IS IT TRUE FEBRUARY 10, 2016

66

IS IT TRUE we would like to see Brad Byrd do the same kind of interview with Jonathon Weaver that he did with Stephanie Brinkerhoff-Riley and John Friend CPA when they faced allegations of improper behavior?…we believe that the allegations made by the Courier and Press Editor Tim Ethridge concerning Weaver behavior are more serious than the ones they faced,? …Missy Mosby stated at Monday night Council meeting that that Mr. Ethridge comments about Mr. Weaver are slanderous? … by Mr. Weaver appearing on the Bryd Byrd show he will be able to defend that the allegations leveled by Courier Editor Tim Ethridge against him are incorrect?

IS IT TRUE our readers are asking about details on the owner of the new hockey team that is to play at the Ford Center?…that we have very little information on Mike Hall? …our readers are curious about the patents he holds and the businesses he has owned? …our readers wonder if he has been vetted properly by the Winnecke administration? …our readers find it is highly unusual that someone with enough personal wealth to own a hockey team is so relatively unknown in the community? …our readers are waiting to hear the details of the agreement, between him and the city and hope they are made public soon?  …some of these questions could had be answered if he would had invited us to his news conference?

IS IT TRUE at the end of the month Special Agents of the Investigations Division of the Office of the Special Inspector General For The Troubled Asset Relief Program located in Washington, D C will also be conducting additional interviews with individuals that had dealings with TARP Funds?  …we won’t be surprised if they decide to ask questions about some financial transactions concerning Evansville Brownfields Corp?

IS IT TRUE that George Lumley attended an open meeting of the Evansville Brownfields Corp. Inc. recently? … EBC, is a not-for-profit corporation operating under IRS Code Section 501c,?   …during this meeting it was mentioned that an audit of the organization was being conducted?  …that Mr. Lumley has informed us that he has information regarding EBC funding sources and disposition of those funds that he would like to provide directly to the “auditors”? …he asked Mr. Coures to provide him with the contact information of the agencies or firms performing any pending audit of the EBC.?  …to date he hasn’t heard from Mr. Coures? …we would highly recommend that Mr. Lumley by-pass DMD Director Kelly Coures and send this information directly to the Special Agents of the Investigations Division of the Office of the Special Inspector General For The Troubled Asset Relief Program located in Washington, D C?

IS IT TRUE we made a correction to  a post we made yesterday concerning John Graybill ?   …the corrected post reads? …Mr. Graybill has apparently been grinding an ax for a number of years with Ron and Gail Riecken and their family over having his boat slip being “reassigned” by the Rieckens and Mr. Graybill decided to take his boat else where? …the reference that Mr. Grayvile was “evicted” from Inland Marina was incorrect?  …Mr. Graybill payments on per both of his contracts were current when he left?  …the City-County Observer is not going to take sides in the Graybill and Riecken dispute because its up to them to work things out?

IS IT TRUE that if the City of Evansville’s books and records are so clean according to the Mayor and his City Controller why does it take one year and two months for the taxpayers to really know the findings of the State Board of Accounts 2014 audit of the City of Evansville?

IS IT TRUE that the candidate for State Representative District 77 Brandon Ferguson has just received a major political endorsement? …that the Plumbers and Steamfitters, Local 136 has just announced that they support Mr. Ferguson State Representative District 77 seat?

IS IT TRUE that we are asking our readers to “like” us on Facebook and encourage friends and family to do so, as well?

Todays “Readers Poll” question is “Do you feel that a one hour speech is worth $625,000?

University of Southern Indiana Athletics announced the hiring of Eric Schoenstein as the women’s soccer head coach. Schoenstein, who was elevated from interim head coach, becomes the fourth head coach in the history of the program, replacing Krissy Engelbrecht, who resigned in November.

“Eric has shown the passion to succeed as an interim head coach over the last three months,” said Jon Mark Hall, USI Director of Athletics. “I have full confidence that our young women will become both better people and champions under Eric’s leadership.”

No stranger to the USI soccer program before joining the Athletic staff in 2014, Schoenstein playing a pivotal role during the Screaming Eagles’ dominance of the Great Lakes Valley Conference with the Eagles winning league titles in 1988, 1989, 1990, and 1991. He was a senior captain in 1991, earned All-Region honors 1988, was a three-time All-GLVC award winner (1988, 1990, 1991), and finished his career on the 1991 Academic All-GLVC squad. The Evansville, Indiana, native is still among the all-time leaders at USI, ranking third in goals scored (34); fifth in assists (22); and third in total points (90).

“The opportunity to be the women’s head coach is a dream come true,” said Schoenstein. “USI is an amazing university and I am looking forward to coaching a great group of student athletes.”

Schoenstein, who was selected as the first full-time women’s soccer assistant coach in February of 2014, has been a mainstay in the Evansville soccer community since the 1980s. He became a part of the USI coaching staff after serving as the Sporting Southern Indiana (formerly Southwest Indiana Soccer Association) Director of Coaching and Player Development since 2002.  He was named the 2013 Indiana Girls Travel Coach of the Year and was the 2008 Indiana Director of Coach Award winner.

During his tenure with Sporting Southern Indiana, Schoenstein enlarged the club from 12 to 32 teams, growing the recruiting base from 200 to 600 players.

Schoenstein compiled a record of 269-80-60 as the head coach of the SWISA Rush U-18 Girls, earning a number one ranking in Indiana, and the SWISA Crush U-17 Girls. He also directed the U-18 squad to four state finals, to the 2012 Midwest Region 2 semifinals, and the 2009 Midwest Regional League championship.

