THE I-69 TOUR

**TICKETS ON SALE FRIDAY, JANUARY 15 AT 10 AM**

Evansville, IN (January 11, 2016) – Following a very successful New Year’s Eve show at the Murat Theatre at Old National Centre, Colts Punter and funny man Pat McAfee is barnstorming cities across Indiana on the I-69 Tour!

The show won’t be knock-knock jokes or corny jokes or one liners. “I’m not a joke teller. I’m not smart enough to tell those knock-knock jokes and those other jokes and stuff like that,” he said. “All my material comes from life experiences. My journey to the NFL was a ridiculous one. And then my travels since I’ve been in the NFL are pretty ridiculous. So, you put those together and you’ve got a recipe for a long night of fun story telling.”

“Pat McAfee is as good on stage as he is on a football field. That’s good news and bad news,” said Tom Griswold with the nationally-syndicated “Bob & Tom Show,” where McAfee is a regular. “The good news is he’s a great story teller. The bad news is all of his stories are true.

He’s an all-pro comedian.”

IS IT TRUE January 11, 2016

11

IS IT TRUE that  the “Blight Fighter” George Lumley highly recommends you to go to the movies and see the “BIG SHORT”?

IS IT TRUE Evansville City Council will be voting on a resolution authorizing the legal action to be withdrawn from the pending legal Appeal Of the City of Evansville Residency Ordinance? …we hear Council leadership has cut a back room political deal so they can suspend the rules to pass this ordinance on first reading? …we hope that City Council will allow public input before they vote on this resolution?

IS IT TRUE that ERC President is tamping down expectations about Evansville’s ability to retain the Evansville Icemen? …neither Ron Geary nor the Mayor’s office are expressing optimism on reaching an agreement, and both sides are negotiating with alternatives to their current arrangement?

IS IT TRUE that the someone needs to tell the Mayor that NHL and the AHL would not be attracted to the Evansville market because it is not large enough?

IS IT TRUE if the IceMen decides to leave the only other professional hockey league left is the ECHL and we doubt it would install a team in Evansville after the IceMen’s negative experience with the Mayor?  …Its also important to point out to the Mayor that Mr. Geary has territorial rights protection in a 500 hundred mile radius and he decides what community he wants to place his EHCL IceMen hockey team in the future?

IS IT TRUE we are hearing that a some individuals are saying that the rules of the Federal Hatch Act may make it necessary for newly installed City Councilwoman Anna Hargis to choose between her job as Director of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters or remaining 3rd Ward City Councilor?   … Mrs. Hargis is the administrator of a non-profit organization which receives less than $2,000 funding through the City?  … this is why some individuals are saying that Director of Big Brothers and Big Sisters Anne Hargis may be ineligible to serve on the body that approves the donation of tax money to that organization?  …we wonder why this issue wasn’t brought up during the campaign and we predict that any challenge for Mrs. Hargis not being able to serve on City Council will go nowhere?

IS IT TRUE that we are also hearing that newly appointed Police Merit Commissioner, Brandon Scott, may not be eligible to serve on the Commission because he doesn’t met the State requirement of being a resident of the City of Evansville for 3 years before being appointed to this position?  ,,, Indiana State Laws pertaining to “Home Rule” suggests that Brandon Scott must have lived in Evansville/Vanderburgh County for 3 years in order that he would be eligible to serve on the Evansville Police Merit Commission?  ,,,,please  look at pages 7 and 8 on the attached PDF post below?

https://www.ipfw.edu/dotAsset/c78253c7-7f49-4d54-b3aa-6c44ccd4d8db.pdf

IS IT TRUE we can’t wait to see the legal opinion of the newly appointed City Council attorney,  Josh Claybourn, on both Mr. Scott’s and Mrs. Hargis’ eligibility to serve?

