IS IT TRUE MAY 20, 2016

33

IS IT TRUE we are extremely pleased to see that Dr. Sue Ellsperman has been selected as the next President of Ivy Tech Community College?   …Dr. Ellsperman is extremely qualified to run the 170,000 student post secondary education system?  …its time for Dr. Ellsperman stop the political and public relations games at IVY Tech Indiana?  …we expect her to quickly impermanent classes that will provide IVY TECH students with  the skills that help them become more employable?

IS IT TRUE one of first things she should do is to conduct an audit review of the hiring practices of adjunct instructors at IVY TECH?  …she should conduct a system wide review of drop out,  graduation and transfer rates of IVY TECH students transferring to other institutions of higher learning?  …its obvious that Dr. Ellsperman has her work cut out for her?  …we know that the first female President of IVY TECH shall show the “good ole boys” how to build a quality institution of higher learning?

IS IT TRUE that the Director of the Evansville DMD Kelly Coures is at it again? …he just created another bureaucratic night mare for the taxpayers?  …the name of his new bureaucratic night mare is called NoCoMakers District?  …Coures puppet Board (Evansville Redevelopment Commission) in 2014 purchased 6 vacant lots in a seedy part of town for a whooping $435,000 without any plans to develop them?  …two years later the DMD and ERC have decided to put out a Request For Proposal in order to help them to decide what to do with these vacant properties?  …we wonder if any business investor would spend $435,000 on property located in a seedy part of town without any idea of what they will use it for?  …if you disagree with this decision then you should attend the CORE sponsored “Community Roundtable” discussion of local issues to be held at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, in the meeting room at the North Park Library, 960 Koehler Drive?

IS IT TRUE yesterday Democratic members of the United States House of  Representatives shouted “Shame! Shame” when seven House Republicans switched their votes under pressure from House leaders that defeated a measure to protect gay rights?

IS IT TRUE that a former political candidate Henrietta Jenkins said she and others will make a public announcement this morning of demands aimed at curbing gun violence?  …the announcement will be at 11 a.m. at the Caldwell Life Center at Zion Baptist Church, 1800 S. Governor Street?

IS IT TRUE that Ms. Jenkins said “she will be joined by representatives from Mothers Against Senseless Killings, as well as Brothers Out Saving Souls, a faith-based group” at this announcement?…we have been told that Ms. Jenkins and her supporters “will call for a 30-day cease fire among gangs?  …Ms. Jenkins and her supporters will also demand that a change in the way the Evansville Police Department patrols center city neighborhoods.

IS IT TRUE that it looks like the old political guard of the 4th Ward has just been upstaged by Ms. Jenkins and her followers?  …we also hope that Ms Jenkins and her followers will attend the discussion that is to take place at the North Park Library at 5:45 on Tuesday, May 24th sponsored by CORE!

IS IT TRUE that Cheryl Musgrave spent about $17,000 on the solid defeat she handed to Winnecke-backed primary County Commissioner candidate Alex Schmitt? That we are told by reliable sources that Schmitt spent $60,000+ on his embarrassing loss? That the $40,000+ he reported in April did not include the massive spending on radio, TV, and newspaper ads?

IS IT TRUE some people at City Hall feel that the Jacobsville bar shoot-out that took place on Sunday morning would not have happened if the North Main bike lanes were already in place?  … the people of Jacobsville know that the crime problems will not disappear once they get their bike lanes on North Main?

IS IT TRUE “when the people fear the Government we have Tyranny! When the Government fear the people we have Liberty? ..could this be a good reason for you to attend the CORE sponsored “Community Roundtable” discussion of local issues to be held at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, in the meeting room at the North Park

FOOTNOTE: Today “READERS POLL” question is:  Do you think Henrietta Jenkins and others can work out a deal with gangs to stop gun violence?

