Honor is the fourth of the season for UE Women’s Basketball

For the third straight week, the University of Evansville basketball team has had a student-athlete named Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week with freshman guard Kayla Casteel earning the honor after a pair of impressive performances.

On the week, Casteel averaged 13.5 points while shooting 53.3% (8-15) from the field, 58.3% (7-12) from beyond the arc, and going a perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line after entering the week without a point in her collegiate career. The freshman also showed poise in her first appearances with increased minutes, committing just two turnovers in 42 minutes of action.

In the Aces’ 96-59 victory over Oakland City on Thursday night, Casteel came off the bench to score 14 points in 23 minutes of action, swishing four three-pointers. On the road against UIC on Saturday afternoon, the Indianapolis native continued her strong week as the freshman tallied 13 points on 3-5 shooting from beyond the arc in a 96-77 road loss.

Casteel’s 27 point week is the best among Aces’ freshman this season and second-best among players coming off the bench this year.

The honor is the fourth this season for the Aces after graduate guard Hannah Noe earned the recognition three times previously this season.

The Aces conclude their pre-holiday slate on Tuesday when Evansville travels to take on SEMO at 1 p.m. in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Without these protections, Medicare beneficiaries would likely face higher out-of-pocket costs.

IS IT TRUE we are told that city employees unpaid medical payments for the several months to area healthcare providers are being deferred for payment during the first half of 2018?

IS IT TRUE we expect the annual State Board of Accounts audit is scheduled to be released any day now?  …we are hearing it’s an interesting read?

IS IT TRUE members of the Evansville City Council better keep their eyes open concerning the last half of the $12,550,000 advance payment that the city receives from Tropicana?  …we are told that the City Controller has transfer those funds in the General Fund instead of the Riverboat Rainey Day Fund?

IS IT TRUE  several years ago EVSC’s hired Cox Law Firm to encourage debtors to paid what they owe EVSC for past books and cafeteria debts before taking them to Small Claims Court?  …that Cox Law firm agreed that they wouldn’t charge EVSC if they have to take the debtors to Small Claims Court for judgement? …another part of the agreement with the EVSC states that Cox Law firm will only be compensated for sending demand letters and negotiating with defendants to make arrangements before taking debtors to Small Claims Court?  …that Cox Law firm over the past several years has negotiated with individuals that owe money to the EVSC with success? …we commend Cox Law Firm for not being over aggressive “Dog The Bounty Hunters” debt collectors but are still able to collect a good sum of money owed to the EVSC?

IS IT TRUE many people are wondering what kind of political deals that members of the Evansville City Council are cutting in order to determine the leadership position for 2018?  …we predict that the new leadership makeup of City Council for 2018 will surprise anyone?

Holcomb Highlights Success Of 2017 Legislative Session, Previews 2018

INDIANAPOLIS — Gov. Eric Holcomb is calling on legislators to focus on Hoosiers during the 2018 legislative session if they want to take Indiana to the “next level.”

Holcomb took a moment to reminisce on the previous year’s successes and look ahead to the future in his first appearance as governor at the annual Bingham Greenbaum Doll LLP Legislative Conference Wednesday.

The conference attracts legislators, lobbyists, county and municipal leaders for an inside-look at the state’s hot topics surrounding the Statehouse prior to legislative session, which begins Jan. 3.

“We set, obviously, a high bar,” Holcomb said. “We went into session in a strong position, and we came out even stronger than that first gate and we’re seeking to do just that once again in 2018.”

In his 2018 legislative agenda, which he unveiled on Nov. 8, Holcomb emphasized the need for a stronger STEM education program—science, technology, engineering and math—in order to develop Indiana’s workforce.

“Everywhere I go, this is what I hear—if I invest in Indiana, am I going to find the workforce I need in order to survive and thrive in business?” Holcomb said. “We’re addressing that. We want to make sure the state of Indiana is doing all it can to address any of these gaps that occur.”

One step Holcomb has already taken toward this goal is the implementation of nextleveljobs.org, a website for Hoosiers to search for jobs posted by Indiana employers.

Holcomb said more than 240,000 Hoosiers have visited the site since its August launch, and more than 12,000 applicants have been processed through.

The governor, during his address, previewed another program preparing to launch in the state—the Last Mile program.

The Last Mile, which currently exists in eight California prisons, is a program that prepares incarcerated individuals for a successful future following their release through business and technology training.

“They have the skills to succeed. Not just skills, but hope for a better life, many of which have just never experienced that before.”