IS IT TRUE we are hearing that the political appointment of  Newburgh resident and  Evansville City Council Attorney Josh Claybourn, a well known Republican have many rank and file liberal Democrats extremely upset?  …It’s to late for members of Democratic party rank and file to challenge the political deal that Weaver and Mosby cut with Mayor Winnecke concerning this appointment?

IS IT TRUE that Republican attorney Josh Clayborn just replaced 8th District Democratic Chairmen and political icon Anthony Long as the City Attorney for Chandler?  …Mr. Clayborn won this appointment because 3 Republicans voted for him and 2 Democrats voted for Long?  …that Chandler voted along party lines but the City of Evansville who have a 5-4 Democratic majority didn’t when it came to selecting a City Attorney? …we wonder whats wrong with this picture?

IS IT TRUE  we are extremely pleased to learn that Vanderburgh Superior Court’s judges have selected Judge Richard D’Amour to serve as Chief Judge of the courts for 2016?  … as Chief Judge, he is responsible for the administrative operations of the court system in addition to his regular judicial duties?  … Judge D’Amour is responsible for the directly the activities of 7 elected judges and 5magistrates appointed by the judges to assist in presiding over the court’s case loads?  … we are also pleased to learn that Judge D’Amour will announce he will seek reelection to a second six-year term in the November 2016 general election?

Dear CCO Editor

What happened to $3,605,204.00 given to Evansville to invest? Was the investment a bust? Did the investment only generate construction and rehab of 17 homes and 86 demolitions? That is what this report dated January 4, 2016 indicates. https://drgr.hud.gov/public/downloads/reports/National%20NSP%20Production%20Report%20-%20Details

This money was given to us a long time ago, and it seems local government wants to forget it and move forward. I made some investments before the tech bubble burst and would like to forget them, but I also made a few that have paid returns. I keep track of these investments: daughter number one and daughter number two.

Not all investments have a monetary return, but the difference between spending money and investing money is that one expects a return of some type on investments. The City of Evansville received the authorization to invest $3.6 million from the federal government under the National Stimulus Plan (NSP) in 2009. This was part of the bailout where we taxpayers, through our government, bailed out Banks, GM and others by investing in those businesses. I understand many of those billions have been repaid.

Let’s say you and I were given $3.6 million to invest in housing for the economically disadvantaged with the goal of helping people with housing cost; fighting blight by reducing vacancy and stimulating the economy. How would we proceed? I don’t know how things were in 2009 in Evansville but there appears to be plenty of opportunity in rehabbing or flipping houses. Vacant houses needing a little repair seem abundant. Say we buy them at a steal, add value, and then resell just like the private sector does but subsidize each buyer with 20% of the cost. Remember, we don’t want to make money with this investment, just make a difference. If we stick with homes in the $75,000 range we could subsidize each buyer 15% or $11,250. That is a pretty good housing gift. With $3.6 million we could each take $300,000 for administering the program and provide ($3,000,000/$11,250) 266 subsidized homes. Why did the city only come up with 17?

The city invested the money for us in 17 homes! There are some demolitions, but no one can live on a vacant lot. The program documents indicate they had a “little” program income. To date as of 6/30/2015 the program income is reported to be $136,243.51. Important here is the date and the amount. Although this program started in 2009 and everyone wants to forget about it – it is not over. There is not much activity listed on the quarterly reports these days; mowing grass was the only thing I noticed. I have been trying to get information on this program from the DMD for almost 2 years. I started when I read the news report that reported DMD/Brownfields was to dispose of property acquired and land banked. Lately they have a different plan for us to fund an even bigger land banking operation. My detailed questions have been answered with responses such as “it was a verbal agreement”, “we are in compliance”, and “we decided to go in a different direction” to list a few.

Program income would include the sale of each property invested in. Why do the quarterly reports, http://www.evansvillegov.org/index.aspx?page=280, list $3,678,798.86 in expenditures and only $136,243.51 in income? Did Evansville give these homes away? Did Evansville actually spend $216,399.00 ($3,678,798.86/17) to subsidize each of the selected needy families?
