This cutie’s name is Hiwassee, and he’s named after a set of mountain lakes in North Carolina. He’s a 6-month-old male orange tabby kitten. He is also very affectionate & sweet! Angel Mounds is opening a new art show for their artist members on Friday November 18 with a public reception from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.  There will be dozens of works on display and for sale by Angel Mounds artists and instructor Joanne Massey.
Highlighted will be a collaborative painting called “Spiritual Life Forceâ€, which the members have created together. The painting is a 36†x 36†acrylic that will be unveiled at the opening on November 18. The painting will stay on display through the duration of the show, which will end on Jan. 15, 2017. The painting will be auctioned to benefit Angel Mounds Lab building which is in need of renovations. Bids will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. Jan. 15, 2017. The minimum starting bid is $500.00. This is a beautiful, powerful, and thought provoking painting that has many hours of work and discussions invested by over a dozen artists. It is such a unique piece of art that evokes much emotion for the viewer. This is a spiritual, community heirloom kind of painting that is an investment piece for someone or would be also be perfect in a public space.

Indiana, 15 Other States Reach Data Breach Settlement With Adobe

Indiana will soon receive nearly $54,000 for consumer education and protection programs after it and 15 other states reached a settlement with software company Adobe Systems Inc.
Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller announced the settlement, totaling $1 million for all 16 states, Thursday after a data breach of Adobe servers in 2013. The hack affected approximately 2.9 million people across the country, including 24,049 in Indiana, and compromised personal information such as names, addresses, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, user names and encrypted payment card numbers and expiration dates, Zoeller’s office said.
The 16 states alleged Adobe did not use reasonable security measures to protect its systems or immediately detect an attack. Indiana will receive $53,718.36 in the settlement, which also requires Adobe to implement new policies to prevent similar hacks in the future. The Attorney General’s office said the state’s portion of the settlement will be earmarked for consumer education and protection.
“This case is yet another example of the importance of protecting your personal and financial information,†Zoeller said in a statement. “I continue to be an advocate for Indiana’s credit freeze protections and encourage all Hoosiers to place credit freezes with the major credit bureaus.â€
In addition to Indiana, 15 other states including Arkansas, Connecticut, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Vermont are included in the Adobe settlement.
 INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana University men’s and women’s swimming and diving wrapped up competition at the USA College Challenge presented by arena on Sunday afternoon at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis. Team USA defeated the Big Ten, 349-247, in the two day short-course event.
It was an incredibly successful weekend for Hoosiers past and present, as Indiana swimmers won seven individual events over the course of the two days. Also after the weekend, current IU swimmers currently own the top times in the NCAA this season in seven events.
Lilly King dominated the women’s 100 breaststroke on Sunday, winning with a time of 57.30. King’s mark is the sixth-fastest time in the history of the event and the quickest this year in the NCAA. Her time is also the third-fastest time in school history.
In the men’s 100 breaststroke, IU alum Cody Miller placed second overall with a time of 52.04, while Ian Finnerty was the top Big Ten finisher, taking fourth with a mark of 53.85. Cody Taylor was seventh in a time of 56.18.
IU’s Blake Pieroni continued his impressive weekend, winning his second event of the meet, cruising to victory in the 200 freestyle with a NCAA-best time of 1:33.43 that ranks ninth all-time in Indiana history. Pieroni now owns the top-two times in the event in the country this year. IU postgrad Zane Grothe took second overall with a time of 1:34.83, while Anze Tavcar was fourth overall with a mark of 1:35.55.
In the men’s 50 freestyle, Ali Khalafalla had a great swim, winning with a time of 19.42 – the fastest time in the NCAA this season. Khalafalla’s time is tied for the eighth-best mark in IU history. Khalafalla now owns the top two times in the NCAA in the event this season.
In the men’s 1000 freestyle, Grothe placed first with a time of 8:46.22. The win was Grothe’s second of the competition, as he won the 500 freestyle on Saturday.
