Kate Steinle’s Illegal Alien Murderer Goes Free

Kate Steinle’s Illegal Alien Murderer Goes Free
Written By Dr. Richard Moss, Candidate For Congress

Jasper, IN: Dr. Richard Moss, candidate for Congress, had sharp words for so called “sanctuary” cities.

“We should call them ‘rogue’ or ‘lawless’ cities or ‘criminal sanctuary’ cities because they provide sanctuary for illegal alien criminals who prey upon American citizens.”

“Jose Zarate is a criminal illegal alien. He has been deported five times. He has been convicted of seven felonies since 1991. ICE (Immigration Customs Enforcement) officials asked San Francisco authorities to release him into their custody, but because San Francisco is a so-called ‘sanctuary’ city, they refused. Instead he was sent out into the streets and killed Kate Steinle.”

“The San Francisco jury, which was not told of the seven felony charges, found him not guilty of murder and not guilty of assault with a deadly weapon. They found him guilty of possession of a firearm. Because he had served 2 years in a county jail awaiting trial, he may be released for time served.”

“Can American citizens get justice in this country? Why are criminal illegal aliens who have already committed a crime upon entering the country illegally, and then go on to commit other more serious crimes as Zarate did, given every protection and safeguard while Americans are treated as second class citizens?”

“It is a scandal and a stain on the federal government and the Republican Party that 16 years after 9/11 we have not secured our southern border. This is a law and order issue. It is a national security issue. A government’s first obligation is to protect its citizens, but not apparently when it comes to illegal aliens.”

“It is time to help American dreamers. It is time for American citizens to step out of the shadows. It is time for illegal aliens to be deported. We must secure our southern border and build a wall. We must implement e-verify, visa tracking, and employer sanctions. We must defund lawless, criminal, ‘sanctuary’ cities and deputize local and state law enforcement to help ICE enforce our nation’s immigration laws not skirt them. If necessary, we should federalize the national guards of states like California or send federal troops in to impose federal law as has been done multiple times in the past including by President Eisenhower who sent troops to Little Rock, Arkansas to enforce the Supreme Court’s ‘Brown’ decision. We must end the scourge of illegal immigration. We are obligated to American citizens not to illegal aliens.”

“Kate Steinle died in her father’s arms because an illegal alien who had been deported five times and convicted of seven felonies shot her. She said to her Dad, just before expiring, ‘Help me, Daddy.’ Kate and hundreds of other American citizens have died at the hands of illegal aliens because Democrats want more votes and Republicans want more money (from the cheap labor lobby). They are unwilling to defend this country. They cover themselves in shame.”

Mom Who Placed Child For Adoption Can’t Claim Custody 13 Years Later

0

Dave Stafford for www.theindianalawyer.com

A biological mother and father who consented to the adoption of their child cannot 13 years later seek custody. The Indiana Court of Appeals affirmed a trial court ruling to that effect Friday, finding that to rule otherwise would “lead to a patently absurd result in this case and potentially many others.”

In the Harrison County case J.R. and C.R. v. S.P. and D.P, 31A04-1706-DC-1284, biological mother C.R. and her husband, J.R., filed a motion seeking custody of C.R.’s biological daughter, A.P. The biological mother had voluntarily relinquished her parental rights 13 years earlier when she consented to A.P.’s adoption the day after giving birth in 2003. The biological and adoptive parents did not enter into an agreement regarding post-adoption contact between A.P. and her biological mom.

In February, C.R. and her husband filed a petition seeking custody of A.P. They alleged they had been in contact with A.P., and that there were conflicts between the child and parents, who planned to relocate. The petition claimed awarding custody to the C.R. and her husband would be in A.P.’s best interests.

Judge Rudy Pyle wrote for the panel that C.R.’s petition ran counter to persuasive statutory and case law.

“Biological Mother’s parent-child relationship with A.P. was irretrievably terminated when the decree of adoption was entered in March 2004. At that time, Biological Mother was divested of all rights with respect to A.P. We agree with the trial court that Biological Mother cannot now circumvent this law ‘under the guise of a non-parent third party.’

“The acceptance of Biological Mother’s argument would lead to a patently absurd result in this case and potentially in many others. Under her argument, all parents who had either voluntarily relinquished their parental rights or had those rights involuntarily terminated could use (I.C. 31-17-2-3) to potentially revive those previously divested rights” Pyle wrote. “This would create the ‘unnecessary instability and uncertainty’ that (I.C. 31-19-15-1) was enacted to prevent. Further, in this case, it would also be absurd to allow Biological Mother to use her husband to revive these divested rights. Accordingly, the trial court did not err in granting Parents’ motion to dismiss.”

