Clarification regarding Do Not Call registrationÂ
INDIANAPOLIS –The Office of the Indiana Attorney General would like to clarify a previous news release from earlier today. The total number of telephone number submissions to the Office of the Indiana Attorney General by the Feb.21 deadline was 332,748. After scrubbing that data for duplicate phone numbers, as well as purging invalid numbers, the total count of new phone numbers registered to the Do Not Call list is 224,386. The high volume of telephone number submissions is a product of a new telephone privacy campaign aimed at protecting Hoosiers from phone scams – “Do Not Call/Do Not Answer.†The “Do Not Call/Do Not Answerâ€Â campaign began on Feb. 8 and serves as a blueprint to combat unwanted phone calls from telemarketers as well as criminals trying to scam Hoosiers. The final count of new phone numbers registered (224,386) on the first of four deadlines in 2017 more than doubled the total amount of Hoosiers who registered in 2016, when a total of 94,465 new telephone numbers were registered. Hoosiers who signed up by the Feb. 21 deadline will receive fewer calls from telemarketers beginning April 1. The 224,386 new registrations are the highest total for a single quarter since 2011 when 189,000 Hoosiers registered during the third quarter of the year. Indiana residents who still need to sign up for the Do Not Call list can call 888-834-9969 or visit IndianaConsumer.com. The next Do Not Call list registration deadline is May 16. You may register your information with the office’s Do Not Call list at any time, but the updated lists only become available to telemarketers in three-month increments. Hoosiers who register by the May 16 deadline will begin receiving fewer telemarketing phone calls starting July 1, the next time the list becomes available to telemarketers. |

USI’s Johnson earns GLVC honor
University of Southern Indiana sophomore second baseman Claire Johnson (Pittsboro, Indiana) was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week after helping the Screaming Eagles to a 5-1 record at the Midwest Region Crossover this weekend at Deaconess Sports Park.
Johnson hit .500 with a pair of doubles, a triple, one home run and eight RBIs as the Eagles improved to 7-1 on the year. She is USI’s first GLVC Player of the Week since teammate Haley Hodges (Portage, Indiana) earned the award in April of 2016.
Earning her first-career GLVC Player of the Week award, Johnson had at least one hit and an RBI in all six of USI’s games this week, including a pair of doubles in USI’s 17-2 win over Ferris State University and a triple in the Eagles’ 13-11 win over Northwood University.
Johnson, who had a .889 slugging percentage on the weekend, also had a home run in USI’s lone loss of the week, a 4-3 setback to Saginaw Valley State University Sunday afternoon.
On the year, Johnson is fourth on the team with a .391 batting average and is tied for second on the team with eight RBIs. As a team, USI is averaging 11.0 runs per contest through the first eight games of the year.
The Eagles return to action Saturday at 1 p.m. (CST) when they take on Midwest Region foe Cedarville University in their opening contest of The Spring Games in Clermont, Florida. USI is slated to play 12 times at The Spring Games, including regional bouts against Cedarville, Ashland University and No. 4 Grand Valley State University.
