STATE REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT 77 CANDIDATE BRANDON FERGUSON MAKES APPEAL TO VOTERS

Evansville is about family. Evansville needs a hard working family man as its representative, where souls and not clothes matter. Politics shouldn’t be who you know but what you know. Politics shouldn’t be about how much you raise but how much you’re willing to raise others.

I know some of you don’t know me and there are plenty of my competitors signs already around but I hope you all realize it’s not because I’m not liked or unqualified because the truth is quite the opposite. It’s simply because I am just like you, I am an educated, blue collar worker. I have to work 60 hours a week to provide for my family. I think many of you can appreciate that. I believe this is exactly what we need more of, someone who can understand the everyday struggles and needs of the voters. We can’t elect someone who grew up with a silver spoon and expect that person to know, or understand the difficulties of growing up poor, because the less you have the harder it is.

I am the perfect candidate for Evansville district 77 because I didn’t have ties with the Gail Riecken failed Mayoral campaign,  the Winnecke administration, or any of the city council members. My allegiances are only to the voters. I am not in this for the money, the title, or fame. I don’t plan on becoming a career politician but what I do plan on doing is getting something done, something accomplished, and you better believe if needed I will be the first to stand up and shout for what is right. I do plan on being that voice of the working class that has been ignored way to long.

Evansville is all about family. I’ve met my wife here, I am raising my three children in Evansville. I have bought a home here on the south side. My neighbors welcomed us like family, helped us, and even watched our children. I would be lost without family. I hope you will be willing to open up and get to know me and think of me as family because this is truly that time when someone normal, with common sense has stepped up to fight for the little guy. I know we’ve all asked ourselves, are these folks really.. the best we have to lead our country?

I promise I won’t let you down. I need your help, I’m asking for your vote on May, 3rd .

A message from Sheriff Dave Wedding….
Over the past nine years the 911 Gives Hope Guns and Hoses event has raised over $750,000 to benefit children with disabilities in our community. This phenomenal success could not have been achieved without the overwhelming support of our community.
On behalf of the entire Sheriff’s Office, I wish to thank all of the sheriff’s deputies, confinement officers, police officers, emergency medical service members and firefighters who will participate in the upcoming Guns and Hoses charity boxing event.

Each of these men and women will bravely step into the ring in order to benefit area children. Being a public safety professional requires the acceptance of personal risk and sacrifice for the greater good. Whether they are in or out of the ring, this year’s fighters exemplify this ideal by putting others first. I hope you will join me in cheering these heroes on.

Interim Appellate Court Clerk Replaces Smith

Long-serving Indiana appellate court clerk Kevin S. Smith resigned recently, and former deputy clerk Greg Pachmayr is now serving as interim clerk.

The transition came without announcement, and Smith appears to have stepped down in mid-March. Appellate court opinions last bore Smith’s official clerk stamp on March 16. Subsequent opinions are file stamped with a generic, unsigned seal from the clerk of the Indiana Supreme Court, Court of Appeals and Tax Court.

Smith, who served as clerk since 2006, could not be reached for comment Friday. A source familiar with the situation said Smith had resigned to pursue career opportunities in private practice. He was admitted to practice in 1997 and had a career in private practice prior to his tenure as clerk. Pachmayr was admitted to practice in 2009 and prior to serving as deputy clerk had worked in the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency.

Duties of the clerk include maintaining documents filed in appeals, collecting case filing fees that are deposited in the state general fund, and issuing orders and opinions from the appeals courts. Among other duties, the clerk also maintains the roll of attorneys, collects and distributes attorney licensing fees, and in conjunction with the Board of Law Examiners, twice annually administers the oath of attorneys to new lawyers.

Smith’s resignation comes amid numerous pending departures and changes in the leadership of the Division of State Court administration. The courts announced in February the creation of a new office of judicial administration to be led by a chief administrative officer and a fiscal officer. Friday is the deadline for applications for those positions.

Longtime Division of State Court Administrative Executive Director Lilia Judson is acting as interim CAO and plans to retire after facilitating a transition to the new CAO. Likewise, Friday is the final day for David Remondini, interim executive director of the Division of State Court Administration.

ST. MARY’S OFFERS FREE MAMMOGRAMS FOR THOSE WHO QUALIFY

St. Mary’s Breast Center and Mobile Digital Mammography are offering free mammograms for those who qualify, thanks to two grants. St. Mary’s received the “Sharing the Vision: Early Detection of Breast Cancer” grant from the Greater Evansville Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Foundation, and the Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust “Power of  Hope” grant.

Digital pictures can be magnified, adjusted and previewed to see certain areas that regular film cannot. There are fewer retakes and sharper images. Digital mammograms use less radiation, making them safer for patients.  All screenings include mammograms and education about breast health and early detection of breast cancer.

Participants must meet the following criteria to be eligible:

  • You must be between 35 to 40 years old to receive your baseline (or initial) mammogram.
  • Annual mammograms should begin at age 40.
  • It must have been at least one year since your last mammogram.
  • Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance are accepted.
  • Assistance is available for those who qualify.

Executive Director Job Description
This is a part-time staff position.  The Executive Director works in partnership with the Board of Directors, the staff and Marriage Educators. The Executive Director will implement policies approved by the Board of Directors, manages the organization’s programs and operations, and represents the organization in the community.  The Executive Director’s primary goal is to create relationships with Churches, Partners, Donors and Raising funds for the organization through events and donor giving.
PREREQUISITES FOR POSITION
  • A passion for marriage.
  • Connection within the community as evidenced by prior experience and education
WORK REQUIREMENTS
General
  • Report to the Board of Directors.
  • Believe in the Mission and Covenant of Community Marriage Builders.
  • Work with Board of Directors to achieve goals.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all CMB marriage education programs.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the CMB Board of Directors.
Management and Administration
  • Oversee the objectives, goals and planning of CMB
 
Development
  • Seek out churches, organizations, partners and donors for funding, program hosting and sponsorships.
  • Work to lead fundraising efforts, personally cultivating and soliciting donors, and implementing fundraising plans and policies approved by the Board of Directors.
 
Public Relations 
  • Serve as the chief spokesperson for the organization and ensure proper representation to its various constituencies.
  • Assist in the planning and production of the CMB newsletter.
  • Represent the organization by participating in key associations and organizations, serving on committees and advisory groups, and speaking in public settings.
  • Represent CMB in television, newspaper, radio and other media interviews.
  • Oversee scheduling of events
 
Board of Directors
 
  • Work closely with Board President to move CMB forward to goals and strategic future plans
  • Assist in recruiting and training new board members.
  
Fiscal
  • Oversee the flow of funds to ensure steady progress toward goals, achievement of the mission, and to cover operational needs and report to Board of Directors.
  • Maintain an accounting system that meets all federal, state, and local compliance standards.
Personnel
  • Develop an efficient staffing structure.
  • Maintain a climate that attracts, keeps, and motivates top-quality people – both professional and volunteer.
  • Hold staff meetings as needed.
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
Be a person of high moral character and adhere to high ethical standards, both personal and professional.
