IS IT TRUE that the License agreement for the FORD CENTER states that the Licensee Covenants and Agrees to pay Licensor a rental for each game Thunderbolt game during the regular hockey season, pre-season and the playoff in the amount of ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000.000)?  …we wonder if the owner of the former Evansville Iceman Hockey team paid the city this amount of money per home game?  …we have reached out to the owner of the former Evansville Iceman to find out what he paid the city per home game and shall inform you what he tells us?

IT IT TRUE we are hearing that the powers that be may be researching the possibility of the Evansville Thunderbolt  Hockey Team trying to obtain the same franchise that the Evansville Iceman had when they decided to leave Evansville?  …this is a developing story for the mainstream media?

IS IT TRUE about two years ago DMD purchased the Knotty Pine Restaurant site on North Main Street and demolished and now it’s an unfinished  lot?  …this site hasn’t been touched since the Knotty Pine building was demolished?  …we wonder what it cost the taxpayers to purchase the building an lot and them demolished it?

IS IT TRUE the Integra Bank building located on North Main now houses the new Evansville Land Bank Corp in that building?  …we have no idea if DMD sold or leased this building to Evansville Land Bank Corp and for how much?  …that a couple of years ago DMD sold the Intergra Bank building to the Pizza  Bar-Restaurant  located just across the street so they could demolished it for overflow parking?   …several months later DMD re-purchased the Intergra Bank building from the Pizza Bar-Bar-Restaurant  at a higher price (around $35,000 more)?…the DMD now allows the Pizza Bar-Restaurant  customers to continue to park at the old Integra Bank parking lot when their main lot become full?

IS IT TRUE DMD purchased the vacant and dilapidated CVS 800 North Main street building for a whooping $561,750.00? …only an idiot would pay that kind of money for a building located in a seedy part of town without any concrete plans to develop it? …that DMD may be forced to tear it down for a parking lot.? …we hear that DMD parking strategy backup plan for this property is to install around 24 parking spaces on this property?  …. that the demolition costs of tearing down the building and finishing the site for a paved public parking lot could probably cost the city around $100,000?

IS IT TRUE DMD original plan was to spend $907,200 for 114 parking spots in the North Main Street area?  …we wonder if they have stayed on plan or budget?  …our guess is no they haven’t?

IS IT TRUE the State of Indiana is pondering another tax hike on cigarettes?…they will be making a boat load of money in Evansville as it is still has one of the highest smoking per capita rates in the United States?. ..if taxes have to be raised it had just as well be on things that people do not need to live like cigarettes, lottery tickets, and alcoholic drinks?…that is much better than taxing beans and cornbread that is about all that people can afford to eat these days with wage stagnation and every increasing taxes on everything else?

IS IT TRUE we are proud of our Evansville Purple Aces basketball team for putting together a respectable couple of weeks to get our ot the cellar of the Missouri Valley Conference?…the goal now is to finish the year with a winning record even if it is just by one game and not to finish in last place in the conference?…this recent winning gives us hope for next year?

Two Titles Push Hoosiers to Lead at Big Ten Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Indiana University women’s swimming and diving team had an amazing night at the 2017 Big Ten Championships at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center in West Lafayette, Ind. on Thursday.

After the team’s great showing on Thursday night, the Hoosiers have stormed to the top of the standings with a total of 393.0 points. Wisconsin is second with 378.5, while Michigan is third with 363.0.

The performance of the night for IU came in the 400 medley relay, where the team of Ali Rockett, Lilly King, Gia Dalesandro and Holly Spears won the Big Ten title with a school, Big Ten, Big Ten meet and Boilermaker Aquatic Center record time of 3:28.89. The mark is also a NCAA A cut and is the second-fastest time in the nation this year.

With the victory, IU has now won the 400 medley relay three times in program history, with all three coming in the last four years. The Hoosiers also touched first in the event in 2014 and 2016.

Rockett’s leadoff 100 backstroke leg of 52.58 was a personal-best and NCAA B cut time. With the mark, Rockett now ranks as the seventh-best performer in the event at IU.

In the 200 IM, King won the Big Ten title with a NCAA B cut time of 1:55.90 to claim her third career individual conference crown. Last year, King won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke for IU.