Vini Lanza had a tremendous showing in the men’s 200 butterfly, placing second as the top Big Ten swimmer with a time of 1:43.15 – the top time in the NCAA this year by almost a second. His mark is also the the sixth-fastest in IU history.
Gia Dalesandro was outstanding in the women’s 200 butterfly, finishing second as top Big Ten swimmer with a time of 1:55.77. Bailey Pressey was sixth overall with a mark of 1:58.14.
In the women’s 100 backstroke, Kennedy Goss was the top Big Ten finisher, taking fourth overall with a time of 52.89. Teammate Brooklyn Snodgrass was eighth in a time of 54.96. Bob Glover had a great swim in the men’s 100 backstroke, placing fourth with a time of 46.95 that is just 0.4 seconds off his personal-best mark.
In the women’s 200 IM, King was the second Big Ten finisher, taking sixth overall with a time of 1:59.28. On the men’s side, Miller placed fifth in the 200 IM with a time of 1:48.37.
In the women’s 400 freestyle relay, Dalesandro had a great leadoff leg for the Big Ten “B†relay, splitting a personal-best time of 49.63 that ranks her as the 11th-best performer in the 100 free in IU history. On the same relay, Goss anchored with a time of 50.15.
In the men’s 400 freestyle relay, Pieroni led off for the winning Big Ten “A†team, splitting a 42.57 that ranks sixth all-time in IU history. On the same team, Tavcar went second, posting a time of 43.79. On the Big Ten “B†relay that placed second, Khalafalla went second, posting an impressive time of 42.49.
On the USA “B†relay that placed fourth, Grothe swam third and recorded a time of 44.15. Finally, for the Big Ten “C†relay, Lanza led off and touched the wall with a split of 44.04.
Indiana’s 14 participants this weekend in the USA College Challenge are the most of any school. Michigan was second with 11, while both Ohio State and Wisconsin had six.
The Indiana University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will be back in action later this month. Some IU swimmers will be participating in the USA Swimming Winter Nationals from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3, while the majority of the swimmers and the IU divers will be participating in the Miami (OH) Invitational on Dec. 1-3.

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a tree stand accident that left an Evansville man with wrist, ankle, head and facial injuries.
Andrew Schuler (53) of Evansville was deer hunting when he fell approximately sixteen feet from a tree stand. Â A hunting partner heard him call for help and found him lying on the ground.
Schuler was stabilized and flown by Air Evac Life Team to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville for treatment.
Schuler believes he briefly passed out while sitting in the stand causing him to his lose his balance. He was not wearing a safety harness at the time.
The accident was called into Pike County Dispatch at 08:45 am earlier today.
Responding agencies included Spurgeon Volunteer Fire Department, Lockhart Township Fire Department, Pike County EMS, Air Evac Life Team and Indiana Conservation Officers.
Schuler’s injuries are non-life threatening.
University of Southern Indiana Men’s Basketball rallied from a pair of 13-point second half deficits to defeat Ashland University, 74-62, Sunday afternoon in the final day of the GLVC/GLIAC Challenge hosted by the University of Indianapolis. USI completes the first weekend of 2016-17 action with a 2-0 mark, while Ashland starts the year 1-1.
In the first half, Ashland built a nine-point halftime margin with a five-point run midway through the half and a six-point run before halftime to lead 36-27. USI, which shot 36 percent in the opening half (9-25), was led by junior forward Julius Rajala (Finland) with nine points in the half. Senior guard Jeril Taylor (Louisville, Kentucky) and sophomore guard Alex Stein (Evansville, Indiana) followed Rajala in the scoring column with eight points each.
In the second half, Ashland continued to build upon its halftime advantage, expanding the lead to as many as 13 points twice, 42-29 and 44-31, when USI’s offense kicked into high gear. The Eagles went on a 26-5 run to take the lead, 57-49, with 5:45 left and never look back.
After Ashland cut the USI advantage to four points, 59-55, the Eagles connected on eight-of-eight free throws by Taylor and Stein to nail down the 12-point win, 74-62.
