0

University of Southern Indiana Women’s Basketball announced that 6-foot-4 forward Imani Guy (Columbus, Indiana), a three-star recruit according to ESPN.com, a has signed a national letter of intent to compete for Head Coach Rick Stein’s Screaming Eagles in 2017-18.

Ranked No. 294 in the nation for the class of 2017 by the Blue Star Basketball report, Guy is currently a senior at Columbus North High School. She averaged 9.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.2 blocks shots per game to help the Bulldogs to a 27-2 record and the IHSAA Class 4A state runner-up finish as a junior in 2015-16.

During her junior season, Guy was chosen as an IBCA/Subway Underclass Large School All-State honoree as well as an ICGSA second-team All-State performer. She also was honored as an Indiana Junior All-Star as well as an honorable mention performer by the Associated Press.

During her first three seasons at CNHS, Guy has racked up 498 points, 372 rebounds and 187 blocks for a program that has gone 78-6. She was a key contributor for the Bulldog’s 2015 IHSAA Class 4A championship team that went 28-1 as she finished with four points and seven rebounds in CNHS’s 62-56 victory over Homestead High School in the championship game.

“We are excited to welcome Imani to our team and family,” Stein said. “Imani has been a major factor every year for one of the best high school programs in the state of Indiana. She is a proven winner and knows what it takes to win a championship.

“Imani’s length and athleticism will make an immediate impact on our team on both ends of the court,” Stein continued. “She continues to improve her game every year and it is exciting to have a chance to coach her for the next four years.”

Guy joins 6-foot-4 center Audrey Turner (Fishers, Indiana) and 5-foot-9 guard Emma DeHart (Indianapolis, Indiana) in signing with the Eagles during the early signing period.

USI (3-0) continues a four-game homestand Tuesday at 6 p.m. when it hosts the University of Alabama-Huntsville at the Physical Activities Center. The Eagles host Young Harris College Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and Michigan Tech University Sunday at 2:30 p.m. as part of the USI Thanksgiving Classic.