King becomes just the second Hoosier to win the 200 IM league title, joining Allysa Varva who won in both 2011 and 2012. The Evansville, Ind. native’s time of 1:55.90 is the fourth-fastest time in school history.

Also in the Championship Final for the Hoosiers, Christine Jensen took seventh place with a NCAA B cut time of 1:59.12.

Leading a quartet of Hoosier swimmers in the B Final of the 200 IM was Sam Lisy, who touched the wall first to place ninth overall with a personal-best and NCAA B cut time of 1:58.51. Lisy’s time ranks her as the ninth-best performer in the event in school history.

Bailey Pressey took 13th overall with a NCAA B cut time of 1:59.19, while Reagan Cook placed 15th with a NCAA B cut mark of 2:00.03. Rachel Matsumura was 16th overall with a NCAA B cut time of 2:00.88.

IU had a nice showing in the Championship Final of the 1-meter, with both IU divers earning a spot in the top-8. Jessica Parratto finished fifth overall with a NCAA qualifying score of 318.70, while Michal Bower took seventh with a NCAA qualifying total of 310.65.

Parratto had a great final two dives for IU, scoring a 62.40 and a 60.00 to move up three spots. Bower was consistent the whole event, posting four scores over 50.00 points, including final dive of 57.20.

Stephanie Marchuk led four Hoosiers in the 500 freestyle, taking third in a tightly-contested B Final with a NCAA B cut time of 4:41.92. Freshman Cassie Jernberg placed 15th overall with her NCAA B cut mark of 4:45.57.

In the C Final of the 500 freestyle, Kennedy Goss had a great swim, touching the wall first to take 17th place overall with a NCAA B cut time of 4:41.64. Stephanie Marchuk was fifth in the C Final to take 21st place with a NCAA B cut of 4:46.37.

Rockett had a great swim in the B Final of the 50 freestyle, placing 14th overall with a personal-best and NCAA B cut time of 22.79. Rockett’s time improves her standing as the sixth-fastest swimmer in the event in IU history.

In the C Final of the 50 free, Shelby Koontz placed fourth to take 20th overall with a personal-best and NCAA B cut time of 22.88 that ranks her as the ninth-best performer in the event at IU. Holly Spears took 23rd overall with a time of 23.15.

The Hoosiers will continue at the 2017 Big Ten Championships on Friday morning with the prelims of the 100 butterfly, 400 IM, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and 3-meter dive. The action gets underway at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center in West Lafayette at 11:00 a.m. ET.

Attorney General Curtis Hill: W-2 Phishing Scams Not Exclusive To Businesses

INDIANAPOLIS – In the wake of a W-2 phishing scam that successfully targeted two Indianapolis businesses, Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill is warning Hoosiers that school districts, hospitals and nonprofits – and even small business owners – are also at risk of falling victim to the fraudulent scheme.

In just the last two weeks, scammers successfully compromised two Indianapolis businesses with a Form W-2 phishing scam – often referred to as the business email spoofing (BES) or business email compromise (BEC) scam. These cybercriminals, or scammers, will make their personal emails appear as if they are sent from a high-ranking employee at the targeted business. The email, which requests names of each employee and their Form W-2, is sent to someone in the company or business’ human resources or accounting department, and if successful, collects sensitive personal information of each employee.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner John Koskinen called the W-2 scam one of the most dangerous email phishing scams the IRS has seen in a long time. Attorney General Hill is cautioning everyone that this scam is not exclusive to the corporate world.

If you work for a company that has been compromised by such a scam, the Office of the Indiana Attorney General encourages you to sign up for a credit freeze to protect yourself from becoming a victim of identity theft. Hoosiers can visit the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division for more information. You can also fill out an Identity Theft Complaint Form. Contact us at 1-800-382-5516 to speak to a consumer protection staff member who can help you in obtaining an Identity Theft Affidavit Form 14039 which can be submitted to the IRS if you are a victim of tax fraud.

Reitz Boosters Winter Membership Drive

FJ Reitz Big Blue Boosters is conducting a winter membership drive. All alumni, retirees, current staff and supporters of Reitz are encouraged to join. Membership dues support student extracurricular activities at FJ Reitz High School. Since 2007, the club has donated more than $250,000 to 25 different student programs at Reitz High School.

