Women’s golf makes history at Braun Intercollegiate

Aces take team win and Katterhenry wins individual

  An historic day took place at Oak Meadow Country Club as the University of Evansville women’s golf team took top team honors and junior Kayla Katterhenry was medalist in the home tournament.

 

Due to the weather in the Evansville area, the second round was halted.  The teams began their second round in the morning, but the round was called a short time later due to the conditions.

 

For the women, it marked the second victory in program history.  The last came in 2008 as the ladies took top honors in the North/South Intercollegiate.  That day, Katie Schoener was the leader for UE, finishing second out of 68 participants.

 

Today, it was junior Katterhenry who led the way, picking up her third win of the season and the sixth of her career.  Katterhenry paced the individuals with the lowest round of the day on Monday, firing off an even 72.  Her score put her ahead of Lipscomb’s Miriam Parker, who posted a 73.  Marissa Uradomo of Indiana State finished third with a 74.

Her score also helped UE earn the team win while Butler took second with a 322 and Indiana State was next with a 323.  Northern Kentucky and Lipscomb were tied for 4th with a 325.

Giulia Mallmann and Maria Pickens finished the event in a tie for 10th place with scores of 81.  Next for UE was Maggie Camp with an 84 while Madison Chaney carded a 95 in the first round.  Camp’s score put her in a tie for 35th place overall.

Playing as an individual, Rachel Marchi had a stellar round, notching an 84 to tie for 35th.  Carly Waggoner also played and finished with a 93.
