Anonymous Tip Leads To Arrest In Wednesday Armed Robbery Cases

Evansville Police and the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department have made an arrest in connection with 3 armed robberies that happened on Wednesday in Evansville.

On Thursday afternoon, Henderson officials received an anonymous tip about the robbery suspect. The tipster notified law enforcement after seeing the EPD press release that featured images of the suspect and the involved vehicles.

Based on the tip, a Henderson County detective located the silver Chevy Cavalier on Clay St in Henderson. While waiting for Evansville investigators to arrive, he saw KENNY JAMES JONES, exit a house and drive away in the Cavalier.

JONES was taken into custody during a traffic stop. A search warrant was issued for the house and the car. During the search, a handgun and clothing items were seized.
Investigators also learned that JONES was wanted on felony warrants out of Tennessee.

As the investigation continued, the green truck was also located in Henderson. Police have not made any additional arrests in connection with the robberies.

JONES is currently in custody in Henderson County. He will be transferred to Vanderburgh County when the extradition process is complete.

There is not a current booking photo in Vanderburgh County.