USI was led in the second half by the 26-point explosion of Stein. The sophomore guard, who finished the game with a career-best and game-high 36 points, was 9-of-15 from the field and 10-10 from the line during the second half. He also had 17 of the 26 points when the Eagles’ erased the 13-point deficits.
The Eagles, as a team, shot 60 percent (15-25) and 94.4 percent from the line (17-18) during the final 20 minutes, while holding Ashland to 30.8 percent from the field (8-26).
Following Stein in the scoring column for USI is Taylor and Rajala with 18 and 13 points, respectively. Taylor also had a team-high eight rebounds.
USI comes home to Evansville next weekend when it takes part in the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic Friday and Saturday. The Eagles are slated to play Florida Southern College and Kentucky Wesleyan College at 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, respectively.
The Hall of Fame Classic also features second-ranked Lincoln Memorial University, third-ranked Bellarmine University, and fifth-ranked University of Alabama-Huntsville. Additional classic game times are 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. each day.
University of Southern Indiana Men’s Soccer bowed out the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional with a 3-1 loss to sixth-ranked Rockhurst University Sunday afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri. USI, the fourth seed, concluded 2016 season to 13-4-4, while Rockhurst saw its record go to 17-2-2.
Rockhurst struck early to take a 1-0 lead at 6:35 of the first half. The Hawks would control most of the opening 45 minutes and had the lead in shots, 4-1.
In the second half, USI rallied to tie the match, 1-1, when junior forward Pedro Castro (Brazil) scored at 63:24. Castro was assisted on his third goal of the season by freshman midfielder Drew Albert (Eureka, Missouri).
The Hawk responded quickly, scoring the eventual game-winning goal at 67:25 to re-take a 2-1 lead. Rockhurst would add an insurance goal at 80:27 for the 3-1 final.
The Midwest Regional moves to Hays, Kansas, Friday when Rockhurst plays sixth-seeded Drury University in the championship game. Aces to face Alcorn State
The sixth season at the Ford Center officially begins for the University of Evansville men’s basketball team as they take on Alcorn State on Monday evening at 8 p.m.
Fans with tickets to the men’s game are encouraged to arrive early as your ticket is good for admission to the women’s basketball game against Eastern Illinois, which starts at 5 p.m.
Veteran’s Appreciation Night sponsored by Fifth Third Bank will take place at the game. It will be held in conjunction with the Military Warriors Support Foundation. All veterans and active military members and their family can receive $5 tickets to the game by presenting a valid Military ID at the Ford Center Box Office on game day. At halftime, Military Warriors Support Foundation will be presenting a military veteran with a mortgage-free home in a very special presentation for their contributions.
Evansville got off to a great start at Louisville, but the #13 Cardinals roared back with a 20-0 run on their way to a 78-47 win on Friday in the season opener. Jaylon Brown matched his career mark with 19 points as he drained three triples and hit six free throws. David Howard, making the start at center, finished the night with a team-best seven rebounds.
Freshman Dru Smith played very well in his collegiate debut, seeing 22 minutes of action against the Cardinals. Smith notched five points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal. Perhaps nobody truly appreciated the Aces playing their opener on Veteran’s Day more than Solomon Hainna. After serving in the Air Force for five years, Hainna is now focused on his college basketball career and made his debut on the holiday. Hainna was on the floor for 10 minutes and had a rebound.
Monday’s contest will be the sixth home opener at the Ford Center. The Purple Aces have won four of the five opening games at the arena with the only defeat coming against Buffalo in 2012
Alcorn State opened its 2016-17 campaign on Friday evening at Loyola in Chicago, dropping a 69-44 decision. Pacing the Braves was Marquis Vance, who registered 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds in 29 minutes of work. Denzel Dulin recorded 11 points for ASU. Head coach Montez Robinson enters his second season leading Alcorn State. In his first season, he inherited a team that went 6-26 the previous year and led them to a 15-15 mark and was a finalist for both the 2016 Ben Jobe National Coach of the Year and 2016 Joe B. Hall National Coach of the Year awards.