Local Student Places Second In Indiana Statehood Day Essay Contest

0

Each year, the Indiana Statehouse Tour Office and the Indiana Center for the Book hold an essay competition to commemorate Statehood Day. The contest is open to all Indiana fourth-graders as part of their Indiana history curriculum, and submissions are judged by a panel of Indiana State Library staff and volunteer educators.

Ozzy Jankowski, a West Terrace Elementary School student, was awarded second place in this year’s competition for his essay titled, “What makes you proud to live in Indiana?”

During the Statehood Day celebration at the Indiana State Library, Ozzy read his essay on Hoosier pride, heard from local storyteller Celestine Bloomfield and met Dean Dorrell, an Abraham Lincoln impersonator.

Congratulations to Ozzy on this remarkable accomplishment!

BREAKING NEWS: Second-Half Surge Leads UE to 79-52 Win Over Midway

December 17, 2017

Frederking Has Career Game

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Freshman Noah Frederking set a career-high with 19 points to help the University of Evansville men’s basketball team take a 79-52 victory against Midway on Sunday afternoon inside the Ford Center.

Frederking knocked down 6 of his 12 attempts along with three triples to lead all scorers in the contest.  It surpassed his previous scoring mark of 14, which came at Bowling Green earlier this month.  Just behind Frederking was senior Blake Simmons who hit double digits for the fifth game in a row for the Purple Aces (10-2).  Simmons finished with 18.  A day after setting his career scoring mark, K.J. Riley had the first double-double of his career, notching 15 points and 12 rebounds.  He also dished out seven assists.

“I let the game come to me today,” Frederking explained.  “I thought we played a good game in the second half.  We came out slow in first half, but picked it up in the second half.”

Pacing Midway (4-8) was Kwon Evans, who had 14 points.

“Give Midway a lot of credit.  They were the most aggressive team for most of the first half,” Aces head coach Marty Simmons said.  “Our guys adjusted at halftime and came out in the second half playing a faster pace and really played better in all areas.”

Midway showed early on that they were going to put up a fight as they scored the first five points of the game including a Bryson Harris 3-pointer.  A basket by Dainius Chatkevicius got the Aces on the board at the 18:08 mark, but the Eagles’ hot shooting continued as a 6-8 start from the field gave them a 15-6 lead less than five minutes in.

Blake Simmons helped UE make its way back as he posted six Evansville points in a row before a jumper by Saturday’s star – K.J. Riley – cut the Midway advantage to three at 19-16.  Freshman Noah Frederking knocked down his first triple of the day just past the midway point of the half to tie it up for the first time at 21-21.  Following an Eagles miss, Simmons converted a triple of his own to give UE its first lead at 24-21.

On the next possession, Midway tied it right back on a Brandon Johnson trey as the Eagles had it tied or stayed within a possession until the final seconds of the half.  That is when a pair of free throws by Riley sent the Aces into the break with a 38-33 lead.  Simmons had 11 in the half.

After allowing the Eagles to shoot 50% in the opening stanza, the Aces defense clamped down in the final 20 minutes.  UE held Midway to just 21.4% shooting while outscoring them by a 41-19 tally.  A triple by Noah Frederking at the 17:21 mark gave the Aces their first double figure lead at 45-35.  From there, the lead reached its highest point in the final minute with the 27-point victory – 79-52.

Evansville posted a 45-27 mark in rebounding while the offense stood strong, shooting 48.1%.  The outside shooting for the Aces continued at a torrid pace as the squad went 5-of-9 from beyond the arc.

Today’s win marked the 29th-consecutive home non-conference win for the Aces.  It is one of the ten longest streaks in the nation.

On Wednesday evening, UE travels to Durham, N.C. to take on Duke.  The game will be televised live on ESPN2.

Eagles blast Hornets, 85-26

0

University of Southern Indiana Women’s Basketball scored 27 straight points to open its contest against Harris-Stowe State University as the No. 7 Screaming Eagles blasted the visiting Hornets, 85-26, Saturday afternoon at the Physical Activities Center.

Led by senior guard/forward Kaydie Grooms (Marshall, Illinois), 11 different players scored for the Eagles. Grooms finished with 21 points, six rebounds and four steals as the Eagles earned their ninth straight win.

USI (9-0) held the Hornets to just 14.5 percent (8-55) from the field and held a 59-31 edge on the glass. Senior forward Morgan Dahlstrom (Grayslake, Illinois) added 10 points and 13 rebounds, while freshman forward Imani Guy (Columbus, Indiana) added 11 points, four rebounds and three steals.