There were 152 members during 2015 and 179 members in 2016.
During 2016, Boosters provided more than $18,000 to extracurricular activities at FJ Reitz including Marching Band, baseball, football, Business Professionals Association, girls and boys basketball, girls and boys golf, and wrestling.

The Big Blue Boosters, founded in 1980, involves its volunteer board of directors in active work year-round to raise funds for student activities at Reitz. General members are not obliged to volunteer, but are invited to assist on committees if they have interest.
Every membership dollar for Big Blue Boosters goes back to Reitz students: The Boosters is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit.

Hoosiers Qualify 15 for Thursday Night Finals at Big Ten Championships

The Indiana University women’s swimming and diving team had a great performance in the Thursday morning prelims at the 2017 Big Ten Championships at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center in West Lafayette, Ind.

The Hoosiers qualified 15 swimmers and divers for the evening finals – four in the A Finals, seven in the B Finals and four in the C Finals. IU enters Thursday night in fourth place with a total of 108 points.

500 Freestyle

The Hoosiers will bring back four swimmers for tonight’s finals of the 500 freestyle, led by Stephanie Marchuk who qualified 10th overall with a NCAA B cut time of 4:42.18. Joining her in the B Final will be freshman Cassie Jernberg, who qualified 13th overall with a personal-best and NCAA B cut time of 4:44.32.

Kennedy Goss finished 18th overall to earn a spot in the C Final with a NCAA B cut time of 4:46.08, while Delaney Barnard was 20th overall with a mark of 4:46.25 to join her in the C Final.

Jernberg’s time ties her as the 11th-fastest swimmer in the event at IU, while Barnard’s mark makes her the 15th-best performer in school history.

Shelly Drozda placed 37th overall with a time of 4:50.56, while Maria Paula Heitmann took home 38th place with a personal-best time of 4:51.25. Hannah Sakaluk was 53rd overall with a time of 4:56.45.

200 IM

Indiana had an impressive showing in the 200 IM prelims, as the team brought back all six swimmers for the evening finals.

Lilly King was the top qualifier in the event, touching the wall with a personal-best and NCAA B cut time of 1:55.49 that is the second-fastest mark in school history. Christine Jensen will join King in the A Final after posting a personal-best and NCAA B cut time of 1:58.85 that ranks her as the 12th-best performer in the event at Indiana.

IU will have four swimmers in the B Final of the 200 IM, led by Bailey Pressey, who touched the wall in a time of 1:59.09. Sam Lisy also posted a NCAA B cut time (1:59.18) to qualify, while Reagan Cook had a personal-best and NCAA B cut time of 1:59.69. Rounding out the four swimmers in the B Final for the Hoosiers will be Rachel Matsumura, who touched in a personal-best and NCAA B cut time of 1:59.75.

Cook’s time ranks her as the 12th-best swimmer in the event in school history, while Matsumura’s mark puts her at 15th all-time.

50 Freestyle

Ali Rockett will lead three IU swimmers back for the finals of the 50 freestyle on Thursday night. Keller qualified for the B Final with a personal-best and NCAA B cut time of 22.80 that ranks her as the sixth-fastest swimmer in the event in school history.

Both Holly Spears and Shelby Koontz for the C Final with personal-best times. Spears touched the wall with a NCAA B cut time of 22.85, while Koontz finished in 23.01. Spears’ time ranks her eighth all-time at IU, while Koontz’s mark puts her in a tie for 11th in IU history.

Katherine Keller tied for 87th in the 50 freestyle with a personal-best time of 24.33.

1-Meter Dive

IU received two big-time performances from Jessica Parratto and Michal Bower in the 1-meter dive prelims, as both earned a spot in Thursday night’s A Final.

Parratto qualified third overall with a NCAA qualifying score of 297.25, while Bower qualified seventh with a NCAA qualifying total of 285.75.

Parratto was solid throughout, scoring four of her six dives over 48 points. Bower had a great final effort, scoring a 54.60 on her last dive to move from 10th to seventh and earn a spot in the championship final.

The Hoosiers will continue at the 2017 Big Ten Championships on Thursday evening with the finals of the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, 1-meter dive and 400 medley relay. The action gets underway at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center in West Lafayette at 6:30 p.m. ET.