The Real Loser in Trump vs. Clinton: Your Money

THE REAL LOSER IN TRUMP VS. CLINTON:  YOUR MONEY

BY DAMON GELLER

People get very emotional about major elections, particularly when it comes to how elections impact their money. Yet the scary reality of our modern political system is, your vote doesn’t matter when it comes to your money. While there are many systemic problems in banking, taxation, trade and monetary policy, none of these systemic problems changes in any meaningfully way by who controls the House, Senate or Presidency. Regardless of changes in party power, politicians don’t hold the REAL power in Washington. No, the sad fact is, modern America is controlled by the banking industry, at the command of the Fed. So the Republicans & Democrats have done nothing in a generation to stop the Fed & banking industry from launching us off the fiscal cliff. And neither will Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. So if you want to protect your savings & retirement from the impending global crisis, you’ll need to do more than vote.

The Real Power in Washington

When it comes to money, there is no democracy or freedom, and there are no nations or citizens. Money is ruled by a plutocracy of financial institutions. They make the laws, they rule the world, and they move or remove anyone that doesn’t promote or support their agenda. Want proof? Just consider how the banks are now assisting the IRS in confiscating bank accounts of INNOCENT U.S. citizens, and even reporting their own account holders to the police! What’s more, in order for the power-brokers to survive and achieve “growth,” they rely on the constant accumulation of new public debt. In a monetary system where every dollar is created from debt, the system becomes a Ponzi scheme and only works until it collapses. This is illustrated throughout history, as every civilization and every paper currency has imploded under huge debt loads and a systemic lack of solvency.

Debt Has Doomed the Nation & the Dollar

In January of 2001, when Bush took office and Republicans controlled the Congress, the national debt stood at $5.7 trillion. Within 8 years, the national debt had ballooned to around $11 trillion – a doubling of U.S. debt in 8 years! Obama came into office in 2009 promising hope and change. But did he really change anything in terms of our debilitating national debt? Absolutely not. At the command of the Federal Reserve, our national debt will skyrocket to over $20 trillion by the time Obama leaves office. In short, the Fed will have increased the national debt 5 times in the span of two presidencies — regardless of which party was in power!

Everyone knows you can’t stockpile $20 trillion in debt without serious consequences. What serious consequences?  The U.S. Dollar lost 33% of its value versus other currencies after 2001!

Debt Has Skyrocketed Gold

As the Federal Reserve drove up debt to record numbers, what happened to gold? The chart below shows the tremendous increase in gold’s value after 2001:

Gold increased over 5 TIMES in value after 2001! And this is including gold’s correction in 2013. So not only did gold increase 5 times after 2001, it’s once again a great value at these levels.

Where Are We Headed?

The U.S. Treasury tells us that the U.S. debt will reach $28 trillion by 2018, regardless of which party wins the presidency in 2016! That’s a staggering 58% increase in U.S. debt from where we are today. So based upon Treasury’s debt projections of $28 trillion, this would project gold at nearly $2500/oz. by 2018!

Why will this happen? Because neither party has shown any serious commitment whatsoever to reduce government spending. Both Trump and Clinton have been cozy with bankers for decades, and both have promised hundreds of billions in new infrastructure projects once they become president. So their election will only result in further destruction of the U.S. dollar until the dollar finally collapses and ceases to be the world’s reserve currency, just as ALL global currencies have failed throughout history.

Do More Than Vote

So does getting a new president end the political games? No. Will our debt problem go away? No. Will we get growth all of a sudden without all the “stimulus” spending and entitlements the Republicans say they want to end? No. Will the growth come even if the gov’t keeps spending and the Fed keeps printing? No. And most importantly, will the Fed be able to raise rates regardless of who wins, and will the debt trajectory change? No and No.

We will be at $28 trillion in debt by 2018 according to the U.S. Treasury. The Fed will keep printing money and rates will stay in the basement for as far as far the eye can see thanks to our massive debt. The writing is on the wall. The election will have zero impact on the current trajectory of the price of gold, so gold is moving much higher. Gold is math and mathematics is a science. Politics are not. So if you want a new party in government, vote. But if you want to protect your savings & retirement, buy gold & silver.