The Eagles, who had 21 steals in the game, turned 29 Harris-Stowe turnovers into 34 points; while outscoring the Hornets 32-8 in the paint.

Freshman guard Emma DeHart (Indianapolis, Indiana) added nine points and three steals, while junior guard Alex Davidson (Salem, Indiana) added eight points, five rebounds, three assists and five steals. Senior guard Randa Harshbarger (Philo, Indiana) also finished with five points and five steals.

USI returns to action Tuesday at 5 p.m. (CST) when it travels to Harrogate, Tennessee, to take on 2017 NCAA II Southeast Region finalist Lincoln Memorial University. The Railsplitters (5-5) are coming off a 53-47 road loss to Newberry College Saturday afternoon.

K.J. Riley leads UE men to overtime win

0

Newcomer K.J. Riley scored a career-high 22 points while hitting 14 free throws to send the University of Evansville men’s basketball team to an exciting 78-74 overtime win over Austin Peay on Saturday afternoon at the Ford Center.

“We have a well-rounded team, any of our guys can be the leading scorer any night,” senior Duane Gibson said after the game.

Riley hit four field goals, but did his damage at the line for the Purple Aces (9-2).  He hit a career-best 14 out of 17 from the line on his way to the career game.  Seniors Blake Simmons and Duane Gibson also played huge roles for the short-handed UE squad.  Simmons finished with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting while playing a season-high of 42 minutes.  Gibson went 7-of-8 from the line on his way to a solid 17-point day.  It was his top scoring output of the season.

“We showed that anyone can step up as long as we compete, play hard and listed to what the coaches say,” Riley said following his career game.  “The energy off our leaders really helped me.  They told me to compete and have fun.”

Head coach Marty Simmons was proud of Riley’s effort.

“KJ is an unorthodox player.  He just finds ways to contribute”, Simmons said.  “He did a lot of his damage at the end of the shot clock.”

Austin Peay (4-6) was led by a 30-point game from freshman Terry Taylor.  His total was just two behind the Ford Center record for a UE opponents, which was set by current NBA player and former Murray State guard Cameron Payne.

UE was first on the board as Duane Gibson posted an old-fashioned 3-point play, but Austin Peay used a 9-0 run over the next three minutes to take a 9-3 lead.  Four APSU players scored in the run.  Six minutes in, a bucket by Terry Taylor gave the Governors their largest lead at 15-7.

Missing their top two scorers, the Aces found their groove midway through the first half, going on a 14-2 run, capped off by a Blake Simmons triple, to go up 21-17 at the 8:42 mark.  K.J. Riley had five points in the run.  Another Simmons triple with 3:18 on the clock saw UE take its largest edge of the period at 33-25.

Austin Peay rallied in the final minutes as an 8-0 run tied the game right up at 33-33.  They had a chance to take the lead on their final possession of the half, but a turnover gave the ball back to UE with 2.7 seconds left.  A great play call saw freshman Noah Frederking get the ball at half court and bank in a long 3-pointer to send the Aces to the half up 36-33.

Defense was the story in the second half as the teams combined to score just seven points in the first five minutes of play, leading to a 41-35 lead for the Aces as Frederking was true once again from outside.  The Governors hovered around and a Zachary Glotta three with 13:03 remaining cut the Evansville lead to just a pair at 46-44.

On the ensuing possession, Dalen Traore knocked down a pair of free throws to spur a 9-2 stretch that gave UE its biggest lead at 55-46.  Blake Simmons also had three points in the run.  The Aces lead continued to hold strong at seven points when another Simmons bucket made it a 60-53 game with 6:52 remaining.

That is when the APSU defense took over.  They held UE scoreless for a span of 6:02 while holding the Aces to 0-4 with three turnovers while notching eight in a row to go up 61-60.  Terry Taylor’s bucket with 1:48 left in the game put them on top.  Two more from the line by Riley ended the stretch before he hit another pair with 12 ticks on the clock to make it a 64-61 game.  Following a timeout, the Averyl Ugba heaved a three in the final seconds to tie it up at 64.

“I thought we did a lot of great things, but that is part of competition,” Coach Simmons explained.  “Give credit to Austin Peay, they made a great shot.  We defended it well, but they hit it.  Blake buried a big three for us in the first possession of overtime and that really helped us.”

Evansville did not let that deter them as Simmons opened up the overtime period with a triple.  UE would not give up that advantage over the five minute stanza.  The Aces outscored the Governors by a 14-10 mark in overtime on the way to their 9th victory of the season.

On the boards, UE finished with a 33-31 edge while the team also outshot the Governors, 46.9% to 45.2%.  The guys are back in action on Sunday afternoon with a 3 p.m. tip against Midway at the Ford Center.