The U-17 team earned a number two ranking in Indiana under Schoenstein’s direction and won the 2013 Indiana State Cup title.

Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann

“It has been a special honor for me to serve alongside a great Governor and share in all that we have accomplished to benefit the people of Indiana. As I look forward to other opportunities for service, I am pleased that Eric Holcomb will become the next Lt. Governor.  Eric has a distinguished record of service to his nation and his State.  He understands State government from his work as Governor Daniels’ Deputy Chief of Staff and is ready to be a valuable partner with Governor Pence leading our State to even greater months and years ahead.”

Senate President Pro Tem David Long

“It’s been a pleasure working with Sue Ellspermann over the past several years. As Lieutenant Governor, she plays a constitutional role in presiding over session in the Indiana Senate, and she has always carried out this duty with great integrity and grace. She is an intelligent, capable and effective public servant and I wish her well in her new endeavors.

“Though I will miss working with Sue, the Governor has made an excellent choice in naming Eric Holcomb as his choice to assume the office of Lieutenant Governor. Eric is a highly competent and effective leader. He is a man of character, and I have a great amount of respect for him and his ability to get things done. I’m confident he will serve Hoosiers well.”

House Speaker Brian Bosma

“Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann is an extraordinary leader and public servant, who has dedicated herself to serving Hoosiers. I personally wish Sue the best in all of her future endeavors and thank her for her commitment to keeping Indiana on the right track.

“Gov. Mike Pence made a sound choice in selecting Eric Holcomb as his nominee for the next lieutenant governor. Eric is a consensus builder and he is well prepared to step into this role as we continue to move Indiana forward.”

Secretary of State Connie Lawson

“Eric Holcomb is a proven leader and consensus builder, making him a natural choice. I have known Eric for years and am confident that he will be a great fit to serve the state as Lieutenant Governor. The Lieutenant Governor has wide-ranging responsibilities and Holcomb is uniquely suited to excel in this position from the moment he takes office.

“I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann for her service and wish her the best in her future endeavors.  Sue has been an enormous asset to the State as Lt. Governor and will undoubtedly continue to be so.”

Former Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman

“Eric Holcomb will bring extensive experience and enthusiasm to the office of Lieutenant Governor. He will be able to make a great contribution toward progress on day one. Governor Pence made a very wise choice.”

Senator Dan Coats

“Governor Pence’s selection of Eric Holcomb to serve as Indiana’s next lieutenant governor is a brilliant choice.

“Eric is a solid conservative, who brings a wealth of experience gained through his decade of service to Governor Daniels, his leadership of the Indiana Republican Party and as my state chief of staff. Eric is known and respected by Hoosiers throughout our state, and he is dedicated to working with Governor Pence to continue the progress Indiana has made over the last decade and to making our state a better place.”

Congresswoman Susan Brooks

“Our state is fortunate to have had a long history of thoughtful and effective advocates who have served as Lieutenant Governor, and Sue Ellspermann has indeed fit that description during her tenure. On behalf of 5th District Hoosiers, I thank her for her tireless and outstanding service to our state and wish her only the best in her future endeavors.

“I have known Eric Holcomb for over a decade now and learned very early that he is dedicated to public service and improving the lives of all Hoosiers. I’ve always admired his love and passion for all corners of Indiana and everything that makes it great. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the state, having served both Governor Daniels and Senator Coats. I commend Governor Pence for this selection, and I look forward to working with Eric in his new role.”

Congressman Larry Bucshon

“Sue Ellspermann is a good friend and tremendous advocate for Southern Indiana. I am confident that Hoosiers will continue to benefit from her leadership and service, and I look forward to working with her in the years to come.

“As the governor said today, Eric Holcomb is uniquely qualified to hit the ground running on day one. Not to mention, his experience serving the constituents of Indiana’s 8th District under Congressman John Hostettler is a bonus. I look forward to working with Eric as he and Governor Pence continue Indiana’s record of success.”

Congressman Luke Messer

“Eric is my friend, and he’ll make a great Lieutenant Governor.  He’s an asset to our state and has demonstrated a tireless commitment to Indiana.  I look forward to working with him to advance Conservative principles that deliver results for our state.”

Congressman Todd Rokita

“Congratulations to Eric Holcomb on this nomination.  I worked with Eric fairly often when I was Secretary of State and served with Governor Daniels.  I look forward to working again with him on issues that impact Hoosiers and wish him well with his new responsibilities.”

Congresswoman Jackie Walorski

“No one has done a better job of serving the state like Lt. Governor Ellspermann and she leaves some big shoes to fill in her departure, but I am confident Eric Holcomb will fill those shoes. His tenure of public service to the State of Indiana has been nothing short of remarkable and I look forward to working with him.”

Congressman Todd Young

“Key to the notion of public service is putting the interest of those you serve ahead of your own. In her time in the state legislature, as Lt. Governor, and especially today, nobody has exemplified that idea better than my friend Sue Ellsepermann. Indiana has benefitted from her model of service and I know Sue will continue to play a leadership role in our state.

“I also want to congratulate Governor Mike Pence on the excellent choice of Eric Holcomb to serve as Lt. Governor. Eric has demonstrated through his service to Governor Mitch Daniels that he truly understands how to make Indiana a state that works. I have every confidence in the Pence/Holcomb team.”