New Program Designed for Historic Preservation

New Program Designed for Historic Preservation

In April the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) introduced its new Historic Renovation Grant Program (HRGP). The program focuses on the external rehabilitation of historic properties in non-entitlement and / or designated Main Street communities for the purposes of furthering the potential of those facilities for economic benefit.

Ownership of the buildings can be in the form of individuals, partnerships, firms, associations, joint ventures, limited liability companies, corporations or non-profit affordable housing organizations. Funding for external repairs of the buildings can range between $10,000 and $100,000. Maximum funding per project is based upon 35% of the eligible cost. For example, if the total project cost is $100,000, the building could be eligible to receive a $35,000 grant.

If there are historic buildings in your community that are in need of renovation, please have the owners contact Carol Hagedorn or Karen Conia at 812-423-2020 for an initial analysis regarding program eligibility and requirements.

THE LAW’S DELAY by Jim Redwine

THE LAW’S DELAY

Hamlet is just the most famous of characters to complain about the pace of matters in court. He is far from the only one upset with the legal system.

Except for those held without probable cause or charges in Guantanamo, most persons awaiting access to justice in America’s criminal cases find the wheels of the legal system move apace. In fact, criminal defendants often seek to retard the system.

On the other hand, in civil cases from small claims to multi-billion dollar suits parties often bemoan the extended time between when a lawsuit is filed and when it is tried, mediated, settled between the parties with the help of the judge or the parties just give up and leave the case hanging in some musty file cabinet for their grandchildren to deal with.

About 95% of all lawsuits commenced in America never get tried. Yet from the time a case is initiated to when it dies from exhaustion can take years. If courts are charged with resolving conflicts, why not get them resolved as close to when they are started as fairness permits?

And since the parties involved in a case know more about their concerns than anyone else, why should they turn their lives over to a judge or jury or appellate court that knows only what the parties bring to the attention of these strangers?

The old adage there was never a good war or a bad peace applies in spades to lawsuits. To avoid “the law’s delay” people should avoid the law, if possible. Of course, some wars would be fought until there are no soldiers left alive if outside peacemakers were not brought in. The same is true in about 5% of lawsuits.

However, for 95% of life, there is light at the beginning of the tunnel. The legal system should be used to help people resolve their own conflicts as quickly, fairly and painlessly as possible.

For a little while I would like to suggest a few ways to do this. Maybe, if you have a case in mind, you might be interested in resolving it without permanent damage to your lives or bank accounts. Next week we can start with a pre-natal, i.e., pre-lawsuit approach, then move on towards the more political convention type resolution.

Governor Pence Announces DWD Pay Back of Funds Used to Eliminate Tax on Hiring

Payoff Completes Cycle to Save Businesses $327 Million

Indianapolis – Governor Mike Pence  announced that the Department of Workforce Development has paid back the state of Indiana for its advance of roughly $250 million, which was used to eliminate the outstanding federal unemployment loan and the FUTA penalty on employers. The FUTA penalty previously stood as the highest in the country ($126 per employee), or 1.8 percent, and the advance was repaid to the state from the collections of existing state unemployment taxes. The funds used to eliminate the outstanding FUTA penalty will be available for the State to use for other priorities.

“Now that a tax on hiring has been eliminated, Hoosier businesses across the state can use the $126 per employee for critical initiatives, such as hiring new employees, growing existing companies, raising wages, buying new equipment, and more,” said Governor Pence. “As we look ahead, Hoosiers can rest assured that we will continue to maintain our state’s finances with the fiscal responsibility and prudent financial planning that makes these opportunities possible.”

In November, the Governor announced that the Department of Workforce Development had completed the full payoff of the unemployment insurance loan, saving Hoosier businesses $327 million in taxes, which equates to $126 per employee in the state. This payoff of roughly $250 million removed the Federal Unemployment Tax Act (FUTA) penalty facing employers in January 2016.