Indiana has more than 27,000 inmates in the system, Holcomb said. About 12,000 of those inmates are released each year and another 12,000 are brought in. Holcomb said this is not only an effort to provide people with more skills, but also create a more attractive economy.

“We’ve got a lot to do,” Holcomb said. “This is a to-do list. We’re going to be focused on it 24 hours a day. All of these are going to require many hands. It’s not going to make the work easier, but it’ll make it lighter.”

CHANNEL 44 NEWS: Evansville Regional Airport Affected By Cancelled Flights To Atlanta

0
The power outage at Atlanta’s Hartfield-Jackson Airport left thousands stranded and is also affecting those traveling through Evansville. Two flights leaving Evansville were cancelled today.

It was a long night for some passengers who were getting ready to board flights going to Atlanta, Georgia. The Evansville Regional Airport had a line of people from different parts of the nation who showed great patience while claiming back luggage and arranging alternate travel plans.

Chris Harmon, a Nashville native, says he was here in Evansville for a family holiday and is lucky to have a re-routed flight. Harmon says, “It worries me that something like that would happen at one of the busiest airports in the world affected like that but I’m grateful that there’s other options that Delta does fly through, so I was able to get out someplace else.”

Two women from Orlando, Florida were in Evansville for work but intend to take the opportunity to spend time in the city before heading back home. A three hour layover awaits them in Detroit, Michigan.

They say, “It’s frustrating to know that we are stuck for another night.”

“I’m glad we’re not stuck there through like in the chaos of it. We can stay here, it’s nice and quiet. We like it in Evansville.”

Those who are have scheduled flights to Atlanta in the next coming days should keep an eye out for cancellations or delays.

Kate Steinle’s Illegal Alien Murderer Goes Free

Kate Steinle’s Illegal Alien Murderer Goes Free
Written By Dr. Richard Moss, Candidate For Congress

Jasper, IN: Dr. Richard Moss, candidate for Congress, had sharp words for so called “sanctuary” cities.

“We should call them ‘rogue’ or ‘lawless’ cities or ‘criminal sanctuary’ cities because they provide sanctuary for illegal alien criminals who prey upon American citizens.”

“Jose Zarate is a criminal illegal alien. He has been deported five times. He has been convicted of seven felonies since 1991. ICE (Immigration Customs Enforcement) officials asked San Francisco authorities to release him into their custody, but because San Francisco is a so-called ‘sanctuary’ city, they refused. Instead he was sent out into the streets and killed Kate Steinle.”

“The San Francisco jury, which was not told of the seven felony charges, found him not guilty of murder and not guilty of assault with a deadly weapon. They found him guilty of possession of a firearm. Because he had served 2 years in a county jail awaiting trial, he may be released for time served.”

“Can American citizens get justice in this country? Why are criminal illegal aliens who have already committed a crime upon entering the country illegally, and then go on to commit other more serious crimes as Zarate did, given every protection and safeguard while Americans are treated as second class citizens?”

“It is a scandal and a stain on the federal government and the Republican Party that 16 years after 9/11 we have not secured our southern border. This is a law and order issue. It is a national security issue. A government’s first obligation is to protect its citizens, but not apparently when it comes to illegal aliens.”

“It is time to help American dreamers. It is time for American citizens to step out of the shadows. It is time for illegal aliens to be deported. We must secure our southern border and build a wall. We must implement e-verify, visa tracking, and employer sanctions. We must defund lawless, criminal, ‘sanctuary’ cities and deputize local and state law enforcement to help ICE enforce our nation’s immigration laws not skirt them. If necessary, we should federalize the national guards of states like California or send federal troops in to impose federal law as has been done multiple times in the past including by President Eisenhower who sent troops to Little Rock, Arkansas to enforce the Supreme Court’s ‘Brown’ decision. We must end the scourge of illegal immigration. We are obligated to American citizens not to illegal aliens.”

“Kate Steinle died in her father’s arms because an illegal alien who had been deported five times and convicted of seven felonies shot her. She said to her Dad, just before expiring, ‘Help me, Daddy.’ Kate and hundreds of other American citizens have died at the hands of illegal aliens because Democrats want more votes and Republicans want more money (from the cheap labor lobby). They are unwilling to defend this country. They cover themselves in shame.”

Dr. Richard Moss is a board certified head and neck cancer surgeon and was a candidate for Congress in 2016. He graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine and has been in practice in Jasper and Washington, IN for over 20 years. He is married with four children.
