Arrest Made For Hit-And-Run Related To Shooting Investigation Alexis M Wilhite (21) has been arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury and driving with license suspended with injury. While fleeing the shooting scene described below, Wilhite struck the victim with her vehicle, causing serious bodily injury. Wilhite did not report the accident or attempt to aid the victim.
The shooting investigation is on-going at this time.
One Deceased After Shooting Leaves Multiple Injured
On 6/15/2025 officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Taylor Ave in reference to a Shots Fired run.
Multiple 911 calls were received stating several shots were fired and there was more than one victim. Officers on scene learned a large party was hosted at the location. As everyone was leaving the party,
shots were fired outside of the venue. Multiple people were injured by gunfire and at least one person was struck by a vehicle. One of the victims who was shot did not survive their injuries. Investigators on scene spoke with several witnesses. Witnesses stated the party ended and as everyone was leaving, shots were fired outside. It was also learned that there was more than one person shooting.
Detectives spoke with residents near the scene and searched the area for any cameras that might have captured the incident. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Adult Investigation Unit at 812-436-7979.

Narcotics Investigation Leads To Methamphetamine Dealing Arrest
On 6/13/2025 the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force (EVCDTF) conducted an investigation into a large amount of methamphetamine being delivered to an address. EVCDTF detectives began surveillance on the address. Davont M Terry (27) was observed in the area multiple times before approaching the address and picking up the package containing methamphetamine. A traffic stop was conducted where Terry was taken into custody and charged with Dealing in Methamphetamine. Six pounds of suspected methamphetamine were seized.
EPD Officer Performs CPR During Medial Emerge
On 6/16/2025 Officer Staats was dispatched to a residence in reference to a medical emergency. The caller stated there was a male at this location who was “blue in color, not responding, not breathing”. Central dispatch then began giving the caller CPR instructions. The caller was not comfortable providing CPR.
Officer Staats arrived and entered the residence. When Officer Staats located the male subject, he immediately began giving chest compressions. While treating the male, Officer Staats communicated calmly with a female in the home. The male began breathing on his own as Evansville Fire Department (EFD) arrived.
Officer Staats then turned over care of the male to EFD.
Officer Staats showed great control in a chaotic situation. He was able to communicate clearly and effectively with the female inside the home. His calm focus allowed him to provide appropriate care to the male and comfort the female. Officer Staats is commended for his courage and professionalism

The Board of Commissioners of Vanderburgh County will hold an executive session on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in Room 305 of the Civic Center at 1 NW Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Evansville, Indiana 47708. The Board will meet pursuant to I.C. § 5-14-1.5- 6.1(b)(4)(I) to discuss negotiations with industrial or commercial prospects or agents of industrial or commercial prospects by a governing body of a political subdivision.

Indiana FFA to Elect New State Officer Team
|
| INDIANAPOLIS – Ten individuals will compete for seven Indiana FFA state officer spots during the 96th Indiana State Convention. During the upcoming year, these individuals will serve as president, secretary, northern region vice president, southern region vice president, treasurer, reporter and sentinel. The Indiana State Convention will be held on June 16-19 in West Lafayette at Purdue University.
The officer announcement will take place on June 19, after the completion of a rigorous interview and selection process. The convention will be filled with leadership workshops, banquets and trade shows. The State Association invites over 14,400 Indiana FFA members to take part of this opportunity. “I’ve had the privilege of meeting with many FFA members this year, and every one of them has been a perfect example of the hardworking Hoosier spirit,” Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith said. “Our state is extremely proud of them, and I am thrilled at the opportunity to get to know each of the new officers.” The newly-elected officers will oversee the development of the chapters and provide direction during events and contests. They will visit FFA chapters, host career and leadership development events and execute leadership conferences, to name a few. “Our state has talented individuals with passion, commitment, and a strong work ethic,” said Don Lamb, Indiana State Department of Agriculture director. “I wish each and every candidate the best as they head into State Convention.” The 10 Indiana FFA State Officer candidates are:
