Las Vegas, The Left, And “Gun Control”

3

The 2nd Amendment, Dr. Moss Declares, is Not Up For Grabs

Dr. Richard Moss criticized the media and the Democrat Party and some in the Republican Party for using the Las Vegas tragedy to exploit emotions for political purposes, to push through unwise legislation, even as the ruins are still smoldering.

“The unavoidable reality is that there is evil in the world, and evil individuals who commit atrocities.  It is unlikely that another law will prevent the next mass killing.”

“The effort to polemicize the issue though is predictable. Some have even called for a repeal of the 2nd Amendment.  That would require two thirds of both houses and three fourths of the states.  It will never happen because Americans recognize the wisdom of the 2nd Amendment.  They know that taking guns away from law abiding citizens means that only criminals will have them.”

“The right to self-defense is inalienable.  It is a primary, natural right that comes from God.  It is implied by the ‘Declaration of Independence.’  If  ‘we are endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights’ among which are life and liberty then the right to defend our lives is assumed and required, hence the right to bear arms is encoded in the Constitution through the Second Amendment.  The right to life and the right to defend one’s life are necessary complements and intertwined. For what good is the right to life and liberty if you cannot defend them against those who would take them from you including criminals, terrorists, and a despotic government?”

“The Second Amendment is critical to any understanding of the nation and its founding spirit.  It exists because of the value placed by the framers on life and individual sovereignty.  It was a bulwark against tyranny, of an all-powerful, central government, a grave concern for the founders who had just fought a war against tyranny in the form of the British Crown.”

“Most gun violence occurs in Democrat territory, our inner cities, caused by pro-crime leftist policies.  If our politicians were serious about controlling gun violence, they would stop attacking our police who protect us, secure our southern border, stop importing refugees from Syria and other Muslim nations, and stop releasing violent felons, drug dealers, and criminal illegal aliens into our streets. They would end sanctuary cities and not appoint “catch and release” judges that are soft on crime.  They would stop destroying our inner cities with failed liberal social welfare policies and broken cultural models that create a permanent underclass with high crime rates including murder.”

“As we mourn and care for the victims of the Las Vegas massacre we must also defend our Constitution and our 2nd Amendment.  We thank God that we live in a country where we can protect our loved ones and ourselves.”

TROPICANA EVANSVILLE’S NEW LAND-BASED CASINO OFFERS WORLD-CLASS GAMING AND MORE ON OCTOBER 20

2

After nearly 22 years, operating as Indiana’s first riverboat casino, Tropicana Evansville is scheduled to cut the ribbon on their new 75,000 square-foot land-based casino and entertainment facility on October 20, 2017 at 10AM CST.

From the spectacular multi-colored light panels on the casino’s exterior along Riverside Drive to the interior’s shimmering beaded ceiling features, everything about ourEvansville hotel’s new land-based casino and entertainment facility will provide guests with a world-class gaming experience.

The new Indiana casino encompasses 45,000 square-feet of gaming space on one level and is easily accessible from either of Tropicana Evansville’s two first-class hotels, the parking garage and the executive conference center.

The casino floor, covered in a rich, vibrant multi-colored pattern, will feature 1,175 slot games, in a myriad of themes and denominations from a penny to $100. Table players will find a variety of games on over 30 live tables including Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Mini Baccarat, Mississippi Stud, Three Card Poker, High Card Flush and Criss Cross Poker. A dedicated Poker Room will offer an exclusive gaming experience and players wishing to take winning to a new level will enjoy the High Limit Room which features a full bar.

The grandeur of the casino floor is only rivaled by a spectacular high-tech video wall display spanning 150 yards in length and showcasing a series of graphic masterpieces throughout the day and night.   Visitors will also find new contemporary wayfinding signs and attractive digital displays highlighting property promotions and entertainment and dining options.

Included in the $50 million land-based project are two new restaurants and a new entertainment lounge which will open with the casino on October 20.

Tap House restaurant & bar will serve lunch, dinner and late night menus and will provide guests with a new and convenient dining option.

“We are extremely excited to be able to offer our guests an upscale, yet casual dining experience just steps away from their favorite games. We’ve not been able to do this in our 22 years of operating on the riverboat,” says John Chaszar, General Manager of Tropicana Evansville.

The Tap House menu will include an impressive list of popular dishes with bold new flavors such as a wild Alaskan Silver Salmon salad, tender smoked pork Tacos de Carnitas, a 12-ounce center cut Black Angus ribeye steak, Louisiana BBQ shrimp with jalapeno grits and a create-your-own burger with a variety of cheese, meat and vegetable options.

