Air quality forecasts for Evansville and Vanderburgh County are provided as a public service. They are best estimates of predicted pollution levels that can be used as a guide so people can modify their activities and reduce their exposure to air quality conditions that may affect their health. The forecasts are routinely made available at least a day in advance, and are posted by 10:30 AM Evansville time on Monday (for Tuesday through Thursday) and Thursday (for Friday through Monday). When atmospheric conditions are uncertain or favor pollution levels above the National Ambient Air Quality Standards, forecasts are made on a daily basis.
Ozone forecasts are available from mid-April through September 30th. Fine particulate (PM2.5) forecasts are available year round.

Air Quality Action Days
Ozone Alerts are issued by the Evansville EPA when maximum ozone readings averaged over a period of eight hours are forecasted to reach 71 parts per billion (ppb), or unhealthy for sensitive groups on the USEPA Air Quality Index scale.
Particulate Alerts are issued by the Evansville EPA when PM2.5 readings averaged over the period of midnight to midnight are forecasted to reach 35 micrograms per meter cubed (µg/m3).
Current conditions of OZONE and FINE PARTICULATE MATTER are available in near real-time on the Indiana Department of Environment Management’s website.
National and regional maps of current conditions are available through USEPA AIRNow.
The Evansville Otters are hosting two three-hour youth baseball camps July 29 and Aug. 19 at Bosse Field.
Both camps will start at 9 a.m. and will end at noon. Campers will receive a lunch after the camp and a general admission ticket to the home game that night. Attendees are encouraged to bring a bat, glove and running shoes.
Cost for the camp is $10 and it will include lessons on mechanics in hitting, fielding and throwing from the Otters coaching staff and players.
Parents can sign their children up for either camp by filling out the form and bringing the paperwork along with $10 to Bosse Field. Walk-up registration for the camp will be available on both dates.
The camp is open to all ages.
The Otters return home to Bosse Field on Friday against the Washington Wild Things at 6:35 p.m for Indianapolis Colts Night and fans are encouraged to stay afterwards for a spectacular postgame fireworks show.

BUDAPEST, Hungary – Indiana University diver James Connor had a great showing in the championship final of the 3-meter dive at the 2017 FINA World Championships on Thursday in Budapest, Hungary.
Connor took ninth overall in the final with a total score of 453.80. Diving for Team Australia, Connor posted scores of 71 points or more on all six of his dives, including a 82.25 on his fourth effort.
The Hoosiers had an incredibly successful week at the FINA World Championships, as the IU divers combined to total six championship final appearances. Along with the four divers, Indiana diving coach Drew Johansen served as head coach for Team USA.
The FINA World Championships continue on Sunday with the start of the swimming portion of the championships. Eight current and former Indiana swimmers will compete.

 University of Southern Indiana Women’s Basketball earned high marks in the classroom during the 2016-17 campaign as they finished the year ranked No. 12 in the nation in team grade point average according to the Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association Academic Top 25 that was released this week.
The No. 12 ranking, which was second amongst Great Lakes Valley Conference programs, is the highest finish for the Screaming Eagles in program history.
Led by reigning GLVC Coach of the Year Rick Stein, the Eagles finished the year with a 3.64 team GPA. USI, which was one of seven USI programs to be recognized as an Academic All-GLVC team, completed the year with 12 Academic All-Conference performers.
On the court, USI finished the season with a 24-5 overall record and a 16-2 mark in GLVC play. The Eagles won the GLVC East Division by three games.
“I am so proud of this group of young women,†Stein said. “Their accomplishments in the classroom and on the court show the kind of student-athletes they strive to be every day.
“We are excited to top off a really good year on the court with a 3.64 GPA and 12 Academic All-Conference players,†Stein continued. “These young ladies had this as a goal at the beginning of the year and for them to reach that goal, it truly is a special accomplishment.â€

 CRESTWOOD, Ill.- The Evansville Otters put the tying run on second in the ninth inning, but fell short to the Windy City ThunderBolts in a 3-2 loss.
 Evansville (32-24) scored their only two runs in the first inning.
An RBI single from John Schultz scored Ryan Long who started off the game with a bunt single.
Long extended his on-base streak to 11 games since joining the team.
 Alejandro Segovia then hit a sacrifice fly to score Dane Phillips making it an early 2-0 Evansville lead.
 Windy City (32-24) would not yield another run the rest of the game.
 In the second inning, a Kyle Wood solo home run put Windy City on the board to make it 2-1.
In the fifth inning, a Riley Krane RBI double scored Keenyn Walker to tie the ballgame.
In the seventh inning, Windy City took the lead on an RBI double from Coco Johnson to bring home Ransom LaLonde to make it 3-2.
In the top of the ninth inning, Brandon Soat pinch hit for Nick Walker with two out and doubled to keep the game alive. However, the a Lance Montano groundout would end the threat.
Jake McCoy took the loss for Evansville after giving up the go ahead run in the seventh.
McCoy came in for starter Feli Baez who left the game after being tended to by the trainer.
Jake Fischer recorded the win for Windy City, and Brian Loconsole was awarded his 21st save of the season.
The Otters will return home to Bosse Field on Friday against the Washington Wild Things at 6:35 p.m for Indianapolis Colts Night and postgame fireworks.