The main dining room seats 176 and some will get an up-close view of Executive Chef, Chuck Subra and his culinary team in action through a large louvered opening into the kitchen. Lunch and dinner are served daily starting at 11AM and a late night menu is offered on Fridays and Saturdays from 11PM – 2AM.

Of course, this Evansville restaurant’s name is the key feature of this outlet. An impressive 36 tap handles will pour a rotating selection of seasonal beers, half dedicated to Indiana and tri-state regional favorites. At the bar, guests will be able to see available beer choices through SteadyServ® digital technology which also monitors barrel volume and freshness dates.

“Tap House is the first bar in the region to utilize this type of system and we believe beer lovers will appreciate how SteadyServ® will enhance their experience here,” says James White, Director of Food & Beverage at Tropicana Evansville.

Tap House will also offer a wide selection of fine wine and premium liquor. Bar hours are 7AM – 2AM daily. For special occasions and business gatherings, Tap House offers a private dining room for approximately fifty people which may be reserved in advance. Tap House guests must be 21 years of age and smoking is not permitted in this restaurant.

Tropicana Evansville will soon be home to downtown Evansville’s only 24-hour restaurant, The Deli.

“The Deli is unique because of its convenience. Not only will visitors to our casino enjoy it, but our hotel guests and downtown residents will find it handy too,” says John Chaszar.

Authentic New York-style fare will be served in a bright and inviting contemporary setting of white tile and modern wood accents amid an array of stylish light fixtures.Digital menus display a variety of options including hot and cold deli sandwiches, all beef hot dogs, polish sausage, personal pan pizza, fresh vegetable and fruit salads, and soup. Sides include potato salad, Cole slaw, potato chips and whole pickles.

“The menu we created for The Deli is a big step above your average sandwich shop. That’s because we’re only using Boar’s Head® meats and cheeses. The pastrami and Swiss on wheat berry Vienna bread, the corned beef Reuben on rye with sauerkraut, the Philly cheesesteak made with Angus beef, and the spicy Italian-style beef are just a few of the generous, mouth-watering specialties you’ll find here,” says James White.

A special “grab & go” menu provides faster service, including donuts, cinnamon rolls, cookies, muffins, cheesecake, bagels and an assortment of candy bars.

In addition to Coca-Cola® products, hot and cold coffee drinks will be served at The Deli including Americano, espresso shots, lattes, mochas, caramel macchiatos, cappuccinos, frappes, chai and tea.

The Deli will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for guests of all ages. The Deli’s grill will be open daily from 10AM – 2AM. Seating is provided for up to 36 people and carryout will be available. Smoking is not permitted inside The Deli. For menu details, visit www.TropEvansville.com

Located just off Tropicana Evansville’s new casino floor, is the ultramodern lounge and nightclub, 421. Guests can enjoy beer, wine, cocktails and bottle service in the lounge or take a seat at the stage bar where the staff will show off their “flair bartending” skills.

421’s state-of-the-art sound, light and video technology will take nightly live entertainment to a new level and featured DJs will play House, Dance and Techno music each Friday and Saturday, from 11PM to 2AM.

“We’ve put a lot of thought and preparation into 421. The lounge is already amazing but we’ve included a video wall as the backdrop for the stage to add more excitement. We’ll show music videos during the day and on Friday and Saturday nights, we’ll blow you away with an incredible video experience,” says Stacey McNeill, Director of Marketing of Tropicana Evansville.

Join the fun on October 20 & 21, 2017 when world-famous, St. Louis dance rock band, DRZHIVEGAS takes the 421 stage during the Grand Opening weekend. For two decades, DRZHIVEGAS has reigned supreme as one of the most beloved and hardest working dance rock acts in the United States. Now entering their third decade, performing over 200 shows a year, the DRZHIVEGAS legacy continues at the Grand Opening of 421. Show times will be at 7PM and 9PM each night.

421 is for guests 21 years of age and older and smoking is not permitted in the lounge. To see the entertainment lineup at 421, visit www.TropEvansville.com

To allow for the move from boat to land, the Tropicana Evansville Casino will be closed from Monday, October 16 at 6AM CST through Friday, October 20, at approximately 10AM CST.

An Open House is planned for October 11, at 11:30 a.m. to allow interested individuals an opportunity to see the new Community Action Program of Evansville (CAPE) Head Start and Early Head Start Early Childhood Learning Center on the Ivy Tech Community College Evansville Campus, at 651 Fairway Drive, Evansville.

“We are pleased to renovate a stand-alone building on the Ivy Tech campus to create a center for our students’ children,” said Ivy Tech Chancellor Jonathan Weinzapfel. This project is being made possible without any state funding, through a partnership with CAPE, grants and private and corporate contributions to the Ivy Tech Foundation. “The Learning Center will allow Ivy Tech students to have their children well cared for and in a learning environment, as they pursue their college degree,” Weinzapfel added.

CAPE CEO Alice Weathers, said, “Collaborating with Ivy Tech, the Evansville Department of Metropolitan Development and Early Learning Indiana on this project will allow Ivy Tech students to pursue their education goals while providing quality Early Childhood education opportunities for their children.”

Opportunities to help fund this project are ongoing, said Ivy Tech Executive Director of Resource Development Erica Schmidt. “We are grateful for the gifts we have received by private donors and community and corporate donors such as Mead Johnson Nutrition, One Main Financial and Early Learning Indiana. This project would not be made possible without the support of the community since it is a donor and grant funded initiative.

“We are continuing our outreach for additional support and are excited to be developing a donor recognition space, designed by Ivy Tech Visual Communications student, Rachel Fitzwater, which will be featured in the foyer of the center,” Schmidt added. To be a part of this initiative, call 812-429-1409.

The Center has the capacity for 50 children, with first priority being given to children of Ivy Tech students. This location is expected to open in November. It will have two Head Start classrooms for children 3-5 years old and two Early Head Start classrooms for children 6 weeks to 3 years old. Full day, year-round enrollment is offered with hours of operation Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

CAPE is currently hiring qualified teachers for the center.

The Center will offer a comprehensive school readiness program, individualized early childhood education, development and health screenings, and meals and snacks.

Cost of the program and other offerings will be a sliding scale, based on the individual’s ability to pay. It will accept Child Care Development Fund vouchers, as well as On My Way Pre-K vouchers, for those who qualify.

Enrollment for open spots is ongoing. To check availability of openings, call CAPE Head Start at 812-425-4241.

USI Recognized For NSWC Crane Partnership At Office Of The Vice President

The University of Southern Indiana was commended for its successful relationship with Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) at a briefing hosted by the Office of Vice President Mike Pence on Wednesday, September 27 in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington, D.C.

The purpose of the briefing – which included NSWC Crane Technical Director, Dr. Brett Seidle, Indiana Chief Innovation Officer, Dave Roberts, and other key partners – was to highlight the regional innovation model that has emerged in the Midwest.

NSWC Crane presented an update to the Office of the Vice President and the Office of Science and Technology Policy on the innovation ecosystem developed in southern Indiana. USI’s role in developing the Innovation Discovery process and the Technology Commercialization Academy were highlighted as key reasons behind NSWC Crane’s success story.

“USI has been and simply continues to be a valued partner as we work collectively to advance our region,” said Kyle Werner, director of engagement at NSWC Crane.

Additionally, USI was commissioned by the Indiana Office of Defense Development to conduct a study and present an implementation plan for an Innovation Practice within and around NSWC Crane. The IODD, which focuses on growing Indiana’s defense sector by promoting the defense assets located within the state, supports the innovation ecosystem by assisting in the commercialization of DoD intellectual property (IP) and assets, creating additional high quality jobs for Indiana.

Daniela Videl, director of Opportunity Development within USI Outreach and Engagement, served as USI’s representative at the briefing. Other key presenters included Indiana University, the Purdue Research Foundation, Cook Medical, Radius Indiana, and Regional Opportunity Initiatives.

Led by the Indiana Governor’s Office, a culture of innovation has been formed with NSWC Crane as a key technology driver in partnership with major regional universities and industry. During Vice President Mike Pence’s tenure as the Governor of Indiana, the state committed investments of $1 billion over the next decade toward innovation and entrepreneurship.

The goal of Wednesday’s briefing was to examine success factors and communicate lessons learned from the public-private effort to stimulate regional economic growth, and to explore whether the southwestern Indiana regional innovation effort could be a model for other federal laboratories to follow.

NSWC Crane is a naval laboratory and a field activity of Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). NSWC Crane is responsible for multi-domain, multi-spectral, full life cycle support of technologies and systems enhancing capability of today’s warfighter.
